Yes, unfortunately Mario 64 goes by Unending End Card, much like SMB2, World and Yoshi's Island.
It's pretty nice to see that cake at the very end, though.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300If you’re playing 3D All-Stars, you can hit minus to exit to the compilation menu.
Paper Mario did the same thing. Someone wrote into Nintendo Power to ask about it XD
The Protomen enhanced my life. The reset button was made for this...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.The first time I ran into the Unending End Card was in Suikoden II and I'm not exaggerating when I say it gave me existential angst.
Paper Mario was the first for me, because Super Mario 64 was too hard for kid-me to beat.
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.Probably the one I remember actually getting to was Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. And there I was introduced to the concept of no real programmed ending.
My first overall was Ocarina of Time.
Among Mario games, it was Mario Kart 64.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island had it.
I didn't realize it was a named trope though.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! You know one of the many points when a video game company has you hook, line, and seeker?
IMO, it's when you buy a game when you don't even have the console for it because you're waiting on that stronger model to come out later on.
Case in point, I took the plunge and finally bought Super Mario 3D All-Stars at my local Target just before the day Mario dies (y'know, because Nintendo said March 31st was the last day to get the collection before it's gone?), but I'm holding off on getting a Switch until we hear some actual word about the rumored Super Nintendo Switch.
In the meantime, I'll just safely store my copy of Super Mario 3D All-Stars until then.
My own... my love... my precious...

That's nothing compared to the sales of BOTW for Switch outpacing supply of the Switch back at launch.
SoundCloudAh. That's an awfully fair point.
That said, at least BOTW isn't on a limited supply like 3D All-Stars is. I can feel the aftermarket prices for 3D All-Stars being more than a little ambitious. And that's not even factoring in those damned scalpers. Those crooks would probably sell 3D All-Stars for $200-300, at least. (To be frank, I don't know how scalpers price these things. Nor do I care to know.)
The last day to acquire 3D All-Stars is on the 31st of March, right?
Hell, the expiry date was one big reason why I bothered buying it in the first place despite me owning a Gamecube back in the day and replacing it with the Wii and having the original copies of Sunshine and Galaxy alongside 64 on the virtual console (the other being my attachment to the original Super Mario All-Stars on SNES).
As I have said before, I definitely would've considered buying it if they had given it at least the Twilight Princess HD/Wind Waker HD treatment, but instead they were just remasters. I'd rather have things like poison river or pachinko machine fixed thank you very much. And I'd much prefer straight remakes. I know they already did that, but what's to say they couldn't do it again?
You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midHonestly I probably would have bought it regardless because I'm a sucker for ports.
But playing 64 & Sunshine on a Pro Controller was a good experience.
It really made me appreciate 64 more, since I'd only previously played it with N64 controllers with joysticks that were not great.
So tomorrow, Mario is gonna be gone, reduced to atoms.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life! Not surprising. One of the higher ups in Nintendo IS named Bowser.
-Witty line-I've been really looking forward to April just so we can finally put this unfunny joke to rest. Knowing the internet, though, it's probably gonna end up going into August.
Thank goodness for that new Mario Golf game XD
The Protomen enhanced my life.Like that's gonna stop anyone.
I was originally hesitant to get 3D All-Stars, mostly because of the absence of Galaxy 2, but once I understood what I was getting myself into and thought about reliving my experience with with those classic games on a modern system, I bought it. Seeing those horrid price inflations from people who want to take advantage of the demand makes me feel, on one hand, bad for people who haven't managed to get it yet and, on the other, relieved for having already my copy.
I agree with those who think that the digital availability should be permanent.
On a different note, there is only one Ninji Speedrun left. I got once again silver stars with the latest run, and the 20th level will be my last chance to get gold stars.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300I bought it since I'd never played Sunshine before, so I figured I'd take the chance at last.
All I can say is, I'm glad I got two good games for my money too.
Since my Wii U is dead, I'll bid farewell to the first Super Mario Maker by playing whichever online levels I can find on the 3DS version.

You have to reset...like Mario World
