The picture has literally zero context. I don't know a thing about the work. It's just some weaselly thing, no explanation.

Agreed. I looked through some of the examples and didn't see a good replacement, but as is the current is pure JAFAAC.

JAFAAC, yeah.

I'm not even understanding the trope, come to think of it. Explain?

Well, it's a weasel and it's got something around its neck so it seems domesticated. That hardly seems like JAFAAC. Weak, sure, but not JAFAAC.

It'd be better if we could work in more of the "weasel-y" attributes to the picture, though. Examples really are all over the place, ranging from "Non-Human Sidekick is a weasel or relative" to "Mascot isn't a a weasel, but is sneaky like one!" to "FUCK CONTEXT."

Although I never played Garou: Mark of the Wolves, I was thinking Hotaru Futaba and her pet marten/sable Ikokatsu (alternate image), personally. I think she's an example (well, martens aren't weasels I suppose, but they're both mustelids), although she's not listed under the Video Games folder.

[up][up]The trope seems to be kinda muddled so I sent it to TRS. Take a look.

I'd say wait and see how that TRS turns out.

I am fine with putting this off until TRS resolves.

Somehow I was under the impression that this was about using mustelidae as the Team Pet, and that it was a pattern that had started in Magical Girl shows and spread to other anime. However, I'm not seeing direct evidence of this on the page itself.

Perhaps we could change this to mustelidae that are depicted as playful/mischievous/tricksters rather than as Wicked Weasal}}s, and drop the whole "mascot" angle. Sorta like Playful Otter.

Let's shut this down and revisit it when the TRS thread comes to a decision about what to do.
