Tbh, the Master Emerald in the games never really had much overt connection to the Chaos Emeralds, especially in 3&K. Offhand, the whole "use the Master Emerald to control the Chaos Emeralds" thing in Adventure 2 was the first time they had ever done anything together besides exist within the same spaces and have vague lore connecting them.
So they could totally do a movie that just has one without the other without much trouble. Even the thing about the Super Emeralds you could just have the Master Emerald do directly.

Movie and TV Goddess
I'm actually excited for the plot of this movie! I'm glad that they are taking more from the games and it would be interesting to see how Sonic and Tails would find the emerald. I just hope that there's going to be a lot of character moments in this film between Sonic and Tails, like there were many moments between Tom and Sonic in the first film!

I had no idea on who he was, and the article picture made me confused. He is mostly an actor known for television series, although he has done voice acting in the DC animated movies.
He was the voice of Cyborg.

It's interesting how long filming has taken. The first film took about a month to shoot.

I can see it with introducing them in the shrine where the Master Emerald is supposed to be, with Knuckles saying that they're powerful, but useless without the Master Emerald until Sonic uses them without it to fight a ME-powered Egg robot.
