Join Us Saturday, October 12th @ ~8:00PM (US/EDT) Here: http://cytu.be/r/TroperCoven

For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B to Z, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.

For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote  in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE) to repeat in the chat.

We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

Yeah, I thought it was surprisingly decent (even a bit edgy) for a PG-13 movie.

The most surprising bit of fun I had was when I joked to myself during one of the blizzard scenes that the entire movie must take place inside a snowglobe (I must've had Cemetery Man on my mind or something) only to find out at the end that I was sorta half-right.

Anyway, tonight we revisit something fucking stupid from The Asylum that we haven't watched in around two years or so: Santa Claws (not to be confused with another piece of trash called Santa Claws, which could arguably be the worst possible thing we could try watching this time of year).

If I remember correctly, this is a story about Santa Claus having a ton of common allergies to things like cats and peanuts, and when he can't deliver presents, a group of kittens somehow possess the intelligence to understand everything that's going on and save Christmas.

I fucking hate The Asylum...

Alright, so I found an early-90s Sonic the Hedgehog Christmas cartoon, so let's run that for the hell of it.

Then, at the top of the coming hour, we're revisiting The Asylum's Santa Claws and the bizarre story of talking kittens saving Christmas from a hypoallergic Santa.

I've never heard of this movie before, but my two criteria for this boil down to (1) its surprising ensemble cast and (2) it's low ratings across the board from IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic, et. al.

These are the intertwined stories of four family generations at their annual Christmas reunion with Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Ed Helms, Diane Keaton, Amanda Seyfried, Marisa Tomei, Olivia Wilde, Alex Borstein, and the voice of Steve Martin.

Here's Love the Coopers...

I’m gonna be way fucking late tonight. Sudden, last minute emergency.

Tonight, we start off with the Mr. Bean Christmas special.

Then, our main attraction is Love the Coopers. Will we love the Coopers? Because critics sure didn't!

[up]Cynthia Rothrock and Gary Daniels... and neither one of them kicking butt.

Anyway, I'm excited to get around to this one again, even though it barely counts as a "Christmas movie" (Die Hard is more "Christmas-y" than this). I just think it's a fucking cool movie.

Elliot Gould plays a teller who cons a would-be bank robber (played by the Emperor of the First Circle of the Universe himself, Christopher Plummer) who begins an effective campaign of harassment in The Silent Partner.

Keep an eye out for a young John Candy, too.

Okay, we're getting this started with a holiday-themed episode of something called Count Duckula.

Then, at the top of the coming hour, Elliot Gould and Christopher Plummer engage each other in a battle of wits in The Silent Partner...

Alright, so tonight we got Dean Cain, who we've last spotted portraying an atheist dickhead in God's Not Dead, starring in a movie touting its seal of approval from the Dove Foundation. If that's the most this movie has going for it, then that's a sure sign of what's to come.

Here, Dean Cain plays a small town sheriff who loses the holiday spirit and arrests Santa Claus on Christmas Eve for breaking and entering. Hilarity ensues, I'm sure.

This is Small Town Santa...

Tonight, it's a Small Town Santa!

But before that, a blast from the past in the form of a remastered Frosty the Snowman - the 1969 cartoon. Yeah, I saw it a few times when I was a kid. Christmas tradition and all that.

So tonight we strap in for the ultra weird, unintentionally creepy Mexican holiday movie Santa Claus, which we more affectionately remember as Santa Claus vs. The Devil.

Massive props are due to whatever mad genius re-edited this movie to make a more appropriate, intentionally horrifying movie trailer...

Okay, we got another cartoon holiday special, starring the comic strip character who comes last alphabetically but first in all our hearts: Ziggy.

Then, at the top of the coming hour, we book an evening with the most unintentionally creepy Santa Claus ever committed to film in the absolutely surreal Mexican film Santa Claus vs. The Devil...

Alright, we're getting down to the nitty-gritty tonight.

It's the holiday sequel nobody asked for: A Christmas Story 2, starring Daniel Stern as "The Old Man."

It's amazing how much this movie sucked, too! I never liked the original (yes, seriously), but I can see how this would feel like shitting on someone's childhood.

So, first we're starting off with another Christmas special, as we've been doing a lot of these recent days, and then it's time to watch your childhood get mutilated in the form of A Christmas Story 2.

Have fun with this one! https://cytu.be/r/TroperCoven

Now we're in for it...

Tonight, we roll out a Pureflix original about a high school student (played by somebody who is clearly way too old to be in high school) who is so upset that her parents drag her to church on Christmas Eve that she wishes her family wasn't Christian. Lo and behold, she gets her wish.

Basically, it's David A.R. White's early "Jesus, Man" movie with a holiday theme mixed in... and starring Joey Lawrence.

Brace yourselves for Wish for Christmas...

Alright, I'm starting us off with the glorious Christmas-themed Super Mario Bros. Super Show episode "Koopa Klaus," in which King Koopa hates the holiday so much, he campaigns to smash all the toys he can and... freeze the North Pole. "Bah, Humkoop!"

Then, at the top of the coming hour, we strive to survive some terrible Christian movie magic in Wish for Christmas.

I wonder if one of these movies will feature a Friedrich Nietzsche sort of character who thinks organized religion is stunting humanity's inborn desire to improve itself and that due to the advent of modern science, there is no need for the divine to factor in people's views of cosmology anymore... but this creates a vacuum and so we must pull ourselves out of our shock and despair and create a world that fosters excellence rather than mediocrity and-

Wait... that would require them to actually like, do research or like, actually consider contrary philosophical worldviews. Never mind.

Alright, it's our favorite Killer Santa movie!

It's the film that reveals Santa to be a demon who has been forced to spread yuletide cheer every Christmas season for a millennia after losing a wager with an angel. Only now... all bets are off.

Bill Goldberg stars in Santa's Slay...

Okay, I'm starting early because first up I'm running Rapsittie Street Kids: Believe in Santa, which runs 42 minutes long. It's shit, anyway, so don't worry if you're showing up late.

Then, at the top of the coming hour, it's the night Santa went crazy with Bill Goldberg in Santa's Slay...
