As long as it's marketed differently than Death Battle, Death Race can be just a fun show. Besides, it was the only way we get characters like Lightning and Thomas.

I gotta admit, Lightning Mc Queen put up one hell of a fight.

Oh wow is this a fun spin-off. That the race can be "to the death" or "whoever crosses the finish line" first, and have stuff like Batman going to the Batpod, or Thomas having "Skyrim mods," or even flying invisible cars... it's like Wacky Races but with Death Battle-style humor.

Who'd win between Sephiroth and Raiden.

And I had an opinion on that but I'm currently too stunned at seeing Optimus Prime murder Thomas the Tank Engine to think about it.

I see... the Halo warthog. That's the only one I know. I'm hoping/expecting a Twisted Metal car at some point. I mean, they have to. One of them sort of looked like Crimson Viper.

That last idea of your would require everyone involved to have a good sense of humor, but it would be amazing.

If the series goes on long enough, I personally want to see a horse race along the way.

A videogame horse race sounds like decent fun. Epona, Matsukaze, Agro, Ruin and their respective riders maybe?

We haven't actually gotten any Mass Effect stuff in DB...

... the idea of trying to compare hyperspace / warp / etc speeds makes my head hurt.

A spaceship race sounds nice. Millenium Falcon, an Arwing, Blue Falcon... I'm sure they could do an asteroid belt race.

My prediction for the Thomas race didn't come true (and I was legit rooting for Lightning Mc Queen there, let's be honest, he was the only one playing fair), but the ending itself was a good kind of dark humour. Heck, the whole episode was good dark humour.

As for the next race, I'm thinking the theme is "Vehicles armed to the teeth with gadgets". So... the Warthog, 007's Aston Martin, KITT, and the Mach 5. That's my prediction.

I do wish we got a Tatsuya versus Jotaro Death Battle...but Tatsuya would absolutely destroy Jotaro.

I'm having a bit of trouble getting invested in Death Race, personally.

It's a race, except there are no rules, they make up the track as they go along, and the finish line happens whenever the plot wants it to. But that's okay because the race is really just there to provide flavor to what is basically a different kind of fight, except there's no research, no rules, memes are allowed, and the winner is chosen completely arbitrarily.

So.

Like.

It's not really a race, it's a fight. But it's not really a fight. So what exactly is it?

So, not to bring too much logic into this, but shouldn't Optimus have been hilariously behind everyone else after he decided to 1) transform and stand in place for a while to shoot the road around Lightning, 2) not transform back, 3) spend time chopping down the Willow, and 4) still not transform back, instead opting to run the rest of the way?

You pick this out of everything to start asking questions?

It's a rebranding of DBX that's an attempt to tweak the series to be a bit more flexible. (This might also be a way to get quick content out in a way that COVID-19 friendly.)

It's sort of interesting on a meta level that the series knows that it's in an Early-Installment Weirdness phase, and is trying to figure out how to embrace that fact.

Yeah, it's odd to think that with how long DB has lasted, we haven't had any episodes featuring a Mass Effect character.

@Shirow Shirow and anyone else interested, what opponents would make for good opponents against the following Mass Effect characters:

Funny that the only known racer for the next race is the Halo Warthog (not sure who's gonna drive it).

We don't know who the other 3 racers are. But I have guesses.

2nd car I've heard is either the car from Spy Hunter or the Mach 5 from Speed Racer (latter seems very unlikely because if it is the Mach 5, Speed Racer's head would be totally exposed and thus make it easily recognizable like how everyone knows who the Halo Warthog is), I also heard Christine (from her solo movie) and the Gadgetmobile from Inspector Gadget get tossed in, my guess is the Incredibile from The Incredibles (seeing as the shape of the mystery car matches its retro future 60s feel).

Especially if the other two cars are James Bond's Aston Martin (whose franchise was an inspiration for the Incredibles) and KITT from Knight Rider.

I love to think that every racer/car that appeared in that one Robot Chicken Super Race are all going to appear in Death Race Eventually.
