As soon as I get some extra money, I'm gonna break down and get either a Desktop or an Xbox. It's pissing me off that my laptop is fully capable of running both Fallout 3 and New Vegas in every aspect of hardware except for the video card and I'd have to buy a gaming Laptop specifically to play those games. Seriously, I can run an 80 track mixing session and apply processing to each of those tracks before Nuendo starts glitching, but I can't run two freaking games because the video card isn't up to spec.
On a completely different note, I might actually finish 100% completion of Dynasty Tactics soon, after owning it for 8 years.

"Just because someone showers doesn't mean they don't play games. " - lolacatThe forecast thus far for Fallout 3's Got Y edition: Partially buggy, with a 75% chance of intermittent lock-ups. The new content would be totally awesome if the game itself didn't derp out every half-hour or so.
Jesus, Bethesda needs to get with it...how old is the Oblivion engine now? I could forgive Obvious Beta if it was new, but it isn't.

Who watches the watchmen?I might belong in this thread, as I don't understand games past the GC & PS 2 era. They scare me with their motion controls, and their fancy graphics, and their 3D, and their wifi capability. /not really joking.
I'm getting a PS 3 on Tuesday because I need a Blue Ray player. I haven't played anything but PC games this generation. Otherwise my only system are DS and PS 2. I could use some recommendations on what games to check out.
Games I like and own: Mass Effect, The Sims 3, Skyrim, Katamari Damacy, a bunch of Shin Megami Tensei games, Shadow Hearts, Fatal Frame, Dragon Age, Neverwinter Nights, Dark Cloud, Fallout3, Batman Arkham Asylum, Alice Madness Returns.
I don't like shooters or strategy games, but I'll try most other things.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickAll I seem to be playing in the last quite-a-few months is World of Warcraft and Nethack. We have an xbox 360, a PS 3, and a Wii, but they haven't got used for games much of late.
For World Of Warcraft, it's mostly because of battlegrounds — I like the tactical and strategic thinking of 10vs10, 15vs15, 40vs40 humans. And it's not a major time commitment; battles last about half an hour at most.
And for Nethack, I love the ... utter unforgiving nature of it.
A brighter future for a darker age.Try out Catherine (Megaten developers, though it's puzzle-y) and Dark Souls or Demons Souls (ridiculously good exploration / dungeon crawler that actively hates you).

I'm a skeptical squirrelI'm currently playing Medieval II Total War, specifically as the Armenians in the Broken Crescent 2.3.2 mod for the Kingdoms expansion. It's a Crusades mod with a map that reaches all the way to Western India. You can play as a large number of factions, including Eastern Romans, Armenia, Georgia, Kingdom of Jerusalem, Ayyubids, Khwarazmians, and Paramara Rajputs, among others. "Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler.Already got Fallout 1 for free when GOG had that brief special. Just need 2 and tactics.
Who watches the watchmen? From time to time, the supermarket where I work has some VG-related stuff for their seasonal section.
Right now, they're offering the Atari Flashback 3, a retro gaming system made to resemble an Atari 2600, with 60 games built in and two joysticks styled after the original controllers. Now, even if it's missing a classic here or there like, say, Pacman, for 40 bucks it doesn't look like that bad a deal.
What got me though was the box photos of people using it. At first glance it didn't look anything unusual, just the normal "leaning with the controller" type action poses (which I'm not knocking, I still do that from time to time), but then it hit me: They're holding the controllers like one would a modern console's controller, totally ignoring the one big red button for firing and the directional control sticking up in the middle of the controller.
Now, the people shown looked to be about college age, so they may not have seen a 2600 first-hand, but you'd think the big red button and that stick coming up from the controller base would've obviously been for something other than decoration purposes, either to the people posing for the shots or the ones who set up the photo session.

All your safe space are belong to Trump...
...
Kids these days. Bet they need to be shown how to hold a tennis racket, too...
PS: Please tell me it is an ET-free zone? That game sucked.
It's not on the list of games, anyway.
Unfortunately, neither is Pac Man (as I said), nor River Raid (which I used to play the hell out of when I had a 2600), and a lot of the listed games weren't that interesting to me when new.
All your safe space are belong to TrumpI started replaying Donkey Kong 64 recently. Been a bit obsessed with 100%ing it this time.
Just cleared Frantic Factory; got the Nintendo and Rareware Coins. The Donkey Kong arcade cabinet was much harder than Jetpac...
Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages?Wow that game takes me back. One of the games my mom liked to play in fact.
Of course here I am playing Assassins Creed Brother Hood

Who watches the watchmen? Was that Donkey Kong the arcade game, or Donkey Kong 64? I never know which to assume about people's moms.
(Mine would never identify as a gamer, but she did play that old Atari tank game with me, and loves Bejeweled and the game show Facebook adaptations.)

Yay, my Game of the Year Edition of Fallout 3 just showed up. Time to explore some new content!
