Oh man, they adapted the dialogue-free Rise chapter. That's pretty cool. The Sakurako and Himawari bit was goofy fun. Chizuru and Kaede was cute fun. I want to see more Kyouko and Sakurako-only bits. If the preview is what I think it is it should be fun to watch. I thought the stinger fell flat, though.

I agree that the Rise segment was golden. Best silent use of the Straw Millionaire setup I've seen. The segment with Kaede and Chizuru comes a close second, and highlights how scarily perceptive Himawari's younger sister really is for her age.

Looks like next episode we're getting more of Kaede, so the question is, can we handle the cute? Well, we did live through this week's Gochiusa, but still...

Sakurako-chan-man is the hero Yuru Yuri deserves, but not the one it needs right now

I liked all of the episode. smile But, I suppose I liked the parts with Sakurako best.

Speaking of lolis, I wonder if we'll get to see Yui's little cousin again.

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

Yeeeeah, I think this episode overcompensated for the lack of Chitose drowning in her nosebleeds. Holy heck.

And finally, we see Mari and Kaede actually interacting with each other... And Mari seems to have gotten a bit taller (she's younger than Kaede, remember this).

Chitose got a proper blood spatter this episode. Chizuru is a Defrosting Ice Queen . This is the season of lolis and I am LOVING it! I really missed Mari and Kaede.

I love it when anime characters stalk people on their first errand or first date or whatever.

Kyouko flashes Sakurako to avoid being tackled. While fully clothed.

Pros of Chizuru and Chitose's bathroom: they have a wooden bath. Cons: they have a squatty potty.

Knowing Chitose, I thought she was gonna keep escalating after "Toshino smooching Ayano-chan" to "Toshino xxx Ayano-chan" but they kept it PG.

She nosebled all over the bed...how cute...

Akarin and Chinatsu were (almost) Sir Not Appearing In This Episode. Gods, their friendship game is so strong this season...

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

Not that we don't have enough, but I guess Mari / Kaede is the official Toy Ship then.

Geez, Mari was super-cute this episode. Kind of cool they put a bunch of snow and cold segments together. Never thought I'd see Kyouko reach a tipping point. The stinger was as good as the one in the previous episode - I kinda thought they'd just repeat the last episode's stinger >_>

Great winter episode. I'm really feeling the seasonal spirit. Just as the amusement club must never disband, This series must never end.

Ayano and Yui interaction episode!

I thought you were already friends!

Oh, Chinatsu. I love her whole thing with being a pro artist/chef/basketball player? when she's not trying, and then sucking and giving everyone the heebie jeebies when she does try (only she doesn't think so). Never change. The world never appreciates genius right away. <3

Make Yui tea —> accept her proposal —> build a house with a big yard. Sounds legit.

She didn't have to explain that she was skipping, all she had to say was that she stubbed her toe.

She must have caught the cold from Kyouko.

That onion will never get peeled if she keeps re-peeling the same section.

Note how they didn't make the same "Oh hey, we're doing it AGAIN this year?" for this season? Yeah, there's definitely movement in San-Hai. I'm kind of half-expecting Rise to actually graduate at the end of this.

Hah, they put all the Yui and Ayano awkwardly interacting with each other segments in one episode. Fun stuff. And this season follows the format of big event suitable for finale followed by more low-key sequence that is the actual finale. I think it caps the season well - it's not goofy or over-the-top, but it does show everyone having fun. Also, Kyouko acting a bit out of character was cool, and the final gag was amusing.

Randomness wants to know what people think of this...

This is decent and other people's reaction to this need to be fleshed out. Because it exist and curiosity is too strong. For a show people like, it's better to not know where it's from.

A crowdfunding campaign for a new OVA has been announced, running from Christmas to February 19, 2019. The manga will also be returning. The OVA will be produced by Lay-duce and will be directed by Takahiro; interestingly enough this is the same studio and director that worked on Release the Spyce, which had character designs by Namori.

EDIT: News link here, OVA's title will be Yuruyuri, pronounced Yuruyuri Ten.

Less than one month till the first Oomuro-ke movie drops (only in Japanese theaters, natch).

While I personally find the manga hit or miss (mainly because every chapter that doesn't have Sakurako in it needs more Sakurako in it), it's been five years since the anniversary special. As long as it isn't as bad as season 3, I'll take all the Yuru Yuri I can get.

I was never all that interested in Nadeshiko's "Which of her three friends is she dating?" schtick, but apparently the production staff cast Aoi Yūki, Nao Tōyama, and Sumipe as her friends. Jesus, that's quite a cast. Also, Aoi Koga is in it (though what isn't she in these days?) as that incompetent rival of Hanako's.

Finally got around to watching the Oomuroke: Dear Sisters theatrical film.

Through entirely legal means, I assure you.

Visually, it's closer to the TYO season. There's a distinct lack of background music, and one of the first scenes is a long, unbroken wide shot of Sakurako walking around her house doing various things at a leisurely pace. But it knows just when to liven things up with Doga Kobo-style slapstick and funny faces, so it feels measured and purposeful rather than a lifeless slog. Thankfully, also, TYO's awful, washed-out color palette has been banished to the pits of hell where it belongs. Sakurako's hair is once again a vibrant yellow, rather than looking like oatmeal.

As for the story, it's a rather straightforward adaptation of the first few manga chapters, as you might expect. The 40-minute film format doesn't do the series any favors, honestly. Hanako's Toy Ship with her classmate gets some focus, but Nadeshiko's part of the story just takes up space. It doesn't build up to a climax, or any sort of coherent story. Her friends appear in two scenes, then there's a mystery over "Who's in Nadeshiko's room?!" that never pays off, because that's the conceit of her subplot. It's the kind of thing that works well in an ongoing manga, since you have an expectation that it'll be revealed eventually, but in a 2-film series it just ends up feeling like a tease. It'll probably get more focus in the second film (since it's called Dear Friends and all), but I know it's not going to get resolved since I'm up-to-date on the manga. Maybe it would've felt more coherent if they'd shunted all the "friend" stuff over to Dear Friends instead, and tried to build it up to an actual climax?

But ultimately, we all know why you're here. The only question about its quality that matters is — Is Sakurako an absolute cad? And I can safely say the answer is YES, in spades. She is the troll-y scoundrel we all know and love, she gets up to plenty of her old tricks, and Emiri Katou is an absolute champ among voice actresses for the way she howls in your ear.

Judged on the Sakurako-meter (the only metric that actually matters), I give it four Sakurakos out of five. It has some plotting flaws, but the caliber of Sakurako-ish-ness on display goes a long way towards ameliorating them.
