Another thought: maybe Eri is somehow responsible for the boss's condition. It might explain why so many people are willing to go along with this, and why Overhaul seems to have a personal disdain for her.

So I have been wondering...

Does Ida really deserve to be listed among the Main Characters in the character page?

It seems that he is only there because people assumed that it would be the classical Two Guys and a Girl format with the first two classmates Deku talked with but he barely had any focus since his POV arc.

New Vigilante's chapter is out. luckily for crawler, people think his name is hauler

He hasn't been especially prominent since the Bakugo rescue arc but he's still a consistent enough presence the he may not need removal.

In a similar vein though I've begun to wonder if Kirishima should be added. He's kind of been in Ida's role of late.

I mean, by the same logic does Uraraka? I think a stronger case could be made for removing her, even though I think the author thinks of both of them as main(ish) characters, but this has turned into an Ensemble Cast where the ensemble gets a lot of relative panel time.

Kirishima already has the Rotating Protagonist trope tagged, so I propose we either:

1. Move Kiri to the main cast and create a subfolder for Rotating Protagonist's

2. Move both Ida and Uraraka to the rest of the class

3. Only move Ida to the rest and keep Uraka with the MC's by the virtue of being the female Love Interest .

Loved how the joke of everyone mistaking Crawler's name was used as a plot point here. The villain was also hilarious, specially due to me being Brazilian.

Just because Kirishima has gotten more focus than Iida in this arc (and it has only really been this arc) doesn't make him more of a main character.

When you get down to it, the most focus is given to those closet to Izuku, and among the students that's Bakugo, Uraraka, Iida, and Todoroki.

The only real main characters are Deku, All Might, and Bakugo. But you can make a convincing case that the series has become more of an ensemble piece as of late, with no set group of main characters. (Barring Deku obviously)

Bakugo, All Might, Todoroki, and Iida have been Out of Focus in this arc after all.

Sooo, I'd say just leave it as it is, the characters listed on the page have still had the most focus comparatively speaking to the rest of the class. Or just nuke the page and add them all the general class listing.

I Ida had barely any presence since the Hide-out raid arc. Kirishima was very prominent during said arc, shared a fight with Bakugo and Denki in the Hero License Exam Arc and now had a strong focus in the Internship arc.

Man that was a good Vigilante chapter. I love those Cyclops & Wolverine expys.

Also seeing that shot of popular heroes makes me wonder when we'll eventually see the unknown rank 2 formerly rank 3 hero.

Kirishima wasn't more prominent than Iida when they went to go rescue Bakugo. That entire situation also emphasized Iida's being against their actions, and his resolve to keep them from acting recklessly.

Saying Kirishima "shared" a fight with them is technically true, but also ignores that he was out of it for most of it, and only landed one blow at the end. That arc also had Iida's stuff with Aoyama to show that he's still progressing to be the kind of hero he wants be.

Like I said, this is the only arc Kirishima has been more prominent, and overall, Iida still beats him.

I disagree. The entire Bakugo rescue hinged on Kirishima's presence. No matter what other combination of characters was present, they wouldn't have succeeded without Kirishima.

In terms of arcs where they're the primary focus, they're more or less equal actually.

I think a bigger argument can be made that the this series is more of an Ensemble Cast than most people originally thought than Kirishima is replacing Iida in importance.

Though I will note, that at the beginning of the training camp Pixie-boob state that Izuku, Bakugo, Todoroki, and Iida are the most noteworthy in the class. Pretty sure that's the author telling us how he sees things.

That was good, butboth Izuku's and Iida's resolved are highlighted there as well, which is my point.

Think of it like tiers; everyone gets focus, but Deku, All Might, and Bakugo are like tier 1. Todoroki (Though he kinda borders on Tier 1), Iida, and Urakawa are tier 2, and so on and so forth.

I mean, I don't disagree with that, the disagreement seems to be over what tier Kirishima is a part of. If I had to describe his role, I'd say "Bakugo's Iida" interns of prominence, although the who is rubbing off on who is reversed.

Now for me, the question would be where does "Bakugo's Iida" belong?

I still feel like Hori places the current set of main characters above the rest. I guess seeing those five occupy the bottom row at the end of ch 97 (when they are coming back to school after all the crap during the summer vacation) made me think okay so these five are a thing.

Though given Kirishima's focus during hideout raid and internship arc, I can see Kirishima being bumped up to main character tier like Todoroki was during the sports festival arc, depending on how later arcs play out.

Anyway, Iida has too much significance to count out imo. Hideout raid was a major moment for him too. Without Kirishima there would not have been a rescue party at all, and without Iida Midoriya would have rushed out into AFO's face with no plan, killed himself and possibly rest of the kids, and make All Might watch all that. After Kamino, All Might praises Midoriya for making it out of tough spot without hurting himself. That's basically the narrative rewarding Midoriya for having a friend who has a different view on heroism and looks out for him. He's also got something of a personal connection to Stain and we can easily imagine that Stain is going to be very important once he enters the picture again.

Actually I only brought up Kirishima to showcase that he has caught up to Iida in terms of screen time and that it should be I Ida who should be demoted because his initial prominence that made people believe he would be a core member didn't stick.

As far as I am concerned most of class A not named Deku or Bakugou are Rotating Protagonist s with some of them just being further developed yet.

But like has been mentioned, Iida being apart of the "top of the class" or "main group" seems to be Horokishi's own line of thinking.

Maybe Kirishima will get a bump and this arc is a prelude to that, but I wouldn't say this is enough to say that he and Iida are equal in prominence.

I like that there's rotating focus (although Uraraka could stand more). Its better than focusing on the same five assholes as I slowly grow to resent them.

I think he likes having the "main group" involved with what others students are involved in, but is generally good at not making it feel like they're being overshadowed.

Like, Momo's insecurity issues centered on Todoroki, and he was apart of it, but it still felt about her.

I don't think any ascension of Kirishima's has to come at the cost of Ida's demotion. As has been mentioned, they're about equal in screen time, and both are close friends to one of the central characters.
