Er, yes, which is why people are pining for Battlefront 3.
Jonah FalconOh, okay. I have a habit of picking up lame games, so I was wondering if it's actually regarded as any good. Wish I still had that.
Ah Battlefront. If they ever make a Battlefront 3 they really ought to improve the nigh-useless ally AI, but other than that a dynamite game. It's the only game I consistently play Sniper (though the Elite Beam Sniper Rifle you get for streaks sucks major ass), and Battlefront 2's space battles were all sorts of fun and hopefully might get some expansion in the future.
Also, all hero matches. Always awesome. In that mode and out of it, Darth Maul is an engine of destruction, but still I prefer Vader and Boba Fett.

You will never love a women as much as George Lucas hates his fans.I liked those games. It a shame that Pandemic went out of business, and that Lucas Arts seems to have forgotten the computer exists...
...actually, when's the last time that Lucas Arts released a good computer game? (yes, I know TOR is coming but that's not out yet and Bioware's making that, not an in-house Lucas Arts team).
"The fact that your food can be made into makeshift bombs alarms the Hell out of me, Scrye." - CharlatanThe Hero matches were horribly unbalanced, and I never liked space battles, so my favorite times in Battlefront was stuff like taking a whole game by myself as some class (Engineer was one of the better ones, but I preferred Heavy).
And yeah, I'm sad there's no Battlefront 3.

Jonah FalconThere's a fansite that finds rumours for Battlefront 3 wanters.
I used to have so much fun with these games. I had II for Ps2 and I for PC, which I think was better. Rhen Var was a badass map.
"Weird doors open. People fall into things."Of course, people will probably made a Star Wars mod for Battlefield 3, which is basically how Battlefront came to be in the first place.
Jonah FalconWait, Pandemic went out of business? —Lip wobbles— How?
Mercenaries2 flopped I think, they shut down MP support, and then The Saboteur was their last game... guess it didn't sell well. A shame, both of those games I wanted to play.
And yeah, there was a mod for Battlefield 1942 that turned it into Star Wars... I actually tried it after I tried Battlefront. Never did get a good game going, everyone jumped over.
Off-topic, but do we have a Battlefield 3 thread?
"The fact that your food can be made into makeshift bombs alarms the Hell out of me, Scrye." - CharlatanYep.
Jonah FalconLoved the epic scale of Battlefront 2 and am very interested what can be done with next gen consoles. The very idea of going from ground to space combat seemlessly was insanely promising, too bad anything going on with Battlefront 3 is going to be a blank slate from what we've seen before.
The only issues I had with the game were largely the lack of variety and lack of control. I wanted to have multiple maps per planet and chose my own attack strategy with both space and ground combat. Nothing exactly in Real Time, but Rainbow six type of pre-battle planning.
I loved those games! Though both had their moments I did like 1 better.
I liked Battlefront 1 more than 2 because it had larger and more varied maps. And land-based vehicles.
Space battles in 2 are pretty fun though, even if they all look the same, but hey, how many different versions of space can you really do? Though I guess they could have set one in a cloud or asteroid field- something to make the space-vehicle combat more fun. ...Or have multiple command posts for each side. I do like Tantive IV and Yavin though.
But I'm speaking from the Playstation 2 versions. I don't know if any others are different.
Say, what tropes apply to the three Kashyyyk maps?
Hold the Line...that's the only one I've got at the moment.
^^^ One of the was set in an asteroid field. There just weren't very many asteroids. It was one of the Republic vs Seperatist maps.
But yeah, I remember 1 had some really dope maps: there was one that was like a citadel or something - really huge - and I fondly remember the Bespin map from the first one and it's accursed chokepoints and anti-air guns.
A main problem I had with 1, though both games have this problem, is that some maps are blatantly stacked against one side (usually ones where one side was supposed to win, storyline wise): for example, Endor had the Empire constantly being attacked by Ewoks as well, if I remember correctly, and some maps gave one side stronger positions (and, occasionally, the high ground, sniper towers, and vehicles all at once), which would allow them to mow down your pathetic allies like insubordinate hedges.
And Naboo (the one in the plains). I don't know what it is about that map. I could never hold command points in that map and keep my army alive. I don't know what it was. They just kept failing me.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Any map set on Naboo...christ, I don't know but AI stupidity just plummets. I hated that in #2 the enemy always tried to invade naboo. Just...HATED it.
Hoth was one of the more fun maps but damn it would've been nice for the AI to actually be able to hold command posts, or use the turrets to kill the AT A Ts. At least they were smart enough to use the wire gun.
Personally I loved the sniper class, I just didn't like how that unless you tend to your command posts your ai NEVER holds them. I just want to snipe for a match damnit!
My other signature is a Gundam.I hate levels where the odds are stacked against you, but Polis Massa in Battlefront 2 was by far the worst.
Fucking corridor mazes.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.The AI on both sides needs to get smarter. I've taken out over 40 people without dying. I do die maybe 4 times in a game I've taken out 100 people over half the enemy force. I wouldn't mind if they put 2 other difficulties above elite. I'd also want more soldiers on the map and at least 500 reinforcements if they ever release this on a PS 3 or 360.

Space Combat got too simple if you knew what to do. And it got repetitive too, I never did any dogfighting, I just went after the enemy capital ship with either a bomber or a drop ship. Actually flying into the ship and destroying it from the inside was all kinds of fun.
Did anyone else like that game?
