Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

CNN is pretty big and journalists are generally gate-kept from internal company admin specifically to reduce their bias.
So they will have contacted CNN legal/PR department the exact same way they would have the one at NBC and will have been given the exact same response as other journalists contacting CNN legal.
Big organisations keep things from different portions of themselves all the time.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranI feel like the difference between Chris Cuomo's situation and the conservative pundits' is that Chris was caught red-handed doing shady shit.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.Tucker Carlson is America's most-watched cable news host.
He's gonna have to do something outright criminal for anybody to drop him.
Certified: 48.0% West Asian, 6.5% South Asian, 15.8% North/West European, 15.7% English, 7.4% Balkan, 6.6% ScandinavianGiven his status, being pro vax or pro Biden would get him canned.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Which makes it weird that apparently he was friends with Biden's son up until it became financially advantageous to bash his dad.
On another topic, Bob Dole has passed away at 98.
Didn't know he was still alive tbh.
I legit know very little about Dole except that he, I think, was a spokesperson for Viagra... and one of the cast members from Whose Line? got bleeped for saying his name in one episode.
With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationI just saw him in The Simpsons as a guy who liked to say his own name.
Wake me up at your own risk.I just know him from repeatedly touting a 15% tax cut back when he ran for President against Clinton in '96.
@Weirdguy 149: That, and people who are not right-wing lunatics tend to care about shady shit. Tucker Carlson could be caught murdering babies on air and his followers would say they deserved it. (Hyperbole. I hope.)
Or that it wasn't him, leftists made him do it, etc etc.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference. The disgusting irony of FOX News touting anti-vaxx bullshit is that FOX News itself required its staff to get vaccinated iirc.
I mean objectively it's a good thing they had the vaccination policy since that means fewer plague rats, but still.
"Do as I say not as I do" is a big part of rightwing ethos.

Disgusted, but not surprisedSomething that probably isn’t unique to reporting about this administration but isn’t that great a practice is how media outlets follow up (or don’t) on stories. One case that caught my attention is this Washington Post article on how the Bureau of Labor Statistics revised their June-September job reports, saying that they’d previously underestimated job gains by 626,000 over those four months (this was the largest change the Bureau's made since 1979 - normal revisions are in the range of ~30,000 a month). They wrote that:
And in the three weeks since the revised report was released, aside from the Post article, I’ve seen very little coverage of this from the same outlets that covered the initial bad job reports with major headlines. It’s generally relegated to a minor note in a story about the October numbers and/or not properly contextualized. Here’s how Axios mentioned it

Where's that "let them fight" video when you need it?
Lets hope the Primary gets dirty enough for both to spend good parts of their war chest.

I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyNunes is quitting Congress this year to go kiss Trump’s ass full time.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Why would he willingly put himself in the crosshairs of DOJ investigations into Trump's organizations?
Why would he run a social media site that's clearly not going to last 3 weeks?
Why do I remember him from somewhere?

No.
I meant its pretty funny that their having to report that from their own company in the third person.
