Link people to the first post of this thread. I've got a decent description of where we are in the process there.
Though I think a link to that from the store would not be un-called for.
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!I'm fine with and intrigued by the idea of religious symbols being badges. It'd be somewhat amusing to have a Dhamma wheel follow my posts about.
Though the discussion about pentacles being associated more with fiction and EVIL makes me sad. Poor pentacle...
Though I guess at least it doesn't have the same widespread stigma that the swastika has. That thing has just been ruined unfortunately.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahI have to say I don't think that religious or political badges are a good idea. Too much potential for unnecessary flames, and the purpose of the badges are largely for fun and I'd kinda like to keep it as just fluff.
Reaction Image RepositoryI suppose yes.
Oh well. I can only dream of a Dhamma wheel badge then. For it is the only one I would want (at least that I can think of).
because dhamma wheels are frickin' sweet.

If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahTrue, but can we still have a pentagram?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanBut then the Pagans will just buy them and they'll get their symbol! WHICH IS WRONG FOR I LACK DHAMMA WHEEL.
Trying to think of other things I would think are neat. Sadly lotus comes to mind which...is as problematic as a Dhamma wheel.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan Chah^^I can't see why it gets to be set apart from others. It can attract flames just as much.
It's all or nothing.

Clicking the basket button on each post now takes you to a description of what's going on with the Badge Shop.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyIntriguing...
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahA couple of grammatical things:
For each dollar of real... It's unclear. Maybe "For each 1 USD you donate to the site,..."
Also, no comma before 'yet' in paragraph 2.
Nothing major, but I figure presentation is important for new features.
Also, I wonder how hard it would be to distinguish the badge small Dhamma wheel from ye banal ship steering wheel O-o
I don't know. I tend to look at ship wheels and think of Dhamma wheels...
You could make it orange or yellow though? Since those are more less the colors of Buddhism.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan Chah"It's all or nothing."
Then make it "all."
Anyone who flames people for being religious is an idiot that needs banned anyway. "It might make people do stupid shit" is no reason to prevent people from expressing something that might be very important to them, like everyone else.
Mura: -flips the bird to veterinary science with one hand and Euclidean geometry with the other-I guess a lotus would be a much easier to define symbol though in terms of Buddhism badges though...
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan Chah^^Yes, I support that point of view Problem of religious bashing is not in those expressing it, but in those bashing it.
Indeed. I don't feel it would invite that much open bashing and if it does they'd likely bash me or the ones who bought the things regardless of whether or not they had them. Since the ones who would buy them are probably already very open and vocal about their faith in general. I know I am at the least...
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahIt would also save me having to explain "oh hey, I'm pagan" every other day- you'd just hover your mouse over the pentacle and know. I see these things as a way to express details of myself that I don't want to use my title and sig for. So, for instance. I'd have a pentacle that says I'm pagan, a sword that says I'm a HEMA practitioner, and a d20 that says I'm a tabletop gamer.
Mura: -flips the bird to veterinary science with one hand and Euclidean geometry with the other-I'd rather not give religious people an opening for them to shove their religiosity in my face. My outlook on religion is having one is a private problem best kept to oneself. Same for political affiliations.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyI have a very open and communal view of religion myself. That has to do with my religion itself however. Theravada is very open and communal and supposed to pervade every last bit of your being. Being entirely or mostly private about it seems wrong to me.
But if Eddie says no then no.

If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahI think this is a feature meant for fun, and adding affiliations which may be controversial is a tad too risky.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerI don't see how it's all that different from nationality flags.
Given how sensitive the issue is it is in that it's a sensitive issue. I personally place far more value on my religion than my nationality, but it's less of an issue with nationality.

If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahBadges now work for me!
Go play Kentucky Route Zero. Now.Can't we please have fun with this without turning it into some kind of partisan nightmare?

The instruction page could state that until it's time for the functions to function. I bet I'm not the only one confused by people already having badges 'round the forums.
