EIGHT YEARS? They’ve been doing digital events instead for live ones for EIGHT YEARS?
God, I’m old. I still remember how insane their 2010 presentation was.
Mind you they still have physical presence in E3. Just that rather than having a presscon with a person on stage, it's a video stream instead.
Speaking of which I swear the time is different than before.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.I know. I’m still shocked it’s been eight years since they did the whole “Iwata stands on stage and physically presents the show” bit.
It's the same time (Tuesday at 9 am PDT), but it feels different because there's no show floor.
It's technically been nine years. The last E3 live stage presentation from Nintendo was in 2012.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."I guess 2020 made me forgot what it was like in 2019.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.2020 never happened. We skipped that year. Forever.
-Witty line-Nintendo was ahead of the curve in deciding to just make their E3 presentation be digital.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life! That's true. Even before Covid killed the possibility of a normal 2020 E3, a lot of game companies were opting to do their own digital shows weren't they?
Then again, Nintendo seems to be ahead of a lot of things except for graphics.
One Strip! One Strip! And Internet Servers.

Mario never shuts up in Super Mario 64, Whatchu talking about. XD!
Watch SymphogearIt's weird that the first time I ever saw Nintendo's E3 presentation was in 2013, the first one AFTER switching to digital only presentations.
Goddammit, Schezo...And carving up their games to be sold as piecemeal DLC.
And microtransactions.
I am perfectly OK with them stagnating on those trends.
Ukrainian Red Cross(Looks at Mario Kart Tour) Ummm....
Watch SymphogearI mean, they don't do that for the most part, but there is Pokemon, which evolved from a complete third version to sequels to two third versions to that Fates, which luckily was the only time it happened discounting Pokemon, from a certain point of view and luckily didn't happen with Three Houses

Silence is golden, noise is platinum. Keelah se'laiI think VampireBuddha's post is supposed to be "Nintendo doesn't carve up their games to sell as piecemeal DLC," AKA "behind the times when it comes to the modern practice of carving up games."
I would even say that Fates wasn't that bad since each route is essentially one whole game, and I definitely like how Pokémon Sword and Shield handled its expansion; if I had to pick between paying for a third version of the game or getting the extra content in an expansion, I'd pick the expansion.

Smash DLC is a goldmine for them since it's a fraction of the content for almost base game pricing.
Perhaps some games are better with expansions rather than brand new games.
-Witty line-Demon: Mario Kart Tour is a free-to-start smartphone game. That entire section of the industry is a lost cause. Nintendo at least have enough morals not to put microtransactions in games you have to pay for upfront.
Fates was indeed carved up to be sold as piecemeal DLC, and I've objected to that in the past. Fortunately it appears to have been a one-time thing. I can't speak to Pokémon.
Ukrainian Red CrossPlus, a lot of the "Free-To-Start (pay to win)" games on the Switch put a hard limit on how much you are ALLOWED to pay on the game, usually around 40 dollars.
Most of Pokemon are literally "stuff made after the fact" rather than "made before, but held back to sell" for better or worse.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.Although, Mythical Pokemon have always been just a price tag away from being legit on-cart DLC.
A reaction video of three GameXplain members to Nintendo's E3 presentation...... of 2001.
It's a pretty nostalgic ride, if you ask me.
135 - 161 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300Alright, I have to watch this.
Goddammit, Schezo...Well, I went and paid for a premium Zoom account. I've set up a group meeting for the E3 Direct, which I'm going to start about 30 minutes before the Direct itself starts to give everybody the chance to get signed in and have a chat beforehand. If anybody wants to join in, PM me for the details.

Can’t say definitively, but I have to assume that their E3 event has been announced well ahead of time every year.
Typically E3 Directs are usually announced about a month out.
Technically yes, as far as I'm aware. They usually give two weeks advance notice for E3... but this is the first time I can think of where they've used the Direct branding for E3. Usually they call it something like "Digital Presentation" or "Digital Event" instead of a Direct.
The first E3 Direct was labelled a Direct, but none of the one's in the 8 years in between have.
