Seconded.
[The rest was unintelligible.]- 1 support.
Excellent name. Or Pair the Smart Ones, since they aren't always geniuses.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Pairing up Characters with similar traits is not unusual, do we have a supertrope for this?
Both proposed names are good.
I prefer Pair the Smart Ones, but either proposed name is good.
I didn't write any of that.Smart Couple? I like Pair the Smart Ones though. Crowner?

My troper wallTrope Transplant to Pair the Smart Ones. Suggest Similarities Attract for supertrope.
Fight smart, not fair.Three Day Rule. We shouldn't jump the gun; someone may still speak up on keeping the current title.
I despise hypocrisy, unless of course it is my own.Birds of a Feather sounds right.

What is Three Day Rule?
Link to TRS threads in project mode here. The general rule of thumb that says "wait at least three days to gather opinions before adding a crowner, calling a crowner, or taking another kind of page action."
In other words, don't ask for a crowner until any dissenting opinions have had a chance to be heard.
I despise hypocrisy, unless of course it is my own.Okay. Bluelinked now.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I've made an alt-titles crowner for the transplant. Will send Genius Breeding Act through YKTTW when we have a new trope name (to give us time to rewick).
I despise hypocrisy, unless of course it is my own.Pair the Smart Ones, definitely.
The old Genius Breeding Act is now Pair the Smart Ones. The old Playing With page is now on the cutlist as there is a new one for Pair the Smart Ones. I sent a report to move the archived discussion and there are notes about the change on the Renamed Tropes page and in the renamed tropes thread.
The wicks should be fixed, aside from a few examples of a literal Genius Breeding Act that I left so that we do not have to do any moving once the YKTTW is launched. If you would like me to move those wicks as well I can do that though. Genius Breeding Act is a redirect for Pair the Smart Ones for the time being, but I understand that that is only temporary.
As for examples for the new YKTTW, these are the ones I found while looking through the wicks.
Fan Fiction (Relationships Series)
- Genius Breeding Act: The "Higher Ups" actually were pushing Yuuno to get with Nanoha and trying to keep Fate from being near Nanoha to push this through.
- Futurama presents an example of Professor and Mom (Squick). Also mentioned is a literal Genius Breeding Act from a time when aliens landed on Earth and forced the smartest members to mate continuously.
- Farnsworth was disappointed that the latest alien invasion wasn't going to involve this.
Literature (Lensmen)
- When the series started, eugenics hadn't been discredited by association with the Nazis yet, so aliens "encouraging" Earth's best and brightest to make babies with each other was seen as the proper thing for Sufficiently Advanced Aliens to do.

A brighter future for a darker age.Forced or heavily encouraged pairings of intelligent people has now been trope transplanted to Genius Breeding Act while Pair the Smart Ones is the page for what used to be Genius Breeding Act.

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere. The wicks should be sorted appropriately, but it definitely would not be a bad idea to check my work there if you happen to have some time to do that.

Crown Description:
As written, Genius Breeding Act is a trope about the fact where intelligent characters in an ensemble cast are likely to pair up.
However, we're getting enough examples of literal Genius Breeding Acts, where some agency encourages or mandates that big brains (on a large scale) mate and produce superior children, that the literal meaning constitutes a trope in itself.
I propose, therefore, that we find a new name for the trope as written, and make Genius Breeding Act the trope for literal Genius Breeding Acts.
I despise hypocrisy, unless of course it is my own.
