You know, it occurs to me that Sal is going through a character arc parallel to Joe's. Both have been happy with casual shagging up to now, but in college, both come to realize they want a real relationship, and find more satisfaction in that.

Wait... if Dorothy is asking if you were to strip everything that makes her "her", how is the part Joyce admires about her actually still there? Joyce says "throw everything else of yourself away", but Dorothy wasn't speaking of leaving anything, she said "everything about me", which would include the part Joyce is talking about, so how would that remain for Joyce to still love? Wouldn't "Dorothy" at that point just be Tabula Rasa, and therefore not be the Dorothy that Joyce loved since it would all be gone to the point of her no longer being Dorothy?

It's times like this that my inability to not analyze things ends up making what should be a touching gesture into me dissecting how something is worded and acting as if this is something like the Theseus' Ship Paradox...
