My favorite video game-related April Fools prank is without a doubt this one by the Mario Wiki. Judging from the talk page it actually managed to fool some of the contributors.

Disney Infinity is apparently getting scented "Smell FX" figures to use in the game...

@56 What were the first and fourth ones supposed to be?

Tokyo 7th Sisters had a fake announcement of an audio drama of the very first player character. The subreddit for the game proceed to switched the character flairs into said character.

Elemental Story had changed the map into an alleged "PS2 Version" and the map ended up ridiculous looking, with the map turned brown with random scribbles appear all over it.

Do Video Game Championship Wrestling count? This day it started with a fake out intro that made it seem like that it would be the main show, then they go to Women's Video Game Championship Wrestling instead, and the real intro starts.

The fact that I want that to be real so much kind of kills the humor for me.

I was all "oh, is that Garuda? OOOOOH, SHIT THAT'S GARUDA (and Hokuto and Kairi, i guess)! WHY ISN'T THIS REAL?"

That said, for at least one company I'm expecting the "joke" to be that there isn't one and they fooled us into discarding actual information (it's the kind of joke I would pull). Arika being smart enough to do that is wishful thinking, though.

In Pokemon Go, starting midnight local, Ash or Ash cap Pikachu will photobomb you instead of Smergle if you go into Snapshot mode. This also spawns Ash Cap Pikachu for capture.
