Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

Logan would beg to differ.

Shame Apocalypse & Dark Phoenix slapped the franchise back into mediocrity.
Still pissed that that Mister Sinister stinger never amounted to anything.
Ya know the guy who directed DP also had a heavy hand in The Last Stand? He saw DP as his chance to finally do things the way he always wanted to do. Well I hope he's happy with the results.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I stand corrected.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I've always wondered what's the deal with her hipholes. Seems like she's leaving a vital part of herself wide open. I'm reminded of that exchange between Judge Dredd and Anderson in Dredd regarding helmets and psychic powers:
- Judge Dredd: I'm wondering when you'd remember you left your helmet behind.Anderson: Sir, a helmet can interfere with my psychic abilities.Judge Dredd: Think a bullet might interfere with them more.
Except here, it's hipholes and whatever can anyone could feasibly throw at a hip to hamper the owner of the hip.
That said, if you can find a source on that, I will be more than happy to accept hipholes as canon.
On the subject of Kate, assuming we get some adaptation of Hawkeye vs. Deadpool, I'm hoping we see something like this.◊
Obviously, stabbings of the the heart would be a no-no, so maybe like a leg or something.
It was from West Coast Avengers
And I don’t think having fabric over her hips one way or another significantly impacts her safety. It’s not Kevlar
Edit: BAM. Links.
It is a mystery.◊
Mystery solved.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersIf they do anything from Hawkeye vs Deadpool, then they have to do this bit, which is brilliant.

Pfft
Forever liveblogging the AvengersNot so funny now are you Deadpool
New theme music also a boxHe's sad he missed out on the perfect costume for Halloween.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Oh my god yes, they MUST have that bit.
I heard that Loeb is done with Marvel TV from Variety.
Mileena MadnessBecause they overwhelmingly do try go for some semblance of comic-accurate designs in most of the films. Examples like Falcon and Hawkeye are the exception rather than the rule (and even then those two looks do come from the comics: Ultimate Marvel specifically).
You can't compare that with the Fox films, where they resisted putting people in costumes as much as possible. They basically had to have their arms twisted into actually doing a Deadpool movie with the red tights and mask. I don't blame them for that; btw. In a historical context, they were coming off the monumental failure of Batman and Robin, which started an overall backlash against "campy" superhero movies. So the desire to put everyone in black leather instead of colorful spandex that might get derided as goofy seemed like a logical choice at the time. I don't begrudge that.
I honestly think it's funny that Fox was so hesitant on doing a Deadpool film for so long. Apparently Ryan Reynolds had to beg and plead and twist Fox's arm for over a decade and then release test footage before giving they went and gave him a shoestring budget movie.
And then it turned out to be a smash hit.

You can thank Rothman for the delays
Mileena MadnessHonestly though, I never had any issue with the X-Men movie costumes.

"Scooby Dooby Doo!"Okay, so you guys know what's crazy? Toby Jones, AKA Arnim Zola, was also freakin' Dobby. That honestly blows my mind.
It's been 3000 years…"Captain has given me to Stark. Captain has freed me!"
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.I literally did not know that until now.
That IS mind blowing.

Speaking of costumes, I remember that when Trish Walker was trying on costumes to fight crime, the classic costume appears, but seeing how ridiculous it looks, she decides to discard it.
And to be fair, the costume was quite ugly. (Beyond how sexy he looked while wearing it)

....Man. Doby sure went full death eater didn't he?
One Strip! One Strip! We all figured it was coming when Feige became CCO of all Marvel, even if it was never official.
But it's done.
It was...inevitable.
Jeph Loeb has exited Marvel TV.
It's "Dobby."

I'd actually peg The Dark Knight as the film that kicked off the superhero renaissance. That was the moment when people outside the comic book crowd really sat up and took notice of the genre. The Spider-Man and X-Men films were considered "good superhero movies" and Iron Man was hailed as an "amazing superhero movie", but The Dark Knight was the first time a superhero film was declared to simply be a "good movie".
In its day, The Dark Knight was hailed as being the film that proved that superhero films could be a legitimate art form and not just mindless popcorn drivel to take your kid to. It wouldn't really be until Winter Soldier that the MCU broke through that ceiling, while Fox and Sony's licensed films still haven't to this day.
