Character Development Thread--Discussion

I'll post for Vindex & Explorer sometime later. Though somewhat unrelated... I've kind of been thinking of running some roleplay on tvtropes. Solo writing is painful for me because I already know the story, but there's so many characters I want to write. Would anyone possibly be interested?

I'm gonna try getting back to writing here. Just some lighthearted banter for now, and a hint to move the plot along.

@ladytanuki: I appreciate it. I think I'll just have to find a way not to let these things get to me.

Hm, for some reason I thought Daird was next.

Might have to wait a bit longer though, work's been especially brutal and some of my chronic health conditions have been flaring a little, will post when able.

Sorry if anyone's waiting on me. Work's been especially septic the last couple of weeks - which is a bastard because the house has been kid-free all this time and it would've been an ideal time to do some writing... if only I didn't feel like screaming and swearing at the world in general.

Wanted to take a moment to direct good wishes your way, Corvidae.

Still considering details when it comes to joining Adventure. I know from past experience that if I procrastinate too long the thread will lose its energy, but nothing's jumping out at me just yet.

@Miss_Desperado Why exactly is Shale slowly reaching for Wain's forehead? Is it some kind of mind trick, or is it a greeting of sorts?

Yes, it's a greeting, as well as an attempt to do her medical duty. Wain ignored her handshake, and she wants to make sure he doesn't have brain damage.

Edit: Okay, what part of Wain made contact with Shale's hand? Sleeve, or bare skin?

I am aware that I've not been making posts in the adventure thread for Vrask or Unnamed, but I've been suffering from writer's block & a serious lack of any motivation to write in general. I will be dropping out of adventure for the time being, but I may pop up in the future (it is unlikely though). Please consider my two characters to be gone and I am sincerely sorry for taking so long to write this post.

I think out of all of the CDT pages, Adventure has the most amount of tropes.

We still don't have a YMMV page, though, lol.

Slowly working on a post to update the situation on the Wastelanders, but I probably won't send it out until things get moving a little more in the Sun-Dry Sea and/or Town.

In the meantime, here's a sketch of Joseph as he appears in the wastes.

Not so bad if they stay near the water, but uh... yeah.

Okay, I'd like to get a handle on the speeds, directions and eyesight capabilities of all the non-humanoid characters involved around the rivers, as well as the distances involved on the landscape thereabout.

Was Krakka'a flying south and slightly east following The Scar, south and slightly west following the line of the forest, or just plain south? Also, last I knew, there was the smaller river in between Krakka'a and the larger river. He should have noticed that smaller river, right?

As part of my mustangs being descended from horses Touched by Vorlons, this herd can see further than mundane horses can. I thought the forest was binocular-distance away. I thought Krakka'a was just a speck on the horizon. How did he catch up to the herd so fast? Were my initial assumptions on distance not shared, or is Krakka'a just that fast?

If all else fails we can Hand Wave it as Krakka'a Traveling at the Speed of Plot and just proceed without editing previous posts.

I may decide to have an interloper intervene on behalf of the horses, or at the very least, possibly end up in a conversation with a talking (tailless!) wyvern (as a consequence of noticing Krakka'a flying overhead and deciding to investigate), now that I've pulled the Nuckelevee for now.

Might make an introductory post for her tomorrow at the earliest.

@Will: Oh, how convenient, I was already holding off posting for the mustang herd so I could get some questions answered, I can hold off for the additional reason of giving you time to make up your mind. I have Red Shirts in the mustang herd, just in case.

The nuckelavee will be back eventually, right? I was kind of fond of the idea I was noodling around for Rosalind going on a Roaring Rampage of Revenge if the nuckelavee messed with her mustangs.

Krakka'a was flying southwest, directly between where he was and the Coast of Chills. He didn't notice the smaller river because there was nothing interesting there.

As a whole, I feel this thread has been playing fast and loose with distances, so it's really tough to get a feel for the scale of things. If we must invoke Traveling at the Speed of Plot, then so be it.

For the record, Krakka'a isn't likely to actually attack the horses at this time. As far as he can tell, they're just dumb animals, which means he can't properly terrorize them like he could a truly sapient creature.

That said, I'm also on board with trying a dynamic between Krakka'a and a character I don't control. Or whatever dynamic can exist with someone who groups people as either annoyances, threats, useful tools, or food (with significant overlap between the categories).

Slysheen: At the restaurant having expressed a desire to go to the forest are Jean, Ulf, Teri, Wolfe and Gwion. A Lady of Adventure, a werewolf, 2 Mad Bastards and a cyborg.

I hope to get energised/creative sometime over the next couple of days. One of the managers at work is being a real arsehole and I'm not feeling particularly good right now.

I'm going to have to re-read the last couple of pages for the hotel to catch up with what has gone on there so that those who accompanied Nui etc back to the hotel are in the picture about what's happened.

For Adventure, I'm waiting for a post from Killer Clowns regarding Layi and Koyel, and another post from Mrship 21 regarding Henry A. Safon the II. For Space Liner, I'm waiting for Killer Clowns and optionally Brain Sewage.
