This thread's for all of the X-Men comics and spin-offs (X-Force, X-Factor, New Mutants etc.), whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate X-Men, X-Men 2099, X-Men "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- X-Men 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Wolverine, Deadpool, Ms. Marvel and Cable.
- Characters and comics that originated in X-Men and its related books but are no longer connected to the franchise are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their X-Men related stories here.
Discussions that are only about X-Men adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules - tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).
I have to say that the X Men franchise has been going on for decades. Maybe not as many as the Superman franchise has, but it still has quite a number to it.
One thing I am certain of is that the franchise seems to be subverting Status Quo Is God in recent years. Magneto and Professor Xavier seem to be fading into the background, with Cyclops and Wolverine taking their places. A lot of villains associated to the X-Men have been killed off and have actually stayed dead so far.
All this gives me the general impression that the franchise is trying to reinvent itself. Do you think that's what's going on here?

So fraternal twins then.
What does his costume mean?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."It's the Imperial Japanese naval banner from WWII. Considered worse than the Swastika in Asia.
They should have changed his costume to the one from X-Men Legends 2.◊
Yeah, Sunfire's costume really needs a less offensive upgrade. Like maybe his costume should have the kanji for sun, and not that emblem. Although when you think about it, Sunfire was conceived in the 60's where he was depicted as being vengeful against America for defeating Japan during the war.
Make him look like fire dude in MHA.
Mileena Madness
I don't know if that would endear him because Endeavor is still somewhat a Hate Sink.
Well not anymore in the manga.
Give the show a couple years for it to catch up to that though.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Someone might want to add that to his entry there.
Honestly I never liked Sunfireās classic costume because its looks stupid and outdated. Never really consider the whole symbolism of being the Eastern equivalent of dressing like a storm trooper.
Anyway, as far looks goes, I always prefer the costume he wears in Age of Apocalypse as his modern look. It looks pretty cool with the whole fire demon thing, and his Rising Sun mask is a better update to that whole Imperial Japan costume he used to wear.
The X-Men Legends 2 costume is probably the best Sunfire costume.
Agreed. I wonder if the Big Hero 6 show will have an expy of Sunfire join them.
What would happen if you became a Cuckoo sister?
Mileena MadnessSpeaking of that, props to whoever designed the new Stepford Cuckoos X-Uniforms, they are bangin'.
Also, Magneto is Brotherhood stain bleh. -_-
Mileena MadnessSo, how badly do the X-Men need to evolve to be relevant these days?
Wake me up at your own risk.Very, very badly.
Very much so. Morrison had the right idea, but since then, the franchise has been stagnant in the worst ways. It needs to look at what it means to be a minority or LGBT in 2018, and it needs to apply that to the comics. Because right now, they aren't very reflective of that at all.
IMO the best way to do muto-phobia is to make it abundantly clear that the vast majority of mutants aren't Magneto. They're Ugly John, the guy with three heads and no other powers from Morrison's run. So, like you might see an innocent Muslim being beaten up over something ISIS did in real life, in Marvel you'd see Ugly John getting beat up for something Magneto did.
Except as far as I can tell, Magneto's still an X-Man. So that would make it kind of awkward.
The best Marvel can do is remind people Mutants aren't just X-Men or Magneto's extremists.
The problem with that is that the X-Men are primarily superheroes and tell superhero stories.
Then take some of those dozens of X-Men comics and turn them into books about Mutants trying to live normal lives. You can still do stories about the X-Men as superheroes just give some spotlight to Mutants that aren't X-Men.
Then maybe they shouldn't primarily be Superheroes anymore.
Moreover what is there for Mutants to do that can't be already done by having actual queer characters in your stories?
I mean, they were never identical twins. And even before the body-swap, she dyed her hair purple. But yeah, they're twins. They've even got a bit of a psychic bond as a result of that. (It was how Brian knew Betsy was in trouble when Slaymaster took her eyes and almost killed her.)
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.
