I think it was that combined with the incredibly unfortunate timing of Carrie Fisher's passing.
Is this another part of pony friendship? Telling each other what you learned all the time? It's actually a fairly realistic depiction of (What we think) exposure to vacuum is like. The human body can survive out there. Briefly.
Like, there's no heat but there's also nothing to conduct the heat that's there away from the human body.
She was out there for like a minute and needed immediate medical attention after using a tiny modicum of force power, something she displayed as far back as The Empire Strikes Back, to move her body in zero-g. Completely believable and in line with what we had seen on screen before.
And dregs still complained because... Y'now.

Bleye knows Sabers. So does anyone else think the episode after Yoda vs. King Mickey could be Scarlet Witch vs. Zatanna, to capitalize on WandaVision hype?
Didn't they say at one point they planned on pitting the Scarlet Witch against Raven, but changed their minds when the realized how OP Wanda was?
Odd but true: homefield advantage would make things worse for Raven
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI can definitely see Wanda VS Zatanna in the near future, and while it's a huge case of Tempting Fate given how frequently DC characters have a Story-Breaker Power hidden away in an obscure panel from years back, I think Wanda's chaos magic and reality-warping abilities should be enough to take the win, especially since Zatanna, while on par with some of the most-powerful magical figures in the entire DC Universe, is often left completely helpless just by someone putting a gag over her mouth so she can't pronounce her spells. Although she did once work around that by writing one of her spells in blood, which is metal as hell.
Reading that she's not quite on Doctor Fate's level but nonetheless one of the strongest members of the Justice League, and keeping her weakness in mind, I wonder if she would have made a good opponent for Doctor Strange.
I believe Wanda vs Zatanna has long been a part of a fantasy DC vs Marvel / Avengers vs Justice League face off.
It never happened in the actual Marvel Versus DC, and I don't know if it took place in JLA/Avengers however.
But I do remember seeing some old black and white pics of a sequence from what might have been a prototype version of JLA/Avengers where they face off against each other while trying to scry for something.
Can't remember who wins.
Wonder if we'll see Antman vs The Atom?
One Strip! One Strip!Genuinely thought we were talking Wanda from Fairly Oddparents throwing down against Zatanna but it was Agatha all along!

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).That scene was in the finished version too
Let me see if I can find it by googling, oh well no that's not it at all.
Let me see if I can find it if I try to get more speci- god damn people want these two to fuck
Okay I'm going to just have to pull up my entirely legal copy and screencap it
Edit: Here's them doing a scry/counter scry
Wanda looks like shit because chaos magic in the DC universe is bad for your complexion. But way more powerful.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersAnt-Man VS The Atom is one of the only remaining obvious Marvel DC match-ups, but whether it's Hank Pym or Scott Lang, their maximum abilities aren't defined too well and they don't have any particularly impressive - or applicable (being able to punch really hard isn't going to help you kill something atom-sized) - feats to their name in comparison to any of The Atoms. It might eventually happen, but if it does, it'll arguably be a bigger stomp than Venom VS Bane.
I kind of wonder if Ant-Man vs. Captain Olimar would be a good idea.
On the one hand, both are diminutive heroes that can command hundreds of tiny life-forms at a single moment to perform complex tasks.
On the other hand, Olimar has absolutely no combat skill on his own. Plus, Ant-Man could just stomp on him while he's at his regular size.
You never got the rocket glove and slowly cherry tapped an enemy to death to not risk any pikmin?
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAnt-Man (with the stipulation that he's stuck at ant-size) and an army of ants VS Captain Olimar and an army of Pikmin would unironically be one of the greatest fights they've ever done.
What kind of ants though?
There are a lot of ants.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Speaking of DC, surprised they haven’t used Cyborg yet. That’s a fairly popular character, and there’s no shortage of possible, well, cyborg opponents. Also surprised they haven’t used Beast Boy yet, though iirc they once mentioned having him as a potential opponent for Ben. Which I mean thematically makes sense but would have been an absolute stomp.
The only Wanda related thing I remember happening in JLA / Avengers is the bit where she sets foot in the DC Universe and basically explodes because the Chaos Magic equivalent in the DC Universe is even more OP than in the Marvel Universe.
With that in mind, I think a Wanda vs Klarion battle might work.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Cyborg I think could go against Android 17, but that'd be DC vs. DBZ and they haven't touched that stick in almost 6 years.
For Beast Boy...Tony Tony Chopper maybe?
Is this another part of pony friendship? Telling each other what you learned all the time?Olimar plus five of each Pikmin (Red, Blue, Yellow, Purple, White) Ant-Man plus five of each of the following ants (Worker Ant, Carpenter Ant, Flying Ant, Fire Ant... I don't know, Eleph-Ant?)
Heard some people say Cyborg would have been a better opponent for Genos, which I didn't think was true at the time, but given that Cyborg can't turn intangible and invisible at will, Genos would probably have a better chance against him after all.
Beast Boy is a very tough character to find an opponent for because he's simultaneously not one of DC's heavy-hitters, but also has just an insane amount of instant win conditions. My best bet would be that they bring back Beast from X-Men, whose intelligence and experience outclasses Beast Boy, and his strength and durability could probably handle the majority of Beast Boy's strongest forms, but as soon as Beast Boy decides "Eh, screw this, I'm becoming a phoenix!" or "Time to sneak into your body as an amoeba and make your head go kablooey!" then it's game over. In the animated series, he flies into Trigon's ear as a hummingbird and then turns into a blue whale, making the DC equivalent of Satan actually cry in pain, so it's a tactic he is aware of, he just doesn't use it because of the whole Thou Shalt Not Kill thing.
Unless you are specifically nerfing Cyborg to "just the Teen Titans cartoon", Genos really wouldn't have had a better chance against him.
Even if you don't buy that Victor is comparable to the levels of DC Heralds like Shazam or Green Lantern, Cyborg is just...stupid good at hacking, being able to control and absorb technology.
Just because he can't turn intangible doesn't mean he wouldn't just no sell the incinerating blasts while making Genos self-destruct in the meantime.

Is this another part of pony friendship? Telling each other what you learned all the time?Oh yes, Cyborg would most definitely still easily take the win, it was just that at the very least, he would have to tank those incinerating blasts, rather than being able to just... turn on a mode that avoids literally all damage on the physical plane of existence.
Come to think of it, who would win out of Cyborg and War Machine? The longer the fight went on, the more likely Cyborg could hack into and shut down the suit, but I can't imagine StarkTech being particularly easy to crack.
It would be hard but not impossible especially since Rhodey doesn't have a genius intellect to manage the suits systems like Tony can.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Cyborg, not even a debate.
DC scaling to heralds and technopathy means Rhodey's WAY fucking outclassed in strength, speed, durability, technology, weaponry, intelligence, and hax. There's nothing Rhodey has that Cyborg can't either survive with no problem, shut down, or absorb for himself.

Is this another part of pony friendship? Telling each other what you learned all the time?Hence my suggestion of 2B or Alita, both of whom are also skilled hackers & combatants, and the latter of whom possesses a degree of technopathy.
