So Jada Pinkett Smith is Fish Mooney? I'd probably watch that. Good see ladies of colour getting meaty roles like this originally meant for dudes. I'd love to see the ridiculous "but a woman can;t play a mob boss" rants from rabid fans.

I could maybe accept Bruce being on the show(even if that isn't ideal and is contrived as hell) but the kid versions of Selena and Poison Ivy being on it just gives me a "this is gonna suck" feeling. I will watch at least the first few episodes but I don't have a lot of hope.

I think young Poison Ivy could work. You could do a sort of X-Men angle on it - imagine a kid with burgeoning plant control powers and a family that keeps her locked indoors out of fear of her abilities. That'd work, so long as you don't get carried away with it.

I take issue with Bruce dropping to his knees and screaming, "Noooooooooo!" when his parents are shot. And with Catwoman dressing in skintight leather and jumping around rooftops as a prepubescent girl. And with Gordon's lack of a mustache. I want this show to be good, but right now I am pessimistic.

Just....make an actual Batman show. This "Batman show without the Batman" thing seems like it'll end badly. End the movie-exclusive embargo, WB. This show is just going to be terrible, IMO, because it's already spending an inordinate amount of time focusing on Bruce Wayne and all of these other people who are not going to be relevant for another 15-20 years instead of focusing exclusively on Jim Gordon's early career as detective.

They will never make a Batman series as long as it's the only part of their movie franchise that doesn't tank.

Love the trailer. Btw, does anyone else keep making the mental slip that this is a CW show? because it would fit so well into the Arrow universe.

I don't make the slip but I did wish it was on the CW so that it could potentially be a shared universe.

I'm confused by some things: 1) Why are they walking down a dark alley? Wouldn't their murder on a sidewalk be more realistic? 2) Isn't Catwoman supposed to be as old as Batman? Why's she look ten years older?

Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne are played by actors that are one year apart in age. The actress that plays Selina Kyle is 14 and the actor that plays Bruce Wayne is 13.

Well, traditionally the Waynes were taking a shortcut through Crime Alley after seeing a movie.

"Crime Alley, what a delightfully named place to take a shortcut. It'll be like that summer in Impaled Forrest or that winter in Frozen Corpse Resort!"

I can't say the show looks perfect, but it does look interesting and has the right tone to it. The fact it is showcasing a lot of characters and not focusing on just one, especially that Gordon is the main character, gives it a stronger series-quality narrative than Smallville ever did.

^ I think it was named Crime Alley after the Waynes were killed.

Just saw the trailer. Don't know why everyone is hating on the series, tbh. Looks pretty promising, the actor they chose for Gordon is perfect and I like that it's sort of a prelude to everyone in the series. I do hope we at least get a glimpse of Harley Quinn as a undergrad student or high school whatever.

Sort of reminds me of that fake "Aurors" trailer a while back.

Those comments have a point. The show might get cancelled early because it's on FOX.

I think Harley's probably younger than Bruce. One of the things that worries me about this series is that they'll introduce characters at ages that will seem weird once they've aged another 10+ by the time Batman shows up. Like with Riddler. He's already an adult on the show, but in the comics he doesn't seem to be too much older than Batman.
