Welcome, Tropers, to the Avatar Arena(4.0)!

Now, in this game, there be rules. I am in the habit of asking new players whether they've read them first thing when they show up, so if you could just confirm that you've read them in your first post, that'd be dandy. The three biggest rules read as thus:

1. Thou shalt not be a dick. I do not tolerate dickery in my games. If thou art unsure as to whether a given action would count as dickery, ASK. ME. FIRST.
2. Thou shalt play as thy bloody avatar. Thine avatar shalt be the avatar as which thou art bloody well playing ^note (That means that the character(s) currently in the picture by the side of your posts is/are the only character(s) as whom you are currently playing).
3. Thou shalt be... sportsmanlike. The purpose of a game is not to win; it is to have fun. If people aren't having fun, somebody's doing it wrong.

The Combat Rules, and Rule Zero, below are required reading; if you don't read them, I will notice, and you will get yelled at. As for Looting/Equipment and Environment, the really important stuff is in bold.

The current setting is Lumiose City, from Pokemon X and Y (map◊; pic◊).

Combat: Pretty much the usual for Play-by-Post Games: You attack; the guy you attacked says whether or not it hit; reverse, repeat. No autohits (wording an attack as if it's already determined to hit), no ghosting (dodging an egregious number of attacks in a row), and no ignoring attacks; if you get ninja'd, edit in a response. Don't try to edit extra actions into a post that aren't reactions, though; there's no guarantee they'll be noticed. If a player goes AFK (Away From Keyboard, i.e. leaves the thread) while his and your avatars are in combat, just pretend his avatar vanished into thin air and move on. The Arena is not an RP; Anyone Can Die here, and respawning is an official feature of the thread; Plot Armor does not apply. Alliances, whether temporary or permanent, are allowed; however, A: this is not a social thread, and B: too much friendship makes for a posse, which is never sporting and almost never fair. That said, there are rules to be used in the event of a posse: If one player is being attacked by two or more other players at once, all players involved take turns, with the defending player going last, lest the fight devolve into one big pile of confusion and ninjas. I ran several bossfights in v3, so take my word for it; if everybody is not taking turns, nobody is having fun.

Looting/Equipment: Looting a downed avatar's corpse is allowed; mind you, when a player respawns his character after death, his corpse inexplicably disappears, so you'll want to be quick about it; if a character's body is looted and he respawns afterwards, he will be missing whatever equipment was taken (Weapons and equipment cannot be duplicated this way). Weapons, equipment, mounts and/or vehicles may also be acquired from the surroundings themselves, provided they can plausibly be found in the setting. When an avatar is killed, anything they're carrying that they obtained in the Arena is dropped on the ground where they were killed, even if they respawn ^note (If, on the other hand, an avatar leaves the Arena on purpose and returns later, they will still have any Arena loot they had when they left, even if their player switched them for someone else in between) ^note (If a looted avatar returns or respawns again while the looter is absent from the thread at least three RL days after the theft, they regain their lost equipment; if they do, the looter will be missing it upon their return).

Environment: This is a PvP combat thread, not PvE. I discourage, but do not prohibit, attacking and/or damaging the scenery ^note (Destroying or trying to destroy so much of the setting that we need a new one, without my express permission, is a surefire way to piss me off); anyway, the thread's lack of enforced continuity means that basically all damage is temporary. Also, Non Player Characters do not exist in the Arena, although wildlife that is native to the current setting can appear; such fauna is under the control of whoever decided to have it appear, within reason ^note (An animal a player decides to have appear cannot attack or directly interact with another player's avatar unless it's under the first player's avatar's control). The setting can only change if at least four players agree that it should. At least four are also needed to agree on what the new setting should be; this may turn into a vote, and it may very well take a week or longer (although nowadays, it seems to happen a lot faster). Also, any new setting must have at least one serviceable map. If you leave the Arena for awhile and come back, I suggest you check this post in case the setting has changed.

Rule Zero: I, Knowlessman, am the Game Master of this game. My word goes. My approval isn't absolutely necessary in order to change the setting, but if the current one doesn't appear in this post, PM me and I'll edit it in, along with the map. Most avatars do not require my okay to be brought into the game, but there are exceptions to everything; if you're not sure whether or not a given avatar or action is okay, ask me first. Odds are decent I'll let it in if you ask. Good examples of what should be asked about first include, but are very importantly not limited to: any character of a power level comparable to or greater than Superman or Son Goku, or of a size comparable to or greater than Godzilla; most videogame bosses; anything to do with time; and anything to do with the Fourth Wall.

"... Huh?"

A harsh electric buzzing sound crackles to life not far where Kite is and from out of thin air, The Cyborg Ghost who once fought on the far-off land of Valhalla swaggers confidently towards kite; his black blood power spatha drawn and almost seems hungry for blood.

"Fancy meeting you here, but then again; I'm oddly drawn to such places full of killers and freaks."

The Ghost chuckles in a very unsettling manner

"That was an alliance of convenience... But now, nature must run it's course."

Faster than the eye can see, the Ghost takes out one of the many, many knives on his person and throws it towards Kite's head faster than an arrow.

Kite just barely manages to dodge, losing a tiny bit of hair from the knife.

THIS IS WHAT NATURE PLANNED

Kite takes out a single Black Blood Blade, and an Edge Shard blade, for some DUAL BOSS LOOT ACTION.

He fires an Edge Wave Sword Beam Thingy.

The Ghost rolls away from the sword beam and hurls a pair of knives at Kite as he closes in for bloody melee, looking to land a stab in.

-Rotates around to watch the fight, but does nothing yet-

Kite ducks the attack, and extends his Blood Blade at Ghost's stomach.

What is this place?

The Ghost's instincts kick in and he manages to block the black blood spike at the last moment with his free arm, cracking the vambrace/wrist armor but thankfully not penetrating. With a vaguely excited snarl, the Ghost retaliates with his own black blood spike, but unlike Kite's single stab, the Ghost unleashes several in rapid succession, a spike extending with each thrust of his sword.

Now, this would kill any normal person.

But Kite runs on literal video game logic, and only takes moderate damage.

"Gah!"

He jumps back, trying to position THE SEA and GHOST between him.

This is getting juuuuust a little weird.

- sits and watches -

Breathing fairly deeply after exerting himself, The Ghost then attempts to get his enemy to make a move by spreading his arms out to the side and taking a step closer to Kite.

"What's this? Afraid of a shell of a man enhanced with robot bits? I'm mortal like you y'know!"

Kite makes a move

A healing spell to be exact.

The Ghost notices the heal spell by virtue of his psychic powers and in a flash, he was upon Kite and attempted to open up an attack string on him by shoving his fist into the boy's sternum.
