Would this qualify as NSFW by our standards? If so, zap it.

I don't think so, but I think we'd be better off finding something from an actual work...if that's from a work, then it needs to be potholed appropriately.

It's not NSFW. And I know I have seen that many times before I can't remember which Phenotype Stereotype that is though.... Its the standard Anime American Girl look ><.

Tina from Dead Or Alive or Tina from Ai Yori Aoshi come to mind.

[up] That seems about right. It's all about context and style. While the amount of skin is roughly the same (more cleavage on the pirate lady), the realistic style and seriousness of the drawing make it seem much more seriously NSFW than the cartoony picture of the bikini clad airhead. That may not be at all what the site has in mind, but that's my immediate reaction (plus, there really is a lot showing on the pirate lady).

Would be safe at my work. Actually, it being anime-styled is worse than the risque factor.

The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.

The fact remains that everything that needs to be covered up, is.

[up][up][up][up] How is she "Foreign" Fanservice anyway?

I mean Japanese Animation style with a Phenotype Stereotype decked out in Wearing a Flag on Your Head and bikini, a coke, guns and eating an American style hamburger just screams it.

[up] No one was claiming pirate girl was Foreign Fanservice, only using her as an example of supposed inconsistency in the NSFW policies.

One question: Why is this trope Japanese specific? The hot girl from france/sweden/eastern europe is not that uncommen in western media. If this trope is japanese specific a less broad name is necessary.

[up] From the examples it does not look like this is unique to Japan. Perhaps the description was worded to match the page image? If so it should probably be changed to make it more clear.

[up][up]That got me thinking of the Swedish Bikini Team, which is all about this trope. Didn't find a picture that was safe for work, though...

[up][up][up] The description could use a little cleanup maybe a rename, expansion or make the Japanese version a subtrope...

The picture is still 100% perfect for this trope though.

But the main Japanese connotations for this trope is a stereotype that foreign girls (especially Americans) are unhinged fanservicey prone to Skinship Grope have big breasts yada vs the Japanese conservative Yamato Nadeshiko types.

American view of other places like say Swedish types is quite a bit different.

[up] No no, I totally think the current image is perfect and hilarious.

And yeah, It needs a rewrite or to split into two tropes or something. The description is all about how americans are portrayed in Japan but the tropes include things like the foreign girl in Not Another Teen Movie. I would say that foreigners being fanservicy in western literature has a bunch of other forms not covered here. I want to put it in the repair shop for them to look at, but they're full.

If it is a stereotype for them to be that then yes however just a foreign girl who happens to be Ms. Fanservice isn't it nearly as much of a trope.

Opening it up to different countries view other countries women and men as various subtropes could work well. (Like how Italian men get the fan service in American works and so on.)

Yes repairshop.

I knew this trope needed to be put in the repair shop and I was hoping this would not turn into a repair shop discussion. Anyway, my question has already been answered, so there is no reason for this thread to continue.
