I think IJBM survivors might want an IJBM bug badge to show what they went through.

Well I dunno if we want to allow people to have badges that show their political or other affiliations...
Made me think of this while we were at flags.

Something military might be cool for people like Barkey and me. An M4 or something like that.

The Rainbow flag is fine. I consider it more a human rights issue than a political one in the sense that I was going for when I said no to political badges. I wouldn't expect it to cause trouble in the same way that, say, a symbol of a political party might.

I'll make up some sexual orientation ones as well as some religious icons, and look into the other suggestions. I think I'll skip the political ones. Those get tricky. In the meantime, here's a heart container.

If you think having religious (or explicitly irreligious) badges would be a good idea, I want this one. (The "Scarlet A")

Pondering the religious ones still. I'm trying to figure out how to do them in such a way that's not offensive. Working more on the sexuality right now. Having a hard time coming up with a generic military symbol. Might do a pith helmet. Trying not to pick something too American.

[up]x3 I don't see how political ones are any more tricky than those other ones... IMO those badge ideas might make other people judge you too preemtively before reading your posts.

Maybe a pokeball badge?

I've got a new idea:

Profile Badges that direct others to certain other accounts such as You Tube, Deviant Art, Steam, X Box Live and so on. Any ideas?

I don't think we can have a copyrighted symbol.

Updated the OP with everything I can think of (minus my own suggestions). Decided to add a couple more categories under "other."

That is quite a bit, when you consider the size. Certainly makes a good example and might increase the variety of suggestions (more that use words).

Added to OP.

I think a good option might be to offer a more expensive "custom" badge, where the user can send in their own badge, with mod approval, of course.

Also I'm not sure if religion badges are the best idea, but that's just me.

I think that if someone makes bigoted remarks to someone because of their badge they'll get the same warm reception as someone making bigoted remarks to a troper without a badge.

Bigoted remarks will get spanked just as hard post-badges as they would pre-badge.

We need Cthulhu and Flying Spaghetti Monster badges, now that I think about it.

For example, an anti-semite dickwad is just as likely to say something stupid about Hershele's Hebrew script or a Star of David badge.

Now to figure out how to fit that all in...

EDIT: Actually, was not that hard. Just put most of it under "affiliation."

If you're agnostic, why would you want a religious symbol for a badge?
