These ain't endings, the very thing says they are side stories.

Also, why would new content that isn't characters and patches be bad? People often forget that Arcade Edition basically saved Street Fighter V.

Mechanic patches can still come years after the release, minor as they are in size due to just being code adjustments. And content patches don't need to be limited to characters. Balance indeed keeps players on the competition, tournaments attract money... But game sales are still the main show, even in this current era. I mean, why only try to conquer a niche of the audience? Wouldn't it be smarter to try to appeal to all fans of the franchise?

As far as I remember, it was exactly the overall content (not just the missing fan favorites (Anna, anyone?), but also the Story Mode, and the Arcade Mode, even the shrunk-down customization has gotten flak in some front) that made Tekken 7 what the very YMMV page of Tekken considers the most divisive game since T4 on the Broken Base entry.

Trying to be constructive on the opinion here.

Idk I don't follow much fan input outside of the competitive scene anymore because that side of the fence is really negative and not worth taking part of because people's expectations of how things should go overrules the actual reality and capability of the people producing the content and that just ends up being a mess I stopped being apart of.

If Tekken 7 is the new Tekken 4 then people don't exactly know why Tekken 4 was disliked.

I played Tekken 4, and I remember having experienced firsthand why it is so hated: the altered, weird mechanics which basically made the game harder to play.

Tekken 7 just happened to be divisive for a different reason.

It was just the really rocky gameplay iterations that made people dislike 4, yeah? I thought the whole package outside that was alright.

As far as I remember, it was the gameplay indeed. Well, T4 is the game that brought Kazuya back after all. But the package itself outside of the gameplay wasn't bad.

Yeah T4's issue was coming from TTT 1's gameplay and rose-tinted glasses. There's a lot of good in T4 that isn't really replicated because Harada and Co. don't know how to actually take negative criticism (something a lot of developers seem not to be able to do) and just throw the baby out with the bathwater.

A lot of Namco's future issues with Tekken and Soul Calibur stem from T4 and SCII (2002-2003) funnily enough.

It's actually funny when both these games were followed by what seem to be very beloved entries (Tekken 5 and Soulcalibur III).

That is very debatable. It certainly didn't boost it's sales, because it was reported to have sold only 100,000 extra copies. And on a personal level while I appreciate the inclusion of Arcade Mode, it didn't fix the core issues I had with the game, and introduced new ones in regards to how Fight Money and Extra Battles are handled. I am 100% for singleplayer content being patched into fighting games, like Shadow Lords in Killer Instinct, but I wouldn't say that SFV AE was saved by it at all.

Feels like they doubled down hard in the other direction for 5 on, which is a shame. It felt like the plot was going somewhere with 4.

T5 and SCIII are beloved yeah but its then where you start to see the trends that people would come to hate about both series as well. Tekken's story started losing its focus and its cast was the largest the series had seen up to that point. Soul Calibur III had a brand new team (SC 1 and SCII shared teams) and would continue reforming project soul for every game to this very day and it explains why SCIII, IV, V can feel so very different and Tekken still mostly consistent. I wont get into Soul Calibur's identity issues because not a lot of people share that train of thought.

[up][up][up] Fair enough on the FM bullshit. It's the one thing in Arcade Edition that I found an idiotic maneuver.

[up][up] Now that I think about it, the story in T4 was really good. Something went off the rails with T5, maybe because of Jinpachi and the whole "Heihachi is dead" deal? T6 didn't deal well with the fifth game's outcome either, what with the "Heihachi was in a coma during T5" dealnote .

[up] SCIII and IV still were good games when it comes to Soulcalibur. They indeed feel different from one another tho, but so did Tekken since the third game in my opinion.

T2-T3 were just growing pains like Street Fighter 1 to 2 or Soul Edge to Soul Calibur.

The changes we see in Soul Calibur compared to Tekken after the franchises were well established are staggering. Not saying SCIII or SCIV are bad games (well I'm not really fond of SCIV). Just trying to point out how inconsistent the series has been since Soul Calibur II whereas Tekken outside of TTT 2 has remained steadily consistent.

It just has come to me, how come the Tekken games have no individual pages? Same goes for Soul Calibur before V.

They're not very popular here is the only reason I can think of. The Tekken thread's a whole lot slower than the Soul Calibur one.

Eight unknown DLC entries have been discovered on the PC version's registry. Could Alex and Tiger Jackson still have a chance?!

Tiger has no reason to be here.

But Roger Jr/Alex, Lei, and Julia at a bare minimum need to come back. Still holding out hope for Kiryu.

I need more Funk Goes On in my life.

Hey, if they add Roger and Lei back in, I might actually get around to picking this up.

Reportedly the input lag was reduced by another frame with the anniversary patch, at least on PS 4. Down to 4.5 frames, which is below Tag 2's lag (not sure if with or without motion blur though).

This will sound hypocritical, but I can't care less for characters who didn't originally make it. Nina and Eddy are already in, so I got no complaints on that part.

I'm not interested on character selection inflation. But then again, this is me being extremely jaded by how this game turned out. If a new season only means extra characters, then Harada has nothing to offer to me.

Because it's been a very visible and tedious trend with you. In most times I have seen you post you end up going into a blind rage over the same thing over and over. There was already a conversation about Tekken 7 and it ended with a lot of your posts being thumped. The same can be said about Soul Calibur V.

So I question why go through all the unneeded anger it can't exactly be healthy. Also no not saying be happy all the time, but being mad about it at this point isn't any better.

Was not my intention. I intended to say more on the previous post, but I felt like it wouldn't be the right thing to say or it would be rude. Even if I keep my cool, I'm not a genius with wording. Such is that I'm constantly editing my own posts to either complement the stuff, correct my grammar errors, or find the right words.

This is even how some posts end up becoming text walls on my part.

Also, on the other threads, I actually was shown to act rather normally.
