From what I have read The exact words Billy uses in the comic are that Homelander was 'tricked into being a psychopath'. Basically Black Noir did a bunch of evil stuff while dressed as him, and it 'shocked him beyond words' and tricked him into actually becoming an evil bastard.

To talk on RWBY, what are your favorite fight scenes?

I kinda think that Nicholas Schnee should have been a robber baron because again, pretty much every mega corporation is built on some level of abuse and cruelty (Rockefeller and Carneige didn't get rich by being nice); making Jacques the one who corrupted it makes it the fault of an individual rather than acknowledging systemic problems. If not that, then very deeply flawed (maybe he was nice to HUMAN workers but treated Faunus like crap).

One other thing that a lot of people don't really like to acknowledge is that even nice or otherwise good people can be rather prejudiced. In one telenovela (La Esclava Blanca) one of the characters is Isabelita, the daughter of the series big bad. She's a nice person, and is courteous with the slaves, but still has some degree of prejudice (she's deeply offended when her playmate Rosita decides that she would like to seek freedom under the laws that have just taken effect because she has a hard time acknowledging that maybe black people don't WANT to be slaves). It takes a long time (and her illusions being brutally crushed by a series of events) for her to grow out of those views and acknowledge that yes Blacks ARE equal to white people.

Personally I am fine with Jacques being the one to turn the company into what it is. It is emphasized that a lot of the other Atlas elite are rich pigs as well, Jacques primarily just stands out among them for the scope and brutality of the awfulness he is responsible for.

Would anyone consider RWBY to be a low fantasy world or a high fantasy one?

RWBY doesn’t fit low fantasy at all.

I can see Ozma and Salem's era to be more high fantasy, but present-day Remnant (and the show as a whole) is closer to science fantasy. So basically what Agent said.

Basically all we've ever seen of pre-War Remnant has felt high fantasy. Although I do still think Humanity 1.0 went to space in some sort of "presteampunk" (millpunk?) vessel, based on the retroactively Suspiciously Specific Denial implicit in Ozpin's WoR statement that "modern man has yet to... achieve spaceflight." Then again, Magic: The Gathering goes to space sometimes, and that still feels high fantasy.

Lord YAM: Sure but not all megacorp start like one which I think is the point Nicholass did a start up but it was jaquess who move into what it is.

Now my biggest issue with Adam is probably the most obvious: the brand, like is intersting how much the writter try to avoid that particular issue of him, he have a mask and remain mask for 99% of screentime he was in and when they FINALLY reveal it, just get reduce to a couple of blame lines against blake.

Like it surprusing how much they doged to engage with the fact that Adam, piece of shit or not was brand like gooddamn cattle by the schnee company, the company Weiss make a fuss over to inherit. He suffer the worst faunus discrmination and yet the narrative kinda walks over because it need to be a hate sink.

By the time they actually get to the racist Kingdom where a lot of strife with the Faunus came from, no, suddenly it's more of a class issue and not a race issue outside of a few people from the low class that we're meant to be sympathetic towards. One of which Weiss tosses into a trash can after we spent a whole six Volumes lecturing the audience how beating up racists is a bad thing.

Psyga I’m gonna be honest for a moment… why are you still on this thread? It honestly feels like you have nothing but pure contempt for the show and you show it by posting every once in a while with the most cynical possible interpretation of the show and it’s messages, and half the time it contradicts what the show actually says and does. Like, I genuinely don’t know where you get “Weiss attacks a drunk racist asshole who is coming towards them” as contradicting the shows message of “don’t slaughter thousands of innocent people”. Like, you clearly don’t get any enjoyment out of the show, so why do you stick around to discuss it? I’m not even trying to be rude or start a fight, I’m genuinely asking at this point because it’s making it very hard to want to participate here myself

I do still wonder about that damn brand, though. We see him unmasked for the first time... and it's an SDC brand! On his eye! And then he dies. And then we spend two volumes at SDC ground zero... and no one ever mentions it, or anything similar - as before, the exploitation of Faunus is subtle, almost deniable, and then Jacques dies and most of the company assets explode. Huh?

Again making Jacques the reason the SDC is bad make it the fault of an individual rather than systemic problems.

It also feels like a way to avoid putting Weiss in an uncomfortable position of realizing her family legacy was built on blood and cruelty (the same reason why her just overcoming her racism was bad writing; the creators didn’t want to have her go through the more detailed realization and growth because that would have just been painful for her.)

Having it be “oh it was great until that asshole who married into the family corrupted it” feels more like a way for Weiss to not have to come to terms with the fact that her family’s wealth was built on misery.

A rewrite I’ve read has Jacques (who is also the founders son) start out as dirty but try to be better. In addition another plot point is that they learn that the board chairman and other execs not only spearheaded illegal slave mines but had the workers (numbering in the thousands) liquidated (Adam being the sole survivor was his start of darkness.)

Weiss learns that the guy who gave the order was someone she considered an uncle and that executives she had considered family friends (who got killed by the White Fang) were complicit in the mass murder.

So in essence she finds out that people she admired and even mourned were utter monsters who got what they deserved, and that someone she considered a family friend was evil.

Weiss needed more painful realizations like that if the storyline was to have meaning

I feel like the brand was just yet another display of the SDC letting awful stuff. Like, this specifically is not happening regularly as a thing. But its a sign of the human(Or IG Faunus?) rights abuses the SDC does get too regularly.

It was apparently just a random act of cruelty that the culture that marginalized Faunus made more acceptable by everyone who wasn't a Faunus.

The creators' explanation — which they did not insist was canon ftr — was that it was a workplace disupte. Adam got in an argument with a superior and said superior grabbed a branding iron.

Was there a reason they’d have a branding iron in the first place?

Do you think all characters should get a new outfit for the final volume and why?

we don't even know which volume the final will be and they've already changed outfits multiple times

all i care about is ditching the current outfits/hairstyles ASAP

Well, given how RWBY usually gives the heroes new outfits for each arc, you might very well get your wish, Saiga. Though the only Team RWBY hairstyles I could see changing are Ruby and Weiss. Yang's hair has been pretty consistent, and I don't see her changing it anytime soon. Blake doesn’t really have many options after she got her haircut outside of maybe a short ponytail or small bun.

With JNPR, the only hairstyle I could really see changing is Ren. Jaune just got a new white streak of hair, so he's already covered. I can't think of anything new for Nora unless they want to make her hair really messed up, and Oscar I just have no idea what they could do.

Now as for Qrow, I imagine his hair could get pretty messy and unkempt, with the addition of a Beard of Sorrow. I just think he'd be a mess after everything that happened in Atlas, and his design should reflect that.

Yeah, I fully expect that volume 10 will be an outfit change as they've been pretty consistent about that.

I'm only really hoping for Weiss' hair to change, tbh. Jaune doesn't seem like he'll change any more than the white streak, which is sad because I think that both the hairstyle is really bad and that the streak isn't really retaining enough from the Ever After.

I'd also like Blake to change because the short hair looks quite bad in the show, IMO (looks fine in artwork) but I don't expect it either.
