And I'm just curious if they can even manage to come close to what they've been saying about the game.

It's always good to err on the side of caution when it comes to games and the big claims they make. I learned that lesson the hard way.

Even then, it's still cool to think about what it might be like.

Is not impressed.

Not necessarily new information, but here's a list of the features being touted for NMS. This could necessitate updating the tropes page with this information.

Too easy.

I like everything I read there except the no manual save thing.

Also wondering if it's possible to turn off the online.

I wish I was getting Fable flashbacks. This game is giving me Spore flashbacks. sad

What makes a good man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?

Spore was an okay game. And it did technically deliver on it's core promises. Fable was uh, not at all what was claimed. Still a fairly good game but go find an interview with peter and like 5% of what he claimed was in the game actually was there.

I'm fine with no manual saving if there's a lotta checkpoints. Assassin's creed does it fairly well where there's a save point after basically anything of note happens and it doesn't interrupt the flow of gameplay.

I'm getting more concerned with how they plan to balance the game. They claim you won't set-up shop on a primary planet BUT also claim that if your ship is blowed up you lose your shit and have to build another. Okay, but they also claim that the combat will be harder closer to the center of the galaxy. So will the scrap heaps i put together on inner galactic planets just be superior to the thing I've been flying previously? Or will I have to fly back to earlier planets to gather the necessary gear?

Is there like a home base you can set up or do you live outta your space fighter like some greazy interstellar hobo?

From the sounds of it we're going hobo style. Apparently we'll be only flying smaller ships so I guess resource management will be a thing. Unless the only point to hitting terra firma is to get stuff to sell for actual gear. In which case I don't know why you would ever get into any actual fight as you could lose everything.

I dunno, I hope we get a home base we can set up somewhere. Like even a tiny garage or something.

I love being a space hobo and all but I dunno if I wanna be a space hobo forever.

If we're space hobos, I'm claiming Bebop and Aloha Oe as names for my ship(s) right now.

It'll be Red Dwarf for me. A game where you play a space hobo sounds awesome.

Better add Serenity to my list. I don't doubt for a second that I'll get blown up at least twice.

No idea why but it just came to me and I love it.

I'll take Normandy, and if she goes down I'll name her successor Normandy SR-2. I'm banking on Normandy to go down so that I can completely overhaul Normandy SR-2 like in the games; and should she fall, I'll name SR-2's successor Arin Hanson's Magic Pimp Bus.

Well, I'm trying to keep to the small ship, space hobo theme, and staffed military vessels kind of don't. Otherwise, I would have jumped aboard the Galactica.

Millennium Falcon and Highwind are still available; any takers? I, reluctantly, have to pass. Calling more than three ships in advance is just greedy. If/when the Serenity goes down, I'll christen my new ship on the fly (with respect to you lot, of course).

[up]In all honesty, I don't think *anyone* has ever thought of christineing their third ship Arin Hanson's Magic Pimp Bus.

And you do have to admit, a ship with that sort of name just sounds stupidly cool.

[up][up][up]I would've taken Voyager, but Normandy and Normandy SR-2 were what immediately popped into my head.

Another apology for doubleposting, but another list of features has cropped up. This one seems more comprehensive, too—hints at a Big Bad, the ability to combine resources, a control scheme (based on the PlayStation 4's controller, natch), emphasis on the Rule of Fun, definitely no construction element (though there probably won't be anything stopping you from setting up shop in one of the many, *many* buildings on these worlds), less than 1% of a chance of you encountering a flourishing garden-type world, planets will be planet-sized, and if you *do* encounter another player, it'll be like Journey and Dark Souls rather than most MMORPGs today—you won't know who that player is.

Still like everything but the lack of manual saves.

This is an ambitious list though, I can only hope it goes well.

True, the no saves thing has me a bit perturbed. Still, if half of the things on this list are in the final game this is going to be epic!

[up] and [up][up]: Quite honestly, I don't care about the lack of manual saving—I've played enough Minecraft to have plenty of experience with a lack of it. What I'm more concerned about is the story—what are the significances of The Atlas and The Malevolent Force? What happened in the days before me? And who are some of the species I could possibly encounter or play as?

And also, what'll the music be like? Will it be like Minecraft's, where it's ambient and only plays once in a while, or will it be like more traditional games?

Too easy.
