Oh and to note, the Leverage series finale is pretty much how they imagined things ending anyway. More they weren't sure if they were getting renewed or not for Season 6, so they figured might as well make the Season 5 finale the ending they had imagined from beginning.
If they did get renewed, they had plans on how they could pick up from there. Plus always possibility of other Leverage things in the future. Personally, I'd like to see a film.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.Watched ep 13 & 14.
13 - Good to see that those two FBI agents are doing really well thanks to the Team. I love that guy for some reason.
14 - Unsurprisingly, this has been the most delightful episode yet. Eliot in Santa outfit, Hardison trying to apply Christmas theme/spirit at every opportunity, and Parker in elf-suit...it was just great.
Now...onto the finale.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. There is a reason why the Rashomon episode got my vote for the best of the whole series. Not only it is hilarious, it also displays the strength of every team member.
There was one thing which surprised me in the finale...who was sitting on the chair in the very end. I wholeheartedly approve, but I didn't expect them to go there.

Something I noticed is that the series had one specific Aborted Arc: The people from that Skull and Bones Expy organization/fraternity/society. In the end of that episode, their chief says Nate that they'll meet again, and maybe in not-so-friendly circumstances. That never came to pass.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Could see reasoning there as one, though it could have just been him ultimately just posturing and he never made good on it.
One could make a Leverage fanfic out of it. I personally would place it post-series finale. Hmm... I MIGHT do that myself, actually. I usually don't write fanfic, but eh, Leverage may be one of my few exceptions. Plus I know the con/heist genre extremely well.

Improving as an author, one video at a time.I always thought someone (I thought of doing myself, but I never find time) should write a fanfic about the "obscured jobs". Like, in "The Broken Wing Job", we only see glimpses of what seems to be an awesome job on Japan (such as Elliot about to engage in a swordfight with a Samurai), and in "The Cross My Heart Job", where we briefly see Elliot complaining about recently duking out with four former-brazilian marines, something involving a sunken ship, Hardison losing his equipment, and some Con involving the "Jewel of the Caribbean".
That's just pure Fanfic Fuel right there.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I considered that myself as well, but some of details & trying to force all of it to fit in is way too hard. It just conflicts too much with my con writing methods.

Improving as an author, one video at a time.Finished season 3.
Did five of them just change a regime? Even though it was a small country, that's really impressive. So they stole a country...what next, stealing the world? I have to say, it's pretty impressive that Sophie managed build herself as first lady and then a martyr.
So Moreau, man with all the rich in the world, went down because of the will of people. POLITICAL COMMENTARY.
Huh, that ended pretty cleanly. I thought there was going to be some kind of last minute reminder of impending doom for the team or something.
All in all, a good season.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Hmm... think we should edit the T Vtrope's Crime Pantheon to include the Leverage Crew. Given a few on there & their accomplishments, the Leverage Crew has both the PAYDAY crew/GTA 5 crew topped when it comes to being masters of the caper crew while they top Hustle's Micheal Stones in confidence tricks. Hell, Mickey devotes an entire episode to running The Wire multiple times. The Leverage Crew do it in one scene then move on.
On a different note, curious to ask your thoughts on Eliot's demons there regarding the "worst thing he's ever done", how he did work for Monreau, and possible conclusions one can draw regarding what he may have done. To note, Word of God on the matter is that Eliot feels that there IS no atonement for him at all at this point & he's made his peace with that. His main concern is stopping others from going down the routes he did.

Improving as an author, one video at a time.I think the best part of the episode is the marketing...when Eliot shows off the cute little puppy. It's hilarious.
Even Monreau smiled at that.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.Hmm...I can't say I'm too surprised. I mean, no ordinary security officer or martial artist can have that level of skill and experience, so he must have been running in some shady area of business. Just like Michael Westen.
Currently I haven't seen much of that character arc just yet so I don't have much to say.
Speaking of fighting, I can't help but noticing how Hardison is getting better and better at physical fights. Must have learned a stuff or two by watching Eliot.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I suspect that Eliot was probably training him a bit during their downtime. They do mention at times learning new things off of one another, after all. Plus cross-training is one of the smartest things to do with a crew to help prepare for the worst.
I'd put what Micheal was doing & Eliot doing in different categories. Micheal was ultimately a spy when it came down to things & all his actions were for the country. Something happened with Eliot that turned him into an outright mercenary & based on all the hints, I (as well as others, though could be wrong) suspect that Eliot killed a child for Monreau. Of course, it goes without saying that Eliot was a Black Ops soldier before he was a mercenary.
Then again, Micheal did kill that entire factory of innocent people as we learned in Season 7 & went rogue for a short while.
Regardless, Season 4 time now, my personal favorite season!

Improving as an author, one video at a time.Point.
Yeah, this is pretty much what I was talking about.
Hmm...I might put watching season 4 on hold for the moment, but let's see.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Had to add this here due to previous mentions of Hustle. I'm jumping around the commentary again, listening to the commentary for The Two Lives Crew. I laughed at their little Take That! at Hustle in the commentary regarding how Hustle pretends like they invented some cons, the Mona Lisa Scam in particular in this Season 2 finale.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.1. Actually I think he would make a great Mr. Fantastic.
2. Totally agree.
Anyway, I love this show! Finished watching the whole thing a few weeks ago. It's fun, light hearted and breezy. Season 4 is my favorite because they got the right balance between drama and the comedy. Though Nate was at his best from Season 1-3. In Season 4, they didn't seem to know what to do with him until the second half of it so he was a lumbering drunk for most of it.
Actually, they did have a clear set of plans for Nate the entire time. More Season 4 was Nate getting effected by same thing they were, asshole fatigue really. It's part of reason why he was getting darker as things go on, more unfocused on the helping people part & just destroying the mark, and so forth.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.after 3 years of my friend Lind telling me to watch this show, I finally acquired a roommate with netflix and an interest, and we've seen 3 seasons in the last month. staring season four today as a "good, you went to classes AND consumed calories today" bribe.
:D
Got a degree in Emotional trauma via fictional characters aka creative writing. hosting S'mores party in Hell for fellow (evil) writersWelcome to us hallowed Leverage Fans :D
"You can reply to this Message!"I'm still in shock that season three's finale didn't have some horrible cliffhanging tragedy...it was /happy/...is it allowed to do that??
Got a degree in Emotional trauma via fictional characters aka creative writing. hosting S'mores party in Hell for fellow (evil) writersThat's part of the point of Leverage. The spirit of it is that the protagonists will win, some way or another!
Improving as an author, one video at a time.no, I know, but the first two season finales ended with truamatic cliffhangers and heartbreak and things had o get fixed in the opening for the next season.
Got a degree in Emotional trauma via fictional characters aka creative writing. hosting S'mores party in Hell for fellow (evil) writersso I finished.
I am not ok. that was—that was great and holy hot cakes, that was a con on us on the viewers, and I...dang.
now to go through the fanfic archives!
Got a degree in Emotional trauma via fictional characters aka creative writing. hosting S'mores party in Hell for fellow (evil) writersYeah, I know, one of the best season finales ever, even though I saw the con coming, before I watched it I felt that the show had picked a good point to end it. After it I wanted to see Leverage International!
Ah, missed that bit. XD
Watched ep 11 & 12.
Ep 11 was just so, so, fun! I particularly love how the feared head of security actually turns out to be an awkward guy with a crush on Sophie, and how everybody remembers Sophie's accent in differently, each more exaggerated and horrible.
"Rashomon"-Style is just great.
