A thread to discuss the Trails Series of video games (known in Japan as the Kiseki series). Adaptations of the games are also on-topic.
As of May 2024, there is no specific spoiler policy for this thread, which means the the default forum spoiler policy applies. In summary:
- Spoilers for non-episodic works should remain tagged for a minimum of one month after the work's release.
- Spoilers for episodic works (including any DLC) should remain tagged for one month or until the next instalment releases, whichever is shorter.
There hasn't been much good news in months for people who want more Legend Of Heroes VI in English. Xseed has apparently been translating the second installment for PSP, but no release date yet, and they apparently have not had much sales success. Meanwhile, there have been no official statements about releasing the Windows versions in English.
But thanks to this Andriasang article, I learned that Aeria Games (best known for MMORPGs) plans to release the Trails in the Sky trilogy internationally on smartphones. Some online and social functions will be added to the basic gameplay. No clear indication of what international smartphone platforms just yet.

Double post but with the news that Trails being 70% complete, how do you think Falcom will go forward once it completed? I'm being a little optimistic but I like to think it would go under a Continuity Reboot a'la Scarlet Devil or Steel Ball Run since it can provide the same concepts as Trails but with new characters, settings and ideas (with few samely named characters and Mythology Gags thrown in for good measure). What do you think?
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AThat's what the first two continuities of Legend of Heroes did. The first two games were self-contained in the same universe, and the Gagharv trilogy started at the end, went back for the first, then the second in the chronology wraps up any remaining plot threads.
I want to see 3D remakes of the Sky trilogy before it ends. And really, it absolutely does not feel like it’s even 20% done, the overarching plot has gone nowhere at all.
That would be cool. The Sky trilogy is the only arc in the game I haven't played yet. So a remake on modern hardware would be lovely.
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AWhat are you defining as the overall plot, then? Because I do feel like the state of the world has changed a fair bit, and I assume that each arc brings Ouroboros' plans one step closer to completion.
Oh God! Natural light!Isn't the world down three Sept-Terrions, plus the man-made attempt at replacing Demiourgos? That by itself seems like a pretty big deal, especially since that's all been part of Ouroboros' plan.
Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.IIRC, The Sept-Terrions of Water, Wind and Time are the only ones left to explore. And I'm pretty sure that Kuro is going to tackle Time.
Yeah, that's way beyond 20%.
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AKeeping in mind I haven't played past CS IV.
It makes sense Time will show up in Kuro.
But I left Cold Steel IV thinking Calvard would parallel Erebonia as the other largest country and have Water and Wind.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobI want to revisit the "Idol Aaron anime" idea because I was brainstorming and wanted to rewrite some things.
- Much the OG idea, the anime stars Aaron Wei as he works to become an Idol in Calvard. He grew up in a musical background. Rather than being part of a mafia, the Heiyuue in this universe is an amatuer theatre troupe who adores the opera. Aaron is inspired by the troupe and spends his middle and high school years training himself in singing and dancing. Aaron has the talent, but he is way too cocky in his skills and him trying to be nicer forms the crux of his Character Development.
- Reńe, Rion and Swin are not idols and instead it's a duo between Aaron and Van. Instead Reńe is their manager, Rion is part of the backing band (with him being the keyboard along with Celis, whose the electric guitar lady and Kevin, whose is the drums) and Swin is just a massive fan of the duo (along with Nadia and Quatre, similar to the trio girls from Love Live!). Van initially didn't want to be an idol, but he had no choice, but he does grow to like it.
- As with the original idea, halfway through the series, they will encounter a rival group consisting of Kurt and Cedric (don't ask) but overtime, it turn from bitter rivarly to a Friendly Rivalry with them. The rival groups biggest supporters are the Arnor banker family, music curator Bleublanc and.... Randy Orlando of all people.
- There's also going to some tension between Aaron and Cedric, which flat out becomes romantic. I mentioned this before but I ship Aaron and Cedric, cause I was brainstorming ideas for Kuro III and that idea somehow made sense. I don't know either... Kurt/Cedric still based tho.
- Then in the second season, another idol (this time a solo one though he still has a backing band) crashes into the scene, creating awesome, epic fantasy-style music that sounds like Yasunori Mitsuda made it with ethereal lyrics to go with it. Who is this idol, you might be asking? Well....It's none other than Adol Christin! note

She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AIt's like there's still an audience for older games or untranslated exports or something.

Speaking of digital sales, I really hope that Falcom realizing the mass digital sales outside of Japan won't force them to stop making physical copies of their games (at least the world wide releases via NIS) because I'm the physical copies girl and can't buy digital games.
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AWill CS 3 and 4 costumes carry over to Reverie?
New Gameplay trailer for Reverie. Nothing too new here, even if you aren't already spoiled on Reverie; mostly just showing off gameplay features that have been in the series for several games now.
But we do learn that one of Nadia's crafts is named Threaddy Bear, haha.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!(A question in regards to this ATT.
Are the attacks names in the Trails games said in cutscenes and if so are they in any fancy format (like italics or in quote marks) Or just plain text? Because I can only remember the whole Calling Your Attacks thing exclusively in the in-game battles.
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AIt happens but it’s inconsistent Rean and Arios do it on occasion, Alisa does it once in 3.
Very well then. During those moments are there any fancu formatting or is it just plain text?
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/ABumping my question.
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AUhh ‘’shrug’’ Arios gets it in zero and that’s all I remember.
Stupid forum formatting doesn’t work with a phone.

I see
Well, I guess we can keep it plain text (with first letter capitilzation) for the time being unless something else comes up.
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/ADouble post but for some reason, I really want a "Trails X Sanrio" collab, so here's my hypothetical characters to collab:
- Estelle and Hello Kitty (cause the two are the most iconic within their respective franchises)
- Kevin and Badtz-Maru (cause Kevin's hair looks like Badtz-Maru)
- Lloyd and Pochacco (cause he precious like a puppy)
- Rean and Chococat (same logic as Lloyd but he is a cat)
- C and The Twin Stars (cause two of his fellow workers (Swin and Nadia) are a similar Pink Girl, Blue Boy duo)
- Van and Kuromi (cause both are associated with the dark and are morally dubious (though Kuromi is admittedly more cartonishly evil whereas Van is more of an Anti-Hero))
- Nayuta and Cinnamoroll (cause both are associated with the sky (Cinna is born in the sky and Nayu likes watching the night sky) and Cinna's ears looks like the pigtails of Nayu's companion Noi)
Edit: Also added reason why I chose them.

She/Her | Currently cleaning N/ATriple post, but with the knowledge that Calling Your Attacks is inconsistently used in Trails itself (as in story moments) and mostly used in gameplay, should we really keep it plained texted or use formatting (like quotes marks, italics etc.)?
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/ASo I learned that today (at least where I live) marks the 19th anniversary of Trails In the Sky. So I feel like today is a big day of celebration of not only Sky but the entire Trails series.
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AI seriously hope at least one other game will have a main heroine again. It would be sad to have Estelle be the only shoujo protagonist by the time the series is over. The anime doesn't count.
Random thought time: Ever wanted an Idol boy anime based on Kuro. Well I'm gonna conceptualize it, whether you guys like or not.
