Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules (in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

It is true of the other media subforums too, but the New Media one is mostly because a lot of new media content these days is political itself in a pretty direct way.
If you don't mind me talking about a specific thread... So, in the WMG thread on Forum Games, the goal is to write a (usually joking) theory about the above poster.
When I first started posting there, I noticed that people often wrote their theories based on the previous post instead of coming up with something original. I didn't like that, because I thought the theories should be geared more towards the posters themselves. So, I found a way around it.
Whenever I post there, I try to write theories that are not only relevant to the above poster, but interesting to me. That way, if the next poster bases their theory on mine, it will still be something that I like.
...Although lately, it seems like people are writing theories based on the previous ones less often, although maybe I just haven't been paying much attention to the posts. :P
"Humans and robots living together in harmony and equality. That was my ultimate wish."For some reason, when writing entries for works with a Cut And Paste Translation (typically an anime of some kind), editors seem physically unable to not snark at said translation, regardless of whether or not it's relevant to the rest of the entry.
It Just Awes Me is weird. There are 29 pages of threads, but the ones near the bottom of the first page are from 2015.
Bump.
So, I've noticed on the music forum that a lot of people seem to really like obscure/experimental music. Any that's mainstream seems to not get much respect.

That's 90% of the internet. People like to think disliking mainstream music makes them "intelligent".
To me, that sort of thinking is just stupid. It's no better than not liking anything that's not on the radio.
It's pretty much the same, actually, since such music never gets radioplay.
All I'm just saying is it's wrong to act like music that isn't played on the radio is better just because it isn't on the radio.
I don't disagree.
Looking at the wiki page, I remember how for years Captain Planet used to be mentioned for the sole purpose of being mocked. Post-2016, the villains stopped being laughable caricatures when they started filling up the Trump administration.
Yes I get it America is being run by greedy corporate fatcats and is the laughingstock of the UN and there's absolutely nothing any of us can do about it please stop reminding me
That is an unfair and gross exaggeration of what I said. And considering my work with the local Democratic party to stop what you claim nobody is able to stop, I am personally insulted.
I understand that you and many of us, including myself, are frustrated with the state of political affairs. But I must ask that you not take a simple wiki observation, which is the purpose of this thread, as a personal slight.
Regardless, it's a petty political jab that has no reason to exist in one of the forum's most laid-back boards.
Do we have a forum equivalent for the Rule Of Cautious Editing Judgment? I think we're overdue for one. (Obviously it wouldn't apply to the explicitly political threads/boards.)
Oh for crying out loud, they made a valid observation and you overeact about it because it's related to politics?
Give me a break.
New theme music also a boxIn the interest of preventing a derail, you may take your proposal here, Midna.
Unless anyone has anything topical to say, we should drop the matter.
Alright, I'll butt out. Politics just sucks anyway, no matter what side you're on.
The only observation is that I have that sometimes it feels like you have pothole to Humor Mode just to make it clear you were joking, when it really should quite obvious that said post was intended a joke.
New theme music also a boxSome of the users here can be pretty dense.
That is a bit uncalled for given the medium is text based and notably lacks things like obvious vocal tone and important body language cues.
Who watches the watchmen? You know what it doesn't lack? Context. Which is surprisingly easy to figure out given one takes the two seconds necessary to think about it.
Knock it off, now. This is both off-topic and getting personal. Further behavior in this vein will be thumped.
I can't help but notice that certain entries in some parts of the wiki can be a bit passive-aggressive at times.
And I don't know if it's just me, but I get the impression that this wiki has a tendency to act like all characters that are dimwitted are somehow inherently evil, or speak of stupidity and villainy like they're interchangeable.
For both points, how so?
Anyways, the people here are very calm and welcoming. Thank you.
I can agree. Hence why I rarely comment on there and OTC.
