Basically that kind of plot extrapolated into a series, the 'whatever it is' becoming the main villain.

Watched episode 3 a little earlier today.

Getting back to this Big Bad argument, I understand that the Kyrieloid doesn't appear again until much later in the series. I find it odd that they had a clear shot at Big Bad right there (a race that has already lived on Earth even before Tiga and the other Dark Giants showed up but just stayed in the background until they decided lets beat up this dude to show how cool we are) and they didn't take it. Seems like an odd choice.

Does Tiga have a finisher in his Sky Form. I've seen one for Power and the middle ground form, but not Sky.

Yep. Runboldt Beam Shell is the name of his finisher in Sky Type

Episode 4 down.

In the end, while they couldn't reclaim their lives, they could at least regain their freedom.

A rather sad end for those Astronauts, but it's something.

Episode 5.

The way to a monsters death is through his stomach. Namely, through a Natural Gas tank in his stomach blasted by Tiga.

Truly a lesson we should all take to heart.

Listen Feed It a Bomb is a age old tactic. Truly stands the test of time.

Well, they didn't exactly feed it the bomb.

It literally absorbed the bomb (which, again, was a natural gas tank) through its stomach, and then Tiga just detonated it.

Thankfully, its stomach acids didn't destroy it before it could be detonated.

I mean, I count it, but there's an argument to be made about it not technically counting I guess.

Gotta love the weird weaknesses some of the kaiju have though.

The funniest is definitely Skydon's.

As much as Ultraman has got very good at "the Ultra and the kaiju have a physical fight and the Ultra shoots some beams sometimes" it is nice that they vary up the fights beyond that.

By the way, does Tiga not ever speaking when he's Tiga-ing?

I think he might once or twice, but generally speaking no, he and other Ultramen prior to the 2010s or so rarely speak up while transformed. Plenty of kiais, and more emotional or dramatic episodes might prompt them to talk clearly, but those are more the exception than the norm.

The Bat thing was childlike, but still liked eating people.

The dude in the ship was secretly an asshole.

The evil dream eating Witch.... was an evil dream eating Witch (with straight A's at Evil Dream Eating Witch School).

That's it! Tiga's just gonna beat up the next asshole who shows up!

Double post for episode 11.

So we have our first human turned Kaiju (in this series I suppose).

Immediately, you could tell Tiga was pulling his punches. He was flipping around a lot more and clearly stalling for time. Even GUTS realized he cottoned on to the monster being human.

He almost didn't make it though. It was essentially a battle of Attrition between who's timer would run down first, and Tiga barely won.

Gotta say, that timer does add quite a bit of tension. Once it starts blinking, you're left to wonder if our hero will manage to win before he times out....what happens if an Ultra times out? Has it ever happened before? Now I'm curious.

Also, it dawns on me that the Ultra series clearly takes place farther in the future than either Super Sentai or Kamen Rider (which seem to take place in the present day barring more fantastical elements). They have spaceships and space stations with lasers on them and shit.

What happens to an Ultraman when his Color Timer runs out tends to vary between series. Sometimes it just means he's forced back into human form and can't transform again for a while. Other times the light going out is equal to death or near-death, and some kind of special circumstances will be needed to bring him back. As for which rule Tiga follows... I suppose that's for you to find out.

A lot of series do tend to treat the colour timer as more of a soft thing, as you will occasionally get dramatic battles where they stay on red for quite a while... But yeah, generally it's just some variation of "bad". You will also occasionally get a power-up or healing power resetting the colour time after it's already gone red.

The technology level does tend to vary a bit in Ultraman, most series depict it as relatively modern for most people, but the defence teams tend to have more advanced technology. But yeah, kind of all over the place; I was quite surprised when Ultraman Trigger opened with a human Mars colony already existing as the status quo.
