Whatever the title might be, make it related to Lampshade Hanging, Expo Sition and Calling Your Attacks.
MAX POWER KILL JEEEEEEEEWWWWWAll valid. But would like to have a consensus on whether it should be renamed and/or what the title should be.
I feel like it should be something like "in-character narration" because that's essentially what it is. The character is narrating what they're doing (or not doing) so that the player can understand the precise situation they're in. I guess the problem with that exact name is that it invokes the proper use of narration, where the character is speaking in the past tense.
Present Tense In Character Narration is a mouthful though.
Well I put my name ideas on the last page, no real support. This trope is a thing and needs a rename though.
/sigh
Crowner them all up?
Yeah. Let me do it, I need to learn how to do a crowner eventually. :p
Double posting to make sure people get the update: Crowner is here. I included every proposed title that wasn't immediately followed by "But I'm not serious and that's a shitty title". Hollering as soon as I click "send" on this post. I've cast my vote in favor of "As I Know" and also downvoted the ones I don't care for. I'm on the fence about Internal Small Talk and Inane Observation Inner Monologue so I'm refraining from voting on them.
Edit: God, I suck. Link fixed.

Added a "rename or no" crowner first.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOh, I thought we had pretty much decided that already. My bad. Voted.

8-0 landslide and we are two days passed the clock expiration date... Call it quickly or wait?
Wait, because only 8 people is very little.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanCalled crowner in favour of rename, attached an alt names crowner. I've removed the top option because line of dialogue titles are forbidden.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWow, all in the negative.
Oof. If I may ask, exactly which ones got removed?
If you click the little book icon you can see the edit history of that option.
All these that aren't redlinks, basically.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOh, I didn't realize you could view the history on a crowner.
Well, what exactly constitutes a "line of dialogue title"? I know they're verboten, and why, and I agree with the reasoning behind it, but I'm not sure those titles really qualify. My understanding is that line of dialogue titles have too much potential to be misused as Stock Phrases.
A few have noted (not just citing myself here; I've seen a few tropers and I think a mod or two) that the No New Stock Phrases rule tends to get misapplied as No Titles That Are Sentences Or Phrases, which, logically, pretty much speaks for itself.
I don't see As I Know or I Know About Times Hits being misused that way. I Know About Timed Hits is a Snowclone of the esoterically-named He Knows About Timed Hits, and as such, I'm reasonably sure it has never been spoken by any character ever—which would make it pretty difficult to misuse as a stock phrase. As I Know would be unlikely for related reasons; the phrasing is awkward and unusual enough that I don't think I've ever seen it spoken by a character.
Not that I'm hugely in favor of I Know About Timed Hits, being such an esoteric reference and pretty nonindicative to boot. But As I Know has the same ratio as the current frontrunner (albeit with fewer votes overall), and I think it should at least be a contender.
...And also, full disclosure, I feel pretty strongly that Informing the Fourth Wall is a vague and unhelpful title.
There are reasons other than misuse for the existence of the "line of dialogue" title ban. Namely, a tendency for titles with such a grammar structure to be underused.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI hadn't heard that before, actually. Makes sense. And everything is, after all, Worse With Snowclones.
And when they aren't underused, they get shoehorned into citing every time the phrase comes up ever, even if it's irrelevant to the trope.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickTo be fair, I did already explain why I don't think that particular concern is relevant here.
Bringing this back up. The crowner seems to have been going on for quite a while at this point. Disregarding the removed entries, one title's in the green. Call it?

Vote up for yes, down for no.
Oh, balls. Well. Do we need to do a crowner for this? Has anyone seen a title they're particularly fond of?
