Power Rangers as a whole

Found this short documentary on the making of the first movie. Features new interviews with most of the cast, the director and a few stunt actors.

I like Ryusoulger but man it and Dino Charge have way too much in common in terms of plot: Courageous Red, strong/smart Blue, speedy Green, passionate Blue, a second in command Black with trust issues, and a Gold sixth Ranger from a different lifestyle. Plus the villains being from space an contributing with extinction.

Lynn can be creative for better or worse, but he's gonna have his work cut out making Ryusoulger be distinct.

Plus, Hasbro should try to use Zyouhger (familiarity and has room for expansion and creative) and To Qger (unique+) as a testing ground, then try Kyuranger once they're comfortable. Then go to Ryusoulger or Lupin.

Yeah, I think before Ryusoulger was announced a leaker said something like 'basically just Kyoryuger again'. I think the best approach would be leaning into the knight part of the theme. Not entirely sure what form that would take, but we've done basic dino stuff so many times and very recently so we need something.

On the other hand, Lost Galaxy directly followed In Space. And on the sentai side, there was only Go Go 5 and Timeranger in between Gingaman and Gaoranger. So there is precedence.

Still makes me wish for a dragon-themed Ranger/Sentai show though.

Also, I'm not sure how much the dinosaur motif was that important to MMPR.

I have a strange feeling Ryusoulger was supposed to be dragons but because Lu Pat underperformed in sales, they resorted to Dinosaurs because it sold before.

I'm just glad the franchise went to Hasbro instead of Saban because if Lupinranger vs Patranger got adapted, it would basically be High School Hall Monitors versus Thieves Stealing people's homework.

I'm not joking, Saban's Ninja Steel's executive mandates hurt the franchise that badly.

What were those mandate exactly?

More "humor", making the writing/tone less serious (and the scripts were made less interesting as a byproduct) and giving comedy robots more focus than the characters the audience is supposed to be following, being too dark (ironic), the questionable morals, Monty's actor being told not to play his character as gay, removing a kiss between a canon couple, and other dumb stuff.

When Beast Morphers was in production, Lynn had to state in a interview he was gonna make Beast Morphers akin to a traditional Power Rangers season in response. Yeah, I can see why.

Hasbro in a nutshell.

Honestly if they did adaptate Ryusoulger, I wonder if they'll make the Rangers Dragon Knights instead, and call the Kishiryu "Dragon Zords"? I mean, they have a Medival Knight-theming, and there's only one Kishiryu that would really contrast with a potential dragon labeling out of, what, eleven?

Well after they ignored the Dragon aspect of Dairanger....it would be hilarious. As for Tiger Lance, they could justify it with the whole Tiger vs. Dragon aspect, like Tai Chi Chasers.

They don't really look like dragons at all (Ptyramigo aside, who is literally a dragon but is also a rarely seen combo form). Tyramigo is a classic T-Rex, and most of the others are wingless quadrupeds. None have wings or the length for an eastern dragon (maybe Mosa Rex but it's a stretch). And also a kangaroo because apparently the sabertooth wasn't weird enough.

The show has a new executive producer

You see this is why I regret not watching the Sentai. I don't even what season they are adapting anymore. Like what is Ryusoulger about?

Pachygaroo and Chibigaroo are not Kangaroo mechs in spite of the name. They're Pachycephalosaurus mechs that go harder on the Boxing Kangaroo theme than Bakuryuu Bachycelonagurus/Cephalazord did.

EDIT: And also, in spite of the eras being completely off, sabertooth tigers are commonly associated with dinosaurs in media. Honestly I'd say it'd be arguably weirder if they went with a panthera other than the sabertooth.

In terms of what would be carried over to the PR, they're dinosaur knights who fight chess people (and one mushroom), with assorted mythical beast-themed MOTW. In Ryusoul they're also members of a secret tribe who are a couple hundred years old, they all live with their one normal human friend (a wannabe Youtuber) and the sixth ranger is a member of the underwater splinter group of the tribe, whose defining purpose is looking for a wife. But of course they could scrap all that. Also the enemy generals mostly hate each other and the MOTW are made from the negative emotions of humans... and occasionally inanimate objects.

If I was the one given the order to adapt Ryusoulger, I'd probably push the knight angle really hard, just because that's never been done before, while dinosaurs (technically prehistoric animals, because I saw a smilodon zord) has been done a bunch.

Actually, weren't the rangers back in Zyuranger knights of some sort tasked with protecting dinosaurs or something?

Wonder if they'd keep the way the Minosaurs work.

To wit, like the Bugsters with stress and Phantoms with despair, the Minosaurs feed on certain emotions to grow, and when they are complete, the victim dies and as it advances, the victim falls ill (or is just too weak to do much, anyway). If the victim dies before the Minosaur is complete, the Minosaur dies. Ui, the Ryusoulgers' muggle friend nearly jumps out of a cliff to stop hers. And the Black and Green Brothers initially considered just chopping the victims to defeat them.

Wonder if Hasbro would keep that part of it.

That would be something new, any time Power Rangers has dealt with depression, its mostly come from the Sentai like Emily and Shinkenger, I'd love for them to make their own stories with the Minusaurs.

I'm thinking maybe To Qger should be the next season because if its the 28th-29th, Zyouhger could be the 30th and use the Gokaiger team ups plus Red Whale debut, then 31st. Then either Ryusoulger or Kyuranger for the next one before doing Lupinranger vs Patranger.

Any hopes or expectations for Beast Morphers season 2?

I need to catch up, but I hope the crossover/team up will be good.

Not sure if/Don't think it'll actually happen, but I'd love to see them incorporate Green Hippopotamus in a meaningful way.

Do you think there's any chance the new series will be set in the same continuity/dimension as the one that Dino Charge was set in, thus allowing dinosaurs to exist in modern times?

Probably not, but that could be an interesting twist. Maybe have the Rangers be Anthropomorphic Dinosaurs that can shift into Human Forms, similar to the Zyumans in Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger.
