The "image" is an embedded video, which I'm pretty sure is a big no-no. On the other hand, its our own Echo Chamber, so...

If we do have to pull it, I'd recommend something of Cassiel from Misfile.

I think Echo Chamber is exempt from the no videos rule.

I thought Echo Chamber videos were pulled once a new episode shows up and the original trope image (if it has any) would be put back up. That's what has been happening a few month ago.

A seven-minute video instead of an image?! Either that's not okay, or it's really lame that it's okay. That's not what page images are for.

I thought we replaced them with images as well.

Echo Chamber videos are also still on tropes, like Walk and Talk and Romantic False Lead despite the episode were shown already months ago. I think the one in Psycho Girlfriend should once a suggestion picked. But even if that didn't happen, I think embedded videos should stay as trope images.

Echo Chamber are the only videos allowed as page images because they're content from our site.

Alright, so ones on Psycho Ex-Girlfriend and others should stay?

Not only should it stay, but it is more demonstrative of the trope that any single image I can think of could possibly be.

[up] That's the whole reason why the videos were made in the first place. They're more demonstrative, on top of being created by tropers with the epressed purpose of showing that trope.

On second thought, I think should stay, at least the trope is shown clearly if we don't have anything better.

I thought that Echo Chamber vids were moved to their own namespace (with icon on the top bar.) after a week of being up?

[up]I've not seen any examples of that being the case. If that is what is supposed to be happening, no one has done so.

I think some of them were moved and some weren't. At any rate, I think it should stay until someone finds a better pic.

But page images communicate information at a glance, not in seven minutes. Dunno, the video is funny and all, but that's ridiculous.

[up] Exactly. I'm sort of boggled people are saying "Well, of course it's more demonstrative!" Unless you're illiterate, reading the trope itself is what is most illustrative of all. We have so many rules and standards regarding images being immediately understandable, and a video is all but that.

It's cool we have the videos and all, but as a replacement for a page image? Why not just start putting clips for any page—after all, I can guarantee we'll find better, more indicative examples on Youtube for most of our tropes. I hope TV Tropes isn't for self-congratulation at the expense of understanding.

I thought the videos are only up for a while, after which we restore the original image, unless there isn't any.

If there's a picture for an article, a video has no business taking its place in my opinion. Either it's shipped to somewhere else easily accessible from the page, or put the image and the video both.

Basically this. You're supposed to have images to immediately show what a trope is about, and doesn't take long to do so.

This appears to be the old picture that was hidden when the video was put up. Someone deleted the lines for it in November.

I can't say I'm all that impressed.

And so let the hunt begins. Until then, keep the video.

Ugh, I just finished an Archive Binge of Misfile two days ago, but I still can't find the first few strips with Cassiel. She's muttering about how her ex-boyfriend will pay for dumping her...but I can't FIND it.
