Just a Face and a Caption: Mascot With Attitude

Mascot with Attitude's picture shows little about the trope - just Sonic standing around, a faintly smug look on his face.

It's an alright image, but it would be better if we put a particularly "extreme" mascot there, or maybe a magazine ad for this type of game showing a bunch of slang.

Technically speaking, the image looks like it fits all the description without additional knowledge.

I like the current. Sonic conveys plenty of attitude in his posture and facial expression.

Besides, it's refreshing to have an image that isn't text-heavy for once. Lately, all of the latest suggestions seem to rely a lot on text.

If we do look for a new image, however, I think Sonic is still the best choice.

Seconded. If there's one personal pet peeve of mine, it's having to read an image. Seriously, if I wanted to read about the trope, I'll just read the page. I think a lot of people are too quick to label something JAFAAC when the image still conveys meaning through body language, facial expressions, or context. Fast Eddie talked about this in the sticky, but I'm not sure a lot of people have taken it to heart. Not to mention the frankly bizarre opinion that many seem to have: if there's text in the image, then it's okay, but if there's text below the image, then its JAFAAC and must be pulled!

Anyway, rant over. Keep current.

I agree. No change is needed.

Well, while we have this thread anyway... I would like to get rid of the caption. It doesn't add anything, and to the best of my knowledge there are not, in fact, a thousand Sonic rip-offs and expies. The only one I can think of is Jazz Jackrabbit.

Well, he spawned some within his own series.

But yeah, seems unnecessary.

It feels very sub-optimal to see him on a skateboard, but the trope it show better than the current.

Yeah, it shows the "radical" edge of him more - not only the skateboard, but also the grin and the pose.

I still prefer the current, because it's more subtle, yet still obviously portrays the trope. Plus, it just seems more "mascot-y", if that makes any sense.

This has no effect on the image-without-context, but: wouldn't a skateboard slow him down?

Considering he has the whole "boost" ability now where he gives a hearty "screw you!" to the laws of physics and suddenly gains a shitload of momentum from nowhere, even when on a board of some sort (eg: City Escape in Sonic Generations), probably not.

I like the skateboard Sonic one. There is nothing more totally righteous than skateboarding.

I think the current image is fine. I don't know much more about Sonic than that it's a thing that exists, but the image clearly shows someone who 1. looks like a mascot, and 2. has "attitude".

The 2nd smug Sonic is the best, because the writing looks sort of like the sort of scribbles a 'bad' kid would make on a desk.

I still think the skateboarding one is the best.
