I would rather keep it here based on how we did the same thing for similar live action/animation hybrids.
It's been 3000 years…I'm fine with the discussion moving here for the aforementioned reasons.
Fair enough. If Sonic and Space Jam are discussed here, then so should this movie.
Ehhhh, it looks like most of it will be in live-action, so I elect keeping this thread and locking the other one.
My two cents: there's something here. I've only ever seen this much medium blending in like two shows, namely Amazing World of Gumball and Smiling Friends and the similarly-produced-by-Disney Who Framed Roger Rabbit, so by comparison, this looks like it could beat them in terms of scope?
And the whole "used to be a thing, but then weren't, so now they go back to being a thing" plot could work to some degree? It could still work? I mean, The Muppets did it like, what, twice now?
Plus, this appears to share a lot of DNA with Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, but obviously with more family-friendliness and focusing on cartoons rather than musical celebrities, and there's already some affectionate parodying going on with the conversion of 2D-to-CG being treated similarly to plastic surgery. I'd be hard-pressed to find if anyone else has done that.
A lot of the gags in the trailer feel like the result of overthinking the premise of Roger Rabbit. When a cartoon gets rebooted do the toon cast need to alter their own appearances to fit the new art style? Apparently yes. When a badly animated movie comes out is that because the toons themselves are permanently badly animated? Apparently also yes. Not sure how I feel about that. I think the attention drawn to the varying animation style makes it more jarring that Chip's animation is so blatantly fake 2D.
I feel the main draw for this film is A)Rodger Rabbit B)the cameos
Its probably going to get a similar reception to the Tom and Jerry movie
New theme music also a boxThose two are actually one, since Roger Rabbit is also a cameo.
So... where is Gadget? I have to be honest, I'm a bit upset the female character seems to have been shoved to the side...
It’s not about the desti-something, it’s about the whatever.I've waited my whole life for some kind of sequel to Who Framed Roger Rabbit and now that it's here, I have no idea how to feel. I'm getting major Gremlins 2 vibes, and I wanna say that's a good thing, but there's about as much bad as good in that trailer.
I agree that this movie looks like it's going to explain too much about the Roger Rabbit universe. In the original, the lack of explanations feels like a very considered choice. It doesn't tell you how/why the Toons exist because that isn't the point. It's just fantasy; it doesn't need an explanation. But this looks like it's shining a big fat spotlight on those questions, and that feels like a huge mistake.
At least this isn't Disney-only. I can't believe MC Scat Cat and the My Little Pony gang is there. Something tells me we're not going to see anyone from Warner Bros, though.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?This looks delightful. It's already got a Tainted by the Preview on it's YMMV page. Can you call it a Spiritual Sequel to Who Framed Roger Rabbit when Roger Rabbit is in it?
You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midThis looks terrible; yes, screw the Mouse World adventures and let's have a meta-story about being washed up celebrities.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984I really don't know what to make of the trailer. I kinda think it could be interesting if executed well. But this feels like a premise that's hard to execute well.

Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself. To be fair, the original Looney Tunes pilot kind of addresses this. An animator drew them, and they came to life. Simple as that.
With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationhttps://whatsondisneyplus.com/chip-n-dale-rescue-rangers-disney-original-teaser-trailer-released/
Looks like Tress Mac Neille will still have a role in the movie despite being replaced as Chip.
There have been other explanations, like the book's:
- Back when the world was a ball of ferns, when a good front lawn was a half-acre of bubbling slime, a giant amoeba split in two. The front half, the end with the brains, called itself Los Angeles. The butt end became Toon Town.
I appreciate that the movie didn't provide one, personally. It's like it just pretends that Toons are a normal and expected part of life, even to the audience. Like, I'm not saying an explanation has no chance of working, but I personally didn't want one.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Chip and Dale never struck me as characters who would fit in a "meta" angle.
Agreed. Some people are saying they should've been OCs instead and I'm inclined to agree. I don't exactly mind that it's Chip and Dale though.
Is the anime woman at 1:03 an existing character?

Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?In fairness, one could argue that their Rescue Rangers personas are a far cry from the original shorts (something the recent Chip 'n' Dale: Park Life series attempted to bring back).
I'm not sure, but I notice everyone's been trying to place a finger on what she's inspired by.
Simpsons' Plusary was ahead of its time
I just noticed the Frankenstein's Monster like things that appeared near the end of the teaser had the head of Marie from The Aristocats.
Was it Marie, not Felicia from The Great Mouse Detective?
I think it also had the arm of Wreck-It Ralph.
Yeah, it looks like Felicia's head, Ralph's left arm, and Robin Hood's torso. Not sure who or what the right arm is supposed to be from, though.
It looks like Zurg's cannon arm the most to me.
It's been 3000 years…
On the other hand, this is more of a live-action production from all I'm seeing, so it makes more sense here. But I don't have any particular stake.
EDIT: Pagetopper'd. Discussion on whether to lock this and move to the Western Animation thread or vice versa.
