Anyway, Latin America doesnt care about Precure aside from a few exceptions like me. So sadly we arent weaboos this time lol.

15. How long have they been in Skyland for there to have been 10 Ranborg attacks? Sorry Tsubasa's parents, but Mashiro's Skyland lover is someone else. Sora might be a bit green at the non-combat parts of guard duty, but she's doing her best. Battamonda doesn't wait. Second appearance and he's already threatening to bomb the city. I never bought into the theory that Shalala was secretly evil. But now I see her showing up brainwashed later. Batta is scared of angry Sky, and I approve. So the return to the status quo is just Sora deciding Yoyo's house has better security than the castle. She's probably right. These Skyland episodes felt way longer than the two episodes they lasted.

I really hope the Precure get big sakuga fights later on.

We just had two in this two parter, though?

Go Puri had them constantly. And most infuriatingly this week's sakuga fight was mostly for someone who isnt even a Pretty Cure.

So yeah. They need to make up for that. They cant have someone look cooler than a Precure.

To be fair, Go Pri is kind of an outlier in regards to its constant quality

That makes me so sad. But even the loathed Delicious Party had had much better fights for the main cures and at least understood they couldnt make Black Pepper look better than the Cures.

The difference here is that Captain Shalala is a highly experienced warrior. The only other major character that is even close to that level of fighting prowess is Sora/Cure Sky, and she was busy with the Updraft Shining alongside Prism.

Go Pri's Cures fight with flair and elegance, but they're not always efficient about it. Shalala and Sky are efficient with their fights because their training from their normal lives allows them to be. Cures Moonlight, Beauty, and Selene also display this efficiency on a regular basis.

I know but it begs the question why is she so cool that arent just following her outright to begin with? In the final fantasy thread here someone said "Never let NPC's do the cool stuff that's for the main characters to do" and as much as I love that side characters get to do stuff I agree. The only reason I am not hating the season like other people do is because at least I understand this is (hopefully at least) set up for later to give people a taste of what an experienced badass can do so the Pretty Cure's can crush that threshold in an awesome scene. I loved Hugtto until the finale had the villains show off more than the Cures. So if it doesnt do that well...

EDIT:Also I do admit the updraft shining scene was surprisingly amazingly cool. I loved it and the same goes for the Glass breaking scene in the castle. It sounds like a lame thing to be excited about but censors for kids shows frown on such scenes and I eat such scenes up.

Note that Captain Shalala gets *one* awesome fight scene before being sidelined. This is most likely to establish her potential threat level when she returns as a brainwashed general for the Undergu. We still have some 60% of the series left for our main heroes to catch up.

I know that is probably what is going on but I've been begging for cool fights for our heroines and it does irk me. Still, last week WAS indeed a good showing and I have faith that we'll eventually get more cool animated fights.

Is Hirogaru Sky lacking the sheer "Wow!" factor in fights, especially in comparison to Go Pri? Absolutely, but I also think that's missing the point. Rather, the point is that the fights do make inherent sense from the characters and story-beats' perspectives.

The real crux of this argument is Technician Versus Performer with Go Pri being the performer and Hirogaru Sky being the technician. They make their respective takes on animation quality work for the stories they want to tell, and I think they do each side of this approach very, very well.

I wouldnt say that. The animation has been so so, leaning on to slightly bad actually. What happens is that the writing is so strong it makes up for it. While pretty animation will never make up for outright bad writing. But I will stop because I still love the season and there's still time to course correct.

I should make it clear that when I mentioned the "Wow factor", I was referring to Appeal, one of The Twelve Principles of Animation — the flavor of the presentation. Like I said, Go Pri scores very well in this regard (and Tropical Rouge now that I think about it) where Hirogaru Sky is lacking it in comparison. Does that mean Hirogaru Sky's animation is bad? No, I don't think so; the effort and professionalism are clearly there especially if you critique according to said principles.

That's... debatable. But I admit its not OUTRIGHT bad. I saw a person say minor off model shots made the whole thing bad and I disagreed with them. But with One Piece outright having outrageous animation quality for an entire half hour it wouldnt even kill Toei to do a short 2 o 4 minute fight of that quality for Precure. Precure is not a favored production like it used to be. Even without Go Princess in the equation. But again I will just drop this its getting old.

Personally I think Soaring Sky been doing great on fights. Sure there have been a few clunkers but that's every series and the overall hit to miss ratio is pretty good.

It's biggest strength I think is the use of the environment during fights. There's been a lot of parkouring and it gives the fights this season their own unique feel.

That's also true. That has been great.

Man I really gotta thank Demongod for spending half a decade trying to convince more people to watch Precure I've really been enjoying Soaring Sky a lot and would never have gotten into it without him intermittently reminding me that it's a series where the girls aren't afraid to throw hands.

Soaring Sky is a bad starting season because it'll make most other seasons seem so mid.

16. They're really drip-feeding the lore here. Skyland is so pathetic that they can't even keep records of an enemy nation they once warred with. Otherwise a cute cooldown episode with the Cures getting their bearings together after their losses in Skyland. At this point I want Ageha to hurry up and start getting a bit more... involved with things.

If I remember correctly, that banner has been part of Momotarou's iconography since well before that propaganda film.

Speaking of iconography, Battamonda's teardrop tattoo/eyeliner design suggests he's already committed murder at least once.
