That is interesting. In any case, last night I beat Paper Mario 64 and just thought about this Compilation Re-release of the three pre-Sticker Star Paper Mario games that I would like to call Paper Mario: Storyline Saga.
There is no storyline...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I know that you're just joking, but Paper Mario 64 was released as Mario Story in Japan. Thousand Year Door and Super Paper Mario are also quite story-driven despite being Mario games.
Growing up I never thought "Should Mario games have a overarching story?" would be one of the great debates of our time.
Especially since it had seemingly been answered when I was a teenager but then stuff happened.
Bleye knows Sabers.I always wondered what exactly was Miyamoto's problem of disliking story, like... I respect the guy for creating Mario in the first place but...
That's something I always found off about him.
"Death's vastness holds no peace. I come at the end of the long road—neither human, nor devil... All bends to my will." -Demifiend.I imagine he thinks giving an elaborate story to Mario means everything has to adhere to it (thus limiting ideas), whereas his current "treat them like actors" stance allows for more creative freedom.
Also, I thought his main issue with the post-TTYD/Super games was that the original idea for Sticker Star was too much like TTYD and he wanted a more drastic departure from that...

Smash Ultimate is getting datamined, and while I'm not sharing spoiler I can't help but share this awesome big band remix of SMB 2's ground theme.
And while he seems to have gotten his wish, the fanbase have largely turned their backs on him and want something more like TTYD now.
"You either die a hero, or you live long enough to be indirectly responsible for Sticker Star."
I think that's how the quote goes.
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.And Sticker Star is apparently the best-selling Paper Mario game in Japan so, somehow, his plan was successful.
That would explain why they didn't listen for Color Splash's development.
And here I thought the Japanese fanbase thought the same as us in their disappointment.
Isn't that just because handheld games generally sell a lot more than console games, though?
A great Mascot Mook.I have a good feeling about the next Mario RPG, even if it just ends up a 3DS port of TTYD.
Remake or Rebrake: Luigi's Mansion GCN vs. 3DS
It's a Re-Meh. If you already have it for GCN you aren't missing out on anything. Also, it's too expensive for what it is.
Unless you have someone to do co-op with...which I didn't. I'm a complete sucker for making any game I like portable though. Not to say it was worth it per se.
As good as Dark Moon was I didn't like the veer from poe-faced humour derived from playing horror straight in a Mario setting to a more zany style of Disney-brandc comedu.
Kinda ironic that Color Splash followed in the footsteps of Sticker Star and ended by being the worst-selling Paper Mario title. Such a flop must have led Intelligent Systems to decide that Sticker Star can't be the standard for the next game if it leads to bad sales.

Never could get a handle on Luigi's Mansion back when I was younger. That + the low amount of content has me feeling cold towards it. Dark Moon is great though. Fun mechanically and plenty of stuff to do.
Your preferences are not everyone else's preferences.I wasn't joking...there's no storyline that connects the games, so that's what I meant...and why would you call it that?
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Pauline, Luma, and Boom-Boom have been announced for Mario Tennis Aces.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love.">luma: what
>boom boom: unsurprising, they put pom pom in super mario party
>MOTHAFUCKIN PAULINE: YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAA BOOOOOOOOIIIIIIIIIIIII
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaTo be honest, Storyline Saga is merely a working title and having all three pre-Sticker Star Paper Mario games in one package would esentially let people play them on modern hardware. Let's if anyone can come up with a better title than Storyline Saga (because these three games are more story-heavy compared to typical Mario titles)...

I really appreciate the continued use of Jump Up, Super Star
Odyssey had just the right amount of story for a platformer, I think.
I'm also super glad to see Pauline in a sport spin off. here's hoping she shows up in MK9 whenever that happens.

For a pagetopper, I'd like to post what inspired Miyamoto to create Bowser: the Ox King from a specific rendition of Journey to the West. His original drawing resembled the Ox King a bit, but he had spikes on him for some reason. Later, professional artists touched it up and made him into a turtle dragon, with said spikes either being part of his shell, or those spiky rings he wears.
