Which one are you thinking of for Pyrrha? There are a couple of songs the fandom regards as 'Pyrrha's song'.

'I'm the One' and 'Lionised' are troped under the objective trope Villain Song because they have lyrics that are directly connected to something that happens in-universe at the time the song is played. In the former's case, some of the lyrics are actual dialogue in the show. In the case of 'Lionised' there is a connection between what the singer wants and what happens during the ambush that ends with the Faunus glorifying him as a hero.

That said, of all the songs that can be troped as Villain Songs (and not all of them can be), 'Lionised' is by far the weakest one troped like this because the connection between the lyrics and events in-universe is the most distant: Villain Songs are almost always sung in-universe, and none of the songs this show lists as Villain Songs are. However, most of the Villain Songs so listed have lyrics that are directly connected to dialogue from the show. 'Lionised' is the only one that has a more indirect connection to dialogue within the show (which is why it's only troped for the ambush scene and not the entire character short).

That said, even for songs that can be troped on the same level of canonicity as the show itself, the lyrics are still open to different interpretation by different people. That means that, even with the canon songs, a some of the lyric meaning will have to be troped as YMMV even if some of it can be troped as canon.

That's sort of the point and power of having soundtrack songs — people have the ability to interpret it in a way that's meaningful for their perspective of the show. It's the main reason why Jeff Williams doesn't want the fandom to regard the songs as 'canon'. He wants people to be free to interpret the songs however they want and not be locked into a single vision of the show. He's even described some of the songs as being his perspective of the show rather than what the show actually is.

So I'll note that three people (including myself) have mentioned Christina Vee will be voicing someone in Volume 7 and it keeps getting drowned out. Are we not going to talk about this brand new news about RWBY?

Guys, Christina Vee just announced on twitter that she's going to have a part in Volume 7.

No, seriously though, do we have any idea what her part is? Is she Qrow's new voice? A new Maiden? Rather, more importantly, do we think she's going to last more than five minutes before her character's offed?

It's not much to go on without a character to talk about.

I mean you can speculate but without anything to do on, yeah it would end pretty quickly.

There's really only three options as to who she's voicing.

• 1. The Winter Maiden
• 2. Mrs. (Willow?) Schnee
• 3. An entirely new female character

Technically speaking, she can be all three. We've never seen her in person yet.

She's playing literally Noel Vermillion, she somehow ended up in their universe after the events of Cross Tag.

Not against that, if only because she fits the naming rule.

Given her profile I'd say she'd be an important character. So either the winter maiden or Mama Schnee is my pick. Although I'll also put Summer as a third choice.

If anything, I'd say her profile is an argument against her being an important character, because too much time in the booth would eat into their budget. Of course, Amber and Sienna Khan are important characters in their own way, but I don't see her being the next Maria.

That argument falls apart when you consider that they already have anime V As playing major characters in three of their big shows for entire seasons. Voice Actors aren't out of RT's budget any.ore, haven't been for years.

Yeah, like in 2017, when they had Sienna Khan voiced by a famous VA!

Yuri Loventhal has been a part of the cast since Vol 3. Aaron Dismuke, Chris Sabat and Josh Grelle joined him on Vol 4 as voices for recurring (in the former's case, major) characters.

There really is no point in being snide when it's just something that's been going on for a while now. They had a fucking Elijah Woods as early as Freelancer Saga.

Hm. Fair point. Although I wouldn't consider the Elijah Woods thing, since he joined when Rv B was already a huge success.

They're going off something related to G:L. Except it has nothing to do with the topic at hand or whay was being discussed so it comes off as trying to import drama in my opinion.

No, because the lack of budget for RWBY means we get shit like Battle of Haven.

and that's a decent complaint if we were talking about Animation, Wich were not.

Yeah, but we shouldn't really speak in high hopes about how RWBY will have a big budget when that budget went to Gen:Lock.
