The RP Is Officially Ended

We've gone through a lot in the past...god, it's been practically a decade. Countless stories have been told, countless friendships have been born, and countless Aichis have been brainwashed. The time we've spent telling this story has been an emotional roller coaster that we will all treasure forever.

Unfortunately, time will always tick away. We've gotten older, we've gotten employed, we just don't have as much free time as we used to. We took a long, long time deliberating on this decision, and it was easily the hardest we had to make. There just isn't enough interest left in the GM-ing of plots for us to viably keep things going, anymore. So it's with a heavy heart, but a prideful salute, that we say goodbye to the RP, and begin focusing exclusively on the FG as a who

He sat alone in the darkness, ruminating on what had been, contemplating on what would be.

He who controls the past controls the future.

The preparations were almost complete, and testing would begin shortly. Years of clandestine work, pulling strings and shuffling data around, was about to pay off. He watched them labor down below, in the testing bay. The device was glorious, a fitting machine to represent the strength and might of the Brotherhood. Even if it brought the entire facility down in its activation, the results would be worth it. He had ensured that himself, a hand in every step, every nuance of the construction, every angle of the plan.

Even the fall of the Brotherhood twenty years ago had not set him back, but rather shifted the focus into greater designs. No longer would the world suffer under the hands of an ineffective regime, no longer would man labor against the miracle of Tiberium, but rather embrace it and ascend into a new age. Unstoppable and implacable, united under the banner of the Brotherhood, mankind would be shunted into a brighter future, willing and ready with wide eyes and open arms.

"Sir, the preparations are almost complete." The radio squaked as a technician below signaled him from the construction floor.

"Good."

"Brothers!" He spoke, switching the loudspeaker below on.

"Long have you toiled to see this day. Though we have been forced to live in the shadows, our labors are not without results! I am pleased with your work, and invite you to stand by me as we usher in a new age. In but a few moments, the fruition of our efforts will come to pass, and we will emerge victorious, and crush GDI once and for all!"

The speaker switched off and he keyed in the ignition sequence.

Generators sparked to life as the staff took refuge in the observation rooms. A low rumble shook the room as electricity crackled from the machine, arcs of energy jumping from the device to the walls. Escalating on all fronts, the room started to shake as the device generated enough energy to fully activate. The workers below visibly recoiled from the development even as the concrete structure around them started to disintegrate and fall away.

A brilliant flash of light blinded all, save one, as the roof of the building came down on the machine.

So it went.

He was pleased, anyway. Calmly, he checked a few readouts in the room, and smiled. It had been a wild shot in the dark, but it had worked.

He smiled.

There was much to be done.

It has been twenty years since the Tiberium War. Mankind is divided. The Global Defense Initiate holds an iron grip on the vestiges of humanity it can, protecting and defending humans across the globe from both the corrupting influence of Tiberium, and the remnants of the Brotherhood of Nod, who still plague their efforts even after the apparent death of their charismatic, enigmatic leader Kane.

Tiberium, once the most valued resource available, one that sparked the conflict of the Tiberium War, now ravages the planet. Storms ravage the planet as it twists and corrupts the delicate ecosystem of our earth. Similarly, humans born into the Tiberium Age are often mutated and turned into something more akin to the alien material than their parents, humans better adapted to a Tiberium world, but shunned and outcast from society all the same for their apparent defects.

The Tiberium War, a conflict spanning across three continents, now finds another spark, an ember in a new region detached from the consequences of the first conflict. In the ashes of both an Empire and a Union, a quiet war wages between GDI and The Brotherhood.

The Russian Winter has always been rough, but this year it is colder than ever. The effects of Tiberium have made the climate more extreme than ever. Wind whips ice off the frozen surface of the lake so fast it feels as if it could shred the skin off a man. The cold nips and bites and devours all heat. Isolated from the rest of the world by both weather and geopolitical instability, a shadow war persists despite the freezing cold.

Rumors of Nod activity have forced GDI to establish an outpost in the region, but despite their best efforts, the Brotherhood evade destruction at every turn.

GDI efforts have been stifled by both the weather and an unusual zeal even for the Brotherhood, and rumors that Kane still draws breath persist despite all evidence to the contrary.

Whatever happens, the world will never be the same.

COMMAND AND CONQUER: WINTER INSURRECTION

Mission Diagnostics

• COMMAND AND CONQUER: WINTER INSURRECTION is a dual plot centering around the struggle between the valiant forces of the Global Defense Initiate and the mysterious Brotherhood of Nod, and the effects of the PC's upon their universe.

• Players will be split between GDI and Nod and will compete indirectly against each other to further the efforts of both sides, with variable endings depending on objective-based performance in each mission- all of which will affect the rest of the plot and difficulty of each side!

• Fight on the side of GDI as they attempt to gain control of the region and instill order in one of the most hostile climates on the face of the planet...

• OR assist the Brotherhood as they pursue their secret objectives, crush GDI, and further the goals of the late, great Kane in his quest to ready humanity for a new, Tiberium World!

• Rock out to some of the best 90's video game music as you kick ass, take names, and pursue your objectives!

• As a promise to our players, I will be attempting to keep a consistent timetable of at least one post a day (two, ideally), with longer sessions on the weekends as possible
