Teridax stood up by the support of his Warhammer.

He listened paitiently to the explanation of the two sorcerers who had apparantly summoned them.

He frowned when he saw the sword the blue one was holding.

Shadow....or something similar......I am not going to get along with him.

Lux watched Grey bound off eagerly, and Swain follow him. At least he'd have someone with him who knew what to do, no matter how vile. "Actually, it is traditional to to cover all three lanes. The central lane is usually the least guarded, in a normal five team configuration either of the side lanes are paired off and the middle stands alone. We have a numerical superiority, so either we can try to take advantage of this fact, or we could try to balance it out and keep all lanes even.

A look of disgust passed over Lux's face. "Expect to die, multiple times. You'll just end up back here, but... you feel everything. The problem is now that the field is up the will resurrect to. The only important thing is to..." A much more horrified look passed over Lux's face, "How do we stop it?"

"They are using the other Nexus as a focus for their entry. That means they cant force everything through until this one is destroyed, as it is balancing out. As long as this Nexus behind me stands they cannot enter, but we cannot fully contain the threat until theirs is destroyed. So yes, at least that much remains the same."

Lux visibly sighed in relief. "Okay, so they're strong, and they come back when we kill them, but ultimately they're just a hindrance to our progress. We just need to destroy the Nexus on the other side of the field. The fastest way to get there... I wouldn't know. This field was only in the planning stages while I was still here. I suppose I'll leave it up to you all how to split up."

"If we're going to split up," said Scorpion, "it should be like this: one group goes up the center path, the other group stays here to defend."

Teridax strode forwards, his armour glowing with its own light; he flashed a smile at the ominous figure in blue(A nice smile mind you).

"I will take the left path, anyone care to join me?"

Archer frowned at the info he got, this was not going to be easy. He looked through all the paths and the people already going down them. With a shrug he walked over to join Hellboy. "Hope you don't mind the company big guy." He said.

Lux looked at Rey and Saren. "I think I'll head left, guys. Are you coming with me?"

Kassadin wordlessly drifted over to the right-hand exit, geometric lines tracing along the ground underneath him as he moved, leaving a little wake.

The raven settled down on Swain's pauldron spar once more, turning around to face Grey directly. The strange carrion bird tilted its head slightly to one side as the reploid transformed, its six red eyes peering at him with what seemed a far greater intellect than should have been possible even for such a clever corvid.

Swain himself paused briefly to glance at the alterations this transformation had wrought upon Grey's form, then nodded curtly in what appeared to be satisfaction and continued on his way. From the boy's description, this 'biometal' sounded like some manner of hextech device, and the angular, seemingly mechanical appearance of his armour reinforced that notion; for a moment, the Noxian general pondered just how many different forms the device could retain, how long these transformations might last—if indeed there was a time limit at all—and whether or not its intriguing capabilities could be replicated and mass-produced. A platoon of Noxian soldiers equipped with such devices would be extremely versatile, to say the least; theoretically such warriors would be able to adapt to any situation and take on the strengths of their foes...and for assassins or infiltrators, such a thing could prove even more useful than magical stealth. Why bother concealing oneself with a mystical shroud when one could hide in plain sight, taking on the appearance of a target's loved ones and closest allies?

Alas, such speculations would have to wait for now; they were drawing near to enemy territory, and full alertness was required. As Swain and Grey strode down the central path, crossing a narrow span which hung over a vast chasm separating their base of operations from the battlefield proper, they found themselves venturing deeper and deeper into the heart of the incomplete Magma Chamber. The unlikely pair strode through a short intersection, passing a large blue crystal which lay directly in the center of the path; it glowed faintly with its own inner light and seemed to pulse with potent magical power, but otherwise did not react to their presence. A similar crystal could be seen some thirty metres ahead, its distinctive hue and radiance making it stand out amongst the dimly-glowing veins of magma and patches of phosphorescent lichens which surrounded it.

"These are the turrets," Swain explained, not breaking stride as he continued to limp swiftly down the path. "The blue ones are powered by our Nexus and will attack any hostile entities which approach, but their aim is limited to a single target at a time and they are hardly indestructible; if we are to win this battle, we must keep them from falling for as long as possible."

By the time he had finished his explanation, the two had reached the further of the turrets and Swain came to an abrupt halt. They were at another intersection now, its perimeter ringed by four torches which blazed with an unusually intense orange flame; beyond each of these stood a large stone obelisk, its surfaces covered by curious runes and hieroglyphics written in a language that Grey would not understand. The path which intersected the central lane her was lower than it by almost ten feet, and to the right and left of Grey and Swain lay two sets of broad stairs which would allow them to descend onto this path if necessary. A thick patch of tall grass ran along a small wall just behind and to the left of the pair, swaying faintly in spite of the fact that there was no breeze. Beyond the intersection, they could make out a faint purple gleam in the distant darkness.

"One of our enemies' turrets," Swain said, pointing at it briefly with his left hand for Grey's convenience. "We need to destroy that in order to proceed, as our ultimate goal is the destruction of their Nexus. It exhibits many of the same properties as our own turrets, being functionally identical. It is also extremely powerful; no matter how strong you might happen to be, boy, if that turret targets you you will be dead within two or three shots. As such, let the minions attack it first and draw its attention away; only then can you safely attempt to destroy it."

He paused for a moment, bringing a hand up to his veiled chin as though considering something; then he lifted his cane off the ground and pointed towards the tall grass with it. "Stand over there," the Noxian tactician ordered. "The brush is magically enchanted and will conceal you from our foes' sight. They are familiar with my abilities and spells, having fought against and beside me many times before this day, but you are an unknown variable; they won't know how to deal with you at first. We need to take advantage of that fact to the utmost. I will engage whichever foe opposes us, then fall back as if defeated; when he seeks to press the advantage and come after our turret, you will leap out of the brush to ambush them, and we'll dispatch them in a pincer attack before they can even realize what's going on."

As Teridax strode towards the left path, a loud roar rang out from somewhere in the distance, echoing and reverberating throughout the cave numerous times and making the precise location of its owner difficult to pin down. Though the quality of this cry was greatly degraded both due to the distance involved and the many echoes, Saren and Rey might find that it was familiar in some fashion...

While the man was explaining the dire situation, I wasted no time in morphing back. I was no good to them as a human, and at least here I had a chance to pick and choose. That and Saren's swordblade had me wasting no time to get more mobile. By the time anyone had looked I was just hawkboy again, hopping on the ground.

The situation...didn't sound good. We were their last hope against these things, and we would die. We would die a lot. The very thought of it made me flinch, even if Lux apparently had dealt with it before. How did it feel to die over and over again, feeling everything? It looked like I was going to learn the answer today

But we had to do this. Not just to get out of here, because we were all they had left. I knew how that felt, and I was willing to risk it for that. All in a day's work...right?

<Lux, I think I'll be joining you guys. Wish I could scout ahead, I hate closed spaces...> I told the girl, hopping along. I could flutter onto someones' shoulder, but that tended to hurt real bad with the talons and all.

<...You think I could acquire these guys? I mean, it's just a thought, but...>

Recette sat back, thinking for a few moments. "We get treasure by going into dungeons and fighting mons..."

She heard something behind her, and yelped when she saw Bowser.

"Aaah! It's a monster!"

She immediately took cover under her desk, having no weapons or fighting skills of her own.

Teridax raised an eyebrow at the roar.

"I'll see in a moment if I can make that thing roar louder, but now uh...."

Teridax turned round and saw that No one had joined him.

"This is going to get interesting".

He then saw Lux appraoching.

"Huh...I guess that at least one person has come this way".

Garland looked to where the girl had pointed. He remembered seeing the turtle-like creature in the crystal city. "That? I believe it's with us," he said in an attempt to reassure the girl.

"And if I'm mistaken..." he gripped his blade, making a small scratch mark on the floor.

Subaru went down the middle lane, figuring that she could handle the heavy combat, and if she had heard correctly about that anti-magic they might pull off, she could switch into combat cyborg mode and just smash things.

She hoped.
