This thread's for all of the X-Men comics and spin-offs (X-Force, X-Factor, New Mutants etc.), whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate X-Men, X-Men 2099, X-Men "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- X-Men 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Wolverine, Deadpool, Ms. Marvel and Cable.
- Characters and comics that originated in X-Men and its related books but are no longer connected to the franchise are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their X-Men related stories here.
Discussions that are only about X-Men adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules - tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).
I have to say that the X Men franchise has been going on for decades. Maybe not as many as the Superman franchise has, but it still has quite a number to it.
One thing I am certain of is that the franchise seems to be subverting Status Quo Is God in recent years. Magneto and Professor Xavier seem to be fading into the background, with Cyclops and Wolverine taking their places. A lot of villains associated to the X-Men have been killed off and have actually stayed dead so far.
All this gives me the general impression that the franchise is trying to reinvent itself. Do you think that's what's going on here?

Rosenberg killed off a bunch of cult fanbase characters. I doubt any of them get revived any time soon.
I mean, it depends on if Hickman wants to use them. If he does, well, they are getting resurrected pretty soon.
Ummm Magik is pretty popular.
Mileena MadnessI completly forgot Comic Con was this week
First wave of new X-Books (including one called Dawn of X) will be announced on Saturday
Actually, I think the first wave of X-books is itself called "Dawn of X." You know, like "ResurrXion"?
So Rosenberg himself knows that he's killing a lot of X-Men:
Part is the journey is the end. - Tony Stark
Mileena MadnessSo it's supposed to be a rising-from-the-ashes story.
I fail to be mollified. The X-Men have enough of those.
Ever since the X-Men became a film series their existence had been defined by endless burnings to ash.
We're in the Endgame now. Havok and Madox are today's winner of the kill game. Final score time...

Mileena MadnessDidn't Rosenberg just bring Madrox back from the dead? And now he's dead again? Or is it one of his dupes? Havok was already on borrowed time due to...uh, whatever his powers were doing to him (causing him to fade away?).
Wasn't this the last issue?

House Powers begin next week.
Mileena MadnessRight, I know, but this was the last issue of Rosenberg's Uncanny X-Men. So...did it have any sort of definitive ending?
It ties in with Age of X-Man. Scott and Jean reunite and get their happy ending with a big kiss right in front of Logan and Emma. Scott then undoes Emma's humanity-wide mindwipe and everyone remembers the X-Men and mutantkind again.

Sigh...
Mileena MadnessHey Scott's the hero.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."But no Reset Button on the killfest? Argh.
Scott and Jean have been away from each other for so long — Jean was dead while Scott was alive and Scott was dead while Jean was alive — that I'm not sure if they would instantly get back together. Hell, doesn't Scott still have feelings for Emma?
At least I can handwave the fact that Magik is still alive — she didn't die, just turned into the Darkchylde and when her mutant powers can back — sigh — she would have reverted to regular Magik. And Cain is still alive, just not Juggernaut. And Banshee was dead anyway, so they can't actually kill him. So they just need to resurrect [checks notes] Blindfold, Strong Guy, Sunspot, Wolfsbane, Chamber, Triange, Havok, and Multiple Man. Oh and Joseph, Vanisher, Dark Beast, and the Nasty Boys.

emma doing what she did while he was dead and in this run killed any feelings he had for her
Did the ONE commander at least get a satisfying comeuppance?
General Generic certainly did.
Mileena MadnessSo he was using Emma to make people hate mutants so much, and Jean undid that, or something?
Looks like there's been a bit of a time skip.
So good news: Banshee is still alive. The mutants have a new safe island home: Krakoa. The school is now "The Graymalkin Habitat" which includes a Cypher run portal to Krakoa that only allows mutants (and those accompanied by mutants). Everyone knows the Professor is alive now, including Jean and Logan.

Yep, definitely seems Morrisonian. Some interesting looking new students as well.
I still say that everyone dies in a final battle against whatever enemy they are up against, but then they are immediately resurrected by X-Man who sacrifices his remaining lifeforce to bring them back because, uh, he was sorry? and now he realizes that families are good?
