Frequent GG animator Brandon Turner is pretty distraught by this situation. I wonder how many other regular animators are going to distance themselves from GG due to this?

What were those, if you don’t mind me asking?

The only comment that comes to mind for me is the Chipettes porn bit where he jokes that them being 12 makes them even hotter, which made me uncomfortable but I brushed that off as Crosses the Line Twice stuff. But so many Youtubers make gross jokes like that about real girls, so IDK.

I've also never been comfortable with Arin and Suzy's connections to Shadman but IDK if that's still a thing.

Animator Andrew Kaiko said on his Facebook he was setting all his Game Grumps animation private for the time being.

Also here's a comment someone left under Kaiko's post, and I've seen variations of it on Twitter, but here is an apparent timeline of what happened:

''The fan first contacted Dan when she was 17 years and 11 months old. Their first conversation at this point was friendly and courteous. This was in 2013.

She sent Dan another message when she turned 18. Again, he was courteous and wished her a happy birthday.

Their next conversation did not happen FOR ANOTHER FOUR YEARS. When she was 22, she messaged him again. On her advances, and because Dan was single at the time, the conversation turned sexual (texts show she was the one who initiated it). This is when the video being shared was sent.

Later that year, the fan met Dan backstage at an NSP concert. They had a one night fling together. It was entirely consensual.

After this meeting, Dan ended up blocking her on all social media, essentially "ghosting" her. This was in 2017, when he was 37 or 38.

Because this is coming from a group dedicated to targeting and trolling Dan and Arin, they are spinning it like Dan is a pedophile or "groomer," when all evidence actually strongly speaks against this. Things did not turn sexual until the girl was 22 years old, and Dan was not the one who initiated it.

From the sounds of it, the girl may have wanted it to turn into a relationship, but rather than speak to her directly, Dan just ghosted her instead. This is the only fault I can find with him (that's a pretty crappy thing to do), but a musician sleeping with an adult fan ISN'T EXACTLY RARE. The fact that they're spinning it as some career-ending act of underage fan grooming is more a hint of the motive of who is making the posts.

More evidence needs to come forth (and we're waiting on Dan to say anything about it), but from all the evidence within their own post, it looks like the source OP is only twisting this to try attack Dan's reputation. This feels manufactured.''

Hmm. I still think it's a bit weird to sexually engage with a fan half your age, but at least it doesn't sound like grooming. Also glad Dan didn't initiate it, though it still seems like he prompted her to send him sexual content if the bathtub thing is real.

I am suspect of the intentions of rantgrumps, because a lot of people are using this to promote Jon as the "superior" Not-So-Grump. Even Jon himself made a comment joking about returning to Sonic 06 (which I think is in really bad taste no matter what).

But isn't Jontron controversial himself too? Like didn't he make some racist comments, or say he sided with cops on the whole BLM deal, or whatever it was?

I know Arin said once he was hesitant on letting Jon back on just for the reason he had said controversial things.

Jontron is a pretty firmly established shithead, yes. Said some very racist things about black people being basically predisposed towards crime.

Jon is straight up an confirmed racist piece of shit. If they are immediately trying to trump up Jon as somehow being the better Grump then yeah I think their accusation here is definitely very suspicious.

I know for a fact that some people never really got over Jon leaving and follow him simply because hes a racist asshole. If that subreddit is known for following Jon then this whole thing looks very off.

Also, assuming those new details are true that puts this more in the ballpark of really sleazy and still wrong but not flat out illegal grooming kind of wrong. What Dan did there was wrong as a escapade like that still doesn't look good on him considering the age difference, the inherent imbalance with a fan/creator relationship, and the ghosting but their is a big difference between grooming and what was described there.

I have really mixed feelings about Dan if that is true. What he did there was still really shitty. If its not then fuck those Jon loving assholes for trying to muddy discourse on this kind of topic

Jon said that segregated neighborhoods were a good thing because people should be with their own kind.

Jon's a special type of his shithead. Hes Persian, his parents were immigrants, and yet he believes in a whole crock of white supremacist bullshit despite not being considered white himself by racists.

I legit don't get how people keep defending Jon with excuses like "He was uneducated, he didn't know what he was saying!" as if he wasn't engaged in a political debate and spouting talking points only really heard among white supremacist circles (i.e. the idea of immigrants ruining the gene pool). It's not easy to accidentally say those things, it's not as if he accidentally repeated a slur without knowing its connotations.

Meeting when she was 17 then meeting again at 18 then never meeting again for 5 years then hooking up at 22 certainly doesn't sound THAT bad.

Ghosting her when she wanted more, that's kinda scummy but not like extremely so. Sounds like standard rock band antics tbh.

As someone who has so far only went with "well we basically know he ghosted her after having sex" as confirmed, I don't think it helps much that "Oh he is just regular type of scummy" since that is still sleazy to sleep with fans and then cut them off

I'll be upset either which way with him.

I've been watching the Game Grumps less and less regularly as time has gone on, but this still really stings.

Especially since I always believed that Dan was the more "earnest" of the two over Arin, but I guess he wasn't really earnest about the things that mattered.

Regarding the allegations, they point out that he was in active communication with the girl for a while before he slept with her then ghosted her. It wasn't just ephebophilia, it was a years-long ongoing effort to manipulate her up until the point he used for sexual favors, which is indicative of someone on a power trip. If we see firm proof of that, then that does go beyond typical rock band antics. And it's far from the first time he's been accused of it, merely the first to have Squicky video proof.

Like other people in this thread said, it's not there haven't been vague allegations dogging him for years from multiple sources, and while they weren't outright illegal or beyond the usual groupie level of scumbaggery, they still left me with a bad taste.

That's the thing with #Me Too!-type accusations. Usually if such things are coming from multiple sources then it's increasingly likely that at least some of them are legitimate and that there is a pattern of sexually exploitative behavior worth being wary of.

Targeting a seventeen year old for a sexual grooming campaign is still <retching noise>.

He started when she was 17, with the implicit intent of turning things sexual since that point, based on his later texting history with her.

I thought that the sexual stuff like texts didn't start till she was 22. They just first got in contact when she was 17. Nothing that I've seems to indicate he was grooming her since she was 17. Don't get me wrong its still really shitty. But I dont think its grooming

He had been in persistent communication with her including sexual messages for a while beforehand. That's not pedophilia, but it is grooming, or if you consider that word too charged, then definitely premeditated long-term emotional manipulation. And she is not the only person with such accusations.

Together this indicates that Dan doing all of this knowingly and willfully, as opposed to an ordinary level of pigheadedness.

Yup, I am dropping him then....

It for sure points to age not being a factor. Just a rocker using his fame to get groupies in bed... like the vast majority of rockers who tour.

Scummy power trip yeah, but not uncommon.

What it implies is that he's a predator who hasn't just gone after one fan this way.
