Do you mean drafting as in "planning, with thumbnails and sketches and the like"? Because that's generally an essential part of the process.
I think it's important, particularly for complicated drawings with more than one object/person in frame. I need to know where to put everything in relationship to everything else, and if the arrangement of it looks aesthetically pleasing.
I also like doing a very rough sketch of poses, just so I know where to start. Sometimes, of course, i have the problem that the rough sketch captured the pose much better than anything I could achieve afterwards.
Be not afraid...Is this drafting in the sense of planning, or drafting in the sense of drawing technical works rather than purely artistic ones?
"Doctor Who means never having to say you're kidding." - BocajIt's good.
Project progress: The Adroan (102k words), The Pigeon Witch, (40k). Done but in need of reworking: Yume Hime, (50k)It depends on the artist. If you do mean stuff like sketches, then I would say that in the case of someone like Alex Ross, it most definitely is good. His sketches are beautiful.
I love a good sketch in general. There's something beautiful about graphite in the right hands.
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyWhile whether a draft is necessary depends heavily upon what you are trying to achieve, drafting is never really, I think, a bad thing.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.
Is it bad? good? What is your opinion?
I love Art.
