What other monster types have we not seen in the games? Would something like a minotaur be out of place?

Might just have Killer Instinct on the brain but I could see a Stringy-Haired Ghost Girl as a new character.
For Those who Seek the Thrill of Death: A Dramatic SMT3 Hard PlaythroughThe lack of a witch was always weird to me. To the point where I first saw Tessa, I thought she was an obscure Darkstalkers character.

What's behind the recent Darkstalkers talk?
They could add a 'normal-human' (of sorts, to a degree) slasher figure, a Leatherface or Jason.
Probably because a lot of smaller YT channels, especially fighting game oriented ones, wanted to capitalize on the spooky season and Darkstalkers was right there.
For Those who Seek the Thrill of Death: A Dramatic SMT3 Hard PlaythroughI’m actually watching another video about this series & damn the sprite-work is incredible.
So much shape-shifting & deranged animation, it’s all gorgeous.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Oh, it's great. And Resurrection was actually a great collection. I'd own it right now if it was on Steam.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireWould you mind posting a link?
Sure.
Just a little history/retrospective video.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Oh yeah, I've seen that already. Great video.
Wanna see a Dullahan/Headless Horseman character. Maybe a Theatre Phantom too.
"I'll show you fear, there is no hell, only darkness." My twitterLess Monster Movie and more Fantasy Monster, but there are plenty of monsters I'd like to see represented; a harpy, a slime, a mimic, a dragon, a lich or other skellington, a satyr, a cerberus...
The list goes on. Point is, both Darkstalkers and Red Earth should come back.

I completely forgot about that monster archetype. I can see easily see them making that character a fan-favorite. Assuming Capcom doesn't make them another silly character like they've been doing with SF V.
Having recently play MVC I don't think Arthur is a good choice at all. On paper its sounds legit, but zoning is an incredibly controversial gimmick to have. Firebrand on the other hand is more flexible in comparison.
Anyways, the ones I can think of on top of my head would an Orge/Oni, Chupacabra, a spider theme monster, & maybe a hellspawn. I'm not entirely sure if sirens counts & I would say aliens but I'm pretty sure Pyron fill that archetype. Even if he was a cosmic being.
I'm still very baffled on how a witch was never a part of the cast.

Man Goddamn that cartoon.
Da fucking Hell.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The 90s were not a good time for video game adaptations outside of the the first MK movie and the Pokemon and Digimon anime.

The Night Warriors OVA wasn’t art, but man, the quality difference. It helps that Darkstalkers was right around the tail end of “adapt fighting game for teens and adults into kids cartoon” trend.
Why was the OVA called Night Warriors?
Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge was the name of the second game, which for all intents and purposes was the Super Street Fighter II of the series, more characters, modified mechanics, same base game. The OVA specifically uses characters from that iteration.
That Street Fight animated film is named Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I'm glad as a kid I only knew about the OVA for Darkstalkers lol.
Re:New characters: I'm surprised the series doesn't have a Gorgeous Gorgon so I'd say, if it ever got a revival, that would be one of the most likely new characters to appear.
A scaled-down kaiju as an archetypical big body character would be neat too.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaI can see that one working to some extent thanks to Son Son's Supers from MVC 2. In fact, I wouldn't really be surprised if said archetype function similar to Jin's Blodia from Cyberbots & MVC 1
It may not have been art but it was heads above shoulders compare to damn near every other tv & movie adaption of any video games. I would still argue that it legitimately good even by today's standards.
I know in the IDW comics there was a witch character and her Catman. Seriously, they show up for one scene and leave. And it's a Big-Lipped Alligator Moment.I kind of hope she actually shows up in the actual Darkstalkers series if it was ever revived.
I cant argue with his selection or even his plot idea. Its all there already. Though if you were to tie Ghosts 'N Goblins into Darkstalkers, I'd start with Firebrand before Arthur. Mostly because I think Darkstalkers should run on a monsters first, humans second rule of thumb.
