I mean, that's another line that seems to be there for the sake of explaining and justifying things to the audience more than anything, so I think we're supposed to take it at face value. So I guess that means any name you go by works as long as you actually identify with it. Which to be honest I think was already the implication when it was explained?
Like, All For One is his villain name, right? Why wouldn't he answer to it? Spinner would probably work on Shuichi Iguchi, and Endeavor would probably work on Enji Todoroki and Deku would probably work on Izuku Midoriya. There's really no reason why it shouldn't.

I mean, Star's rule as it applies to people is about how they personally identify, and AFO does identify as AFO. It's a moniker he took for himself. Whether it's a "real" name or not is irrelevant, it's just about needing mutually agreed upon terms for who the subject is.
On that note, people can identify with more than one name.

More nitpicky, but he doesn't even call himself that. Everyone just refers to him by his Quirk name because no one knows his real name. We don't even know if he considers that his name.
No, he decided to go by the name of his Quirk. We were told that; it was his choice.
People don't know his real name, but that's not the only reason he's called AFO.

Given that one of the people who has opposed All For One over the years is his brother, I'm pretty sure his birth name isn't a secret.
If that was case, you'd think Tomura Shigaraki showing up would have raised way more eyebrows initially.
No one (save for maybe the Doctor) seems to know his actual name now, but it seems strange to assume that was always the case. Especially since, again, one of the main people to oppose him in the beginning was his own brother.
But, honestly, does it really strike you as unbelievable or out of character that AFO of all people would genuinely identify with a supervillain name? Knowing everything we do about him?

To be fair, I wouldnβt be surprised if AFO called himself like that to distance himself from his previous βweakβ form much like Voldemort did with Tom Riddle.
That and itβs not really rare that people go under a Meaningful Rename in that part of the world, so why wouldnβt AFO really identify himself with his Quirk rather than his original name?
Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, we should find the absolutes that tie us.[Goes back and double checks]

Quick question regarding Quirk inheritance, because I don't think this was discussed in-universe. If All for One takes your Quirk or gives you a new one, how does that work for you passing on your Quirk?
Example 1: Af O takes Bakugou's Quirk. Can any of his kids or further descendants inherit his explosion Quirk, or will they never inherit it? Same goes for his parent's Quirks that had merged into his.
Example 2: Af O takes Bakugou's Quirk and Kirishima's Quirk and swaps them with each other. So Bakugou can now make his skin hard, and Kirishima can blow things up. Will Kirishima's kids in this hypothetical be able to inherit their dad's original hardening Quirk, or their dad's new exploding Quirk? Will they be able to inhereit Bakugou's parent's Quirks that merged into the one Bakugou had? Will Bakugou be able to pass on his new hardening Quirk?
Who knows? I've seen speculation on Izuku having a kid who breaths fire like Hizashi.

This is kinda Fridge Logic at play here, but I noticed AM say that Af O didn't help vs Star cause her name calling might work on him, when I'm pretty sure her Quirk's conditions were a secret he only just learned during the fight?

Well, the exact specifics were secret but people knew roughly how her quirk worked from just watching her use it.
Also he's talked with Star's crew and it seems he knew her personally beforehand.
My Hero Academica: Ultra Rumble, the upcoming 24 player battle royale game, has been formally revealed via an announcement trailer.
Globku, an anime-focused video game You Tuber, has an in-depth 14-minute analysis of what's been revealed so far. Some details includes:
- Reveal roster of playable Heroesnote and Villains note so far.
- Japan-focused beta sign-ups and testing starting January 17-28, with 10,000 players being picked on January 31. The beta session lasts from February 2nd to February 6th.
- Starting map is the Provisional Licensing Exam site
- Special skill cards can be collected throughout the stage.
So, I bought the "Ultra Analysis" book at Target today. Here's some highlights I found in it. Keep in mind the book only covers up to the end of the MLA arc, so there will likely be some outdated info in certain areas.
- Katsuki Bakugo: The book indeed lists his personality as "abusive egotist"
. Which is especially weird since the very same page details his Redemption Arc, how he tries to win by saving people, and even lists his quote to the bratty kid about looking down on others.
- Shoto Todoroki: The book actually calls him an airhead. It is still amazing to me how dense he can be, and the fact he's actually listed as an airhead makes it funnier.
- Momo Yaoyorozu: She apparently is a big fan of Heavy Metal after Jiro introduced her to it.
- Fumikage Tokoyami: Much like Izuku and Kirishima, Tokoyami took heavy inspiration from his favorite hero: "Dark Crystal".
- Minoru Mineta: His special move "Mineta Beads" looking the way it does was not accidental. He actually was directly inspired by anal beads.
- Denki Kaminari: It's noted that him choosing to be a hero is considered unusual since Electric Type Quirks tend to find better markets in utility based fields that pay a lot.
- Kyoka Jiro: She became a fan of classical music after Momo introduced her to it.
- Hanta Sero: While not directly named due to copyright issues, Sero is noted to be a big fan of Spiderman, who apparently exists as an actual hero In-Universe.
- Mina Ashido: While she may be Book Dumb, she's the smartest in terms of social graces and reading people, hence her ability to make friends easy.
- Mezo Shoji: He's apparently from a different region than the rest of the class, and it's noted he faced a lot of discrimination due to his face. He took to wearing his mask after a little girl looked at his face and burst into tears.
- Mashirao Ojiro: He's developed his own martial art rather than practice any one particular one.
- Toru Hagakure: Her Quirk is said to be able to adjust her "refractive index of light". Meaning her Quirk lets her actually adjust how much light refracts off her... theoretically she could probably make herself visible by doing this, which explains why her face was shown when Yuga blasted her.
- Koji Koda: Apparently his family has a genetic trait that has them grow horns, meaning he will get horns, they just haven't grown in yet.
- Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu: Class 1-B apparently used his steel body for "Tetsutetsu BBQ", but quit doing so after learning the salty seasoning was due to his sweat.
- Neito Monoma: This doofus apparently has made it a routine to go to 1-A's dorm, walk into their living area, go on a massive speech, and then just walk right out. Not even the book knows what is wrong with him...
- Itsuka Kendo: Apparently her middle school is famous for it's students becoming U.A. alumni.
- Ibara Shiozaki: She is a big fan of Kamui Woods.
- Kinoko Komori: Her initial Hero Name was "Much Mush Muse", but she had to change it after realizing it was too hard to say.
- Juzo Honenuki: He's technically the one enabling Monoma, since whenever Monoma starts grumbling about 1-A, he usually tells Monoma to just say it to their faces.
- Pony Tsunotori: She began hosting anime parties at the dorms and has gotten the entire class hooked.
- Setsuna Tokage: She used to be a gyaru girl before changing into the upbeat girl she is now.
- Jurota Shishida: Hound Dog is his favorite teacher and inspiration, and while he tries to follow in his footsteps in using his animal instincts, his proper upbringing gets in the way.
- Shihai Kuroiro: He has absolutely zero skill talking to girls. He tends to just go right up to them and ask them if they're into him. While he does have a crush on Kinoko, she barely knows he exists.
- Kosei Tsuburaba: He greatly respects Shoto following the training camp. He, Kaibara, and Kuroiro are also to 1-B what Kaminari and Mineta are to 1-A.
- Yui Kodai: She's considered the most beautiful first year in the hero course, and was cast as Juliet because of this. She rarely talks more than "mm", and is the only one in 1-B who outright dislikes Monoma.
- Sen Kaibara: He's considered the "plainest" in his class, but is very straightforward and blunt.
- Manga Fukidashi: He's head over heels for Kenranzaki.
- Yosetsu Awase: His family runs a small town factory that he helps out at, and he's smitten with Momo ever since the training camp.
- Reiko Yanagi: She's close friends with Kendo, and hosts horror movie parties at the dorms.
- Hiryu Rin: His Hero Name is officially listed as "Long Weizi". He's considered The Reliable One in his class. He has a large adoration for Ryukyu, and she appears to be impressed with his skill with his Quirk.
- Togaru Kamakiri: He's got an obsession with carving shit, to the point he trains largely with Tetsutetsu since he can handle Togaru's blades carving into his steel.
- Mirio Togata: Partially exposing his body like when he only had his face out when first meeting Izuku is apparently very painful and requires intense focus, but he's willing to bear with it for the sake of a gag.
- Nejire Hado: Whenever she asks rapid fire questions, she's not actually interested in an answer, she's just spewing out whatever stray thoughts run through her head.
- Mei Hatsume: Apparently a lot of those companies she was marketing too back during the Sports Festival reached out to her like she wanted.
- Camie Utsushimi: Toga deliberately targeted her because she was an airhead and figured she could get her to go along with her without realizing anything.
- Nagamasa Mora: His Hero Name is a deliberate reference to Chewbacca In-Universe.
- Shikkui Makabe: When he was little, he accidentally used his Quirk on some rice balls and ended up shattering his dads teeth.
- Nezu: He likes squeezing himself into small spaces, and considers Aizawa's capture tool to be a comfy hiding spot.
- Nemuri Kayama: She tries to be professional as much as she can, and only lets her inner sadist out on occassion.
- Shinji Nishiya: Upon receiving an offer to form The Lurkers from Edgeshot, he was so emotional he cried for two hours straight.
- Mirai Sasaki: The two yellow streaks in his hair are dyed, made to be an homage to All Might.
- Kugo Sakamoto: Because of his terrifying appearance and refusal to tell anyone about his background, many question if he's actually human and not an animal with a Quirk. He is apparently not on good terms with Uwabami.
- Wild Wild Pussycats:
- Shino Sozaki: While she's the leader of the team now, back in college she was very reserved and withdrawn, having difficulty opening up to others until she met the others.
- Ryuko Tsuchikawa: She's the one who came up with the teams name and aesthetic, and was the one to get Shino out of her shell in college.
- Yawara Chatora: He has a popular internet series called "My Boot Camp".
- Tomoko Shiretoko: It was her idea to form the team. While she's currently quirkless, she's plenty analytical and intelligent on her own. She actually was interested in working with Momo before she lost Search.
- Sekijiro Kan: It's less Monoma "corrupted" him, and more that the two were just on similar wavelengths from the beginning.
- Ken Ishiyama: He likes "round" things, and even founded a group called "Hunt for the Perfect Roundness Association".
- Ectoplasm: No one knows his real name, and like Sakamoto he is frequently on the "Heroes who look like Villains" list.
- Mrs. Iida: She too was a pro-hero in the Iida family.
