Changed w/o discussion: The Nth Doctor

A troper named goldenroad changed the picture on The Nth Doctor from this◊ to this◊, to reflect the new status of the Trope Namer. Can't find any discussion on it so I reverted it and brought it here for discussion.

While I don't object to the new picture, personally, I would suggest waiting a month for the NEW new status, since it's going to change in the Christmas special anyway.

The second link is giving me a 404.

The same issue's going on with Doctor Who - I think the consensus as of now is to keep the eleven doctors (+Hurt) and wait until next year to add Capaldi. I think the same can be applied here.

It's because the link is so long, it automatically gets broken up; delete the extra "- " in the URL bar of your browser, or make a tinyurl version and post that.

In the Series.Doctor Who thread, it was suggested that a Non-Doctor Who character might be a better idea for The Nth Doctor.

Well, while it isn't a non-Doctor Who character, I made a suggestion in the other thread (which I suppose I should repeat here) that was at least not the Doctor himself. Instead, it was the Master◊.

I agree with the OP. There's no point changing the pic now if it's going to need to be changed again after the Christmas special.

Unless, of course, as some have suggested, we change it to a character other then the Doctor.

I second(third?) the OP, we might as well wait until all is "official" to make the change then... as to avoid jumping the gun like goldenroad did.

But... a Non Doc Who image is also perfectly acceptable to me as well.

Given that this trope is not about Doctor Who, I am fine with using someone else.

I'd argue for a non DW image simply to show it's not a DW specific trope.

I've been thinking about Joan of Arcadia, the character of God.

"Same character, different episodes"

The trope is roughly "New actor playing the same character is explained in-universe." None of the examples I am familiar with would make a good picture; I'm not sure that can be pictured, actually. The current image certainly doesn't, and it's a duplicate of the page image on Series.Doctor Who anyway. Vote pull.

I like the suggested collage of pictures of The Master.

Also, given there is no inherent reason why a picture would need to be replaced just because yet another version of the character has come out. Even having only pictures of two of the many versions of the character would be sufficient to communicate the idea of the character changing, especially when paired with a good caption.

I just want an image which isn't related to the trope namer in any way, already carries enough baggage being called The Nth Doctor.

Neither the Doctor nor the Master wear the same costume or are otherwise recognizable as the same character in their various incarnations.

Which is kinda the point, isn't it?

OK but presumably "it's the same character" would be part of the caption, along with a lot of other information.

I was thinking of El Chamelón from Machete Kills who basically changes appearance by pulling off his current form , thus switches actors several times. My only concern is: I'm not sure if it's spoilery because Lady Gaga is one of his forms, and it's played for shock.

I still prefer my The Master suggestion, but just to throw another suggestion into the ring, how about Cromartie from The Sarah Connor Chronicles?

Well, unless we can get permission to have an exception to the restriction on animated gifs(which I don't think we need to do), I can't really think of a way to do it other then a collage.

Mind you, if other creative ideas present themselves, then excellent.

Well, if I could (meaning if I had a computer with the best photo editing software or a computer period), id like to whip up something else besides the plain tiled collages we've been using all these years for just about everything.

Something like The Miracle Album, by Queen◊. Where each face blends into the other symbolizing the transition of forms.

Edit Or something in the style of the faces of Bond.◊ Where each actor and or character is properly positioned on a fitting background.
