Silent is sitting in front of Roc, legs crossed and holding his pack besides him.

"Come on, Roc, it's just a short trip to Goldenrod..."

The Staraptor looks at somewhere else and preens his plumage.

"What You Say ?"

Roc: <I don't really feel like it...> — gives Silent a mini-leer.

"Awww, look..." looks for some stuff inside his backpack. "I have some nifty food..."

The Staraptor yawns and nests on the grass before Silent.

Dintel: <Wheeeee~>

The Pokémon "escapes" from the Pokéball for a couple of steps before being hit by it, he growls friendly and kicks it back in Dana's direction.

Hearthome City: Pokemon Center

-Rex and his Pokemon are sitting off to the side as he gets acquainted with his new team members, having just recently named them. Every is also there, trying to get in contact with Onion, who seems to have disappeared recently.-

Rex: *holding Dulcy* Aren't you just a cute little thing?

Dulcy: <Rawr~> *nibbles gently at his fingers*

Rex: Haha... *pulls his hand away from her gently* Full of energy, I see.

Mix: *sniffs at Amp* <Hi! I'm a forest fox! What are you?>

Amp: *blinks and pokes at Mix curiously*

Puck: <Hmm...> *tugs on Every's pants leg, trying to give him a hug*

Yuna: <What's with all of the noi-> *peeks out of Rex's backpack and sees Puck* <Eep! It's HIM...I think.>

Rikku: <Oh, you say that about every Buizel.>

Route 32

After too much (ie.: one minute) nagging from Silent Roc decides to take off and go to a tree. From there he observes as he nests again. Silent walks up to the tree.

"Hey Roc, it would be a nice tour of the mainland. Perhaps you can see a magnet train or something before we reach Goldenrod..."

Roc: <Wake me up when we're there...> — closes eyes.

"..."

Roc: <...zZz... ...zZz... >

"...Copahue has so much a better disposition..."

Dintel giggles as well, then prompts Dana to kick or toss the Pokéball at him again. Silent watches the two play for a moment then tries to bribe Roc into flying him to Goldenrod via various means, but not even an Energy Root helps.

Somewhere near the Johto Nidoran Colony, Seven days ago

While Maekrite is returning from a talk with the elders about how long has he left Silent without care, Teala is practising kicks and punches in the mountainrange, both angered and worried that the Nidorino is taking so long. She realizes he must be taking quite a chewing - after all, isn't she supposed to be with Tracer right now as well? Taking care of him?

However, her mind shifts to a more immediate concerns - the lacerations in her arms and torso product of her latest training session with Hamada and the others. They are definitively not as serious as the previous ones and she has managed to beat up some Nidos, but she still hasn't seen this translate into something she wants, something she needs...

Yesterday, the day after the Equinox

Teala slams a Linoone, crushing her against a tree; the Pokémon tries to defend by Slashing Teala's arm, but the Druddigon sees it coming, lets go and punches the Linoone as she falls.

Wild_Linoone♀_lv28: <@_@> — faints not very dramatically.

Teala watches the fallen Linoone, then notices some very small leaves are falling from the tree she tackled her into. Smiling to herself, the Druddigon makes room for the the medical group header by a herb-carrying Nidorina and her family to come assist the training group.

Calino -to one of her kits: <Give me that herb... don't worry, we'll find another one later...>

Shortly after, Teala is standing with Pierce and two Nidorinos for inspection just as usual, while Hamada walks around the group, poking them with his horn and glaring at them for a while.

He steps in front of a Nidorino... who looks down.

Hamada: <Akela, you still haven't learned to Fury Attack properly... you are not going to get past patroller that way.>

After some small talk and admonishing, the Nidorino moves in front of Pierce.

Pierce: <Am I doing it right?> — barks happily, then he simply tilts his head when Hamada glares at him.

Hamada: <You still rush into things as soon as they happen, pup. Be careful, that stamina is not always going to assist you.>

Pierce stays silent as if wondering about those words, then the Nidorino steps in front of Teala and observes her for a moment. Teala looks back at him respectfully and smiles.

Hamada: <Keep working on defending your frontside, you can react better to the danger if you can see and smell it well.>

Teala -blinks, grumbles: <T-that's it?>

Hamada glares Teala down, and the Druddigon shies a bit. Then the Nidorino walks past her to reprimand the last member of the group.

That's it. No "your punches are good". No "your effort is paying up". No "thanks for helping protect our Colony". Just a dry set of instructions to follow next.

The Nidorino examines the shadows of the trees in the ground and the scents in the air, with the other Nidos watching intently. Teala is too busy ruminating and reprimanding herself to wonder why are they doing that.

Hamada -turns to the rest of the group: <Maekrite, Teala and Pierce are excused until hyaoth (tomorrow). The others, hli dayneth (come here), for we must prepare.> — points horn to the sky — <Marlao mai, the time of the females, is about to come.>

The Nidorinos quickly concert around their leader, bumping and ramming against each other, yelling, howling and mock-threatening each other, while Maekrite guides Teala and Pierce away.

Her mind back in the present, Teala rubs her scars carefully and reminds herself the last time she fought a Royal Couple. «I was so close,» she reminds herself, but then she also reminds herself that she lost and was hurled against a tree right in front of Maekrite.

Teala swings her tail and arm, tearing a nearby tree down. "<Aww damn it!>" She looks at nowhere for a moment. "<I-I should be able to fight better than this. How hard should it be to beat a Nido?>" Sighs and grumbles. "<It's not like Silent trains all of them here... whereas I can train...>"

????: <It's not that hard, depending on who you pick on...>

Teala turns around and looks above her to follow the voice and notices the shade of an old Nidorina resting on a rock nearby. She grumbles and walks up to the next rock to give the Nidorina a piece of her mind, but quickly returns to her senses when the Nidorina steps out from the shadows and climbs down the rock, sitting in front of Teala.

Teala: <A-a-...>

Inka: <So you are "Teala"... I hadn't had the pleasure to meet you yet...> — chuckles and steps closer — <I'm Inka, old friend of Iggy's...>

Teala's mind suddenly blanks, her anger at herself and the world around her forgotten. All she knows at the moment is her own name and species ("dragon", she keeps telling herself)... and that there are two thoughts frantically fighting against each other to emerge to her more conscious mind...

Teala: <A-a-a-I am... Teala, yeah...> — sheepishly steps back.

She remembers the name, she also remembers the shape. Even if she hadn't ever seen the Nidorina before, she knew some things thanks to Nadia... painfully thanks to Nadia. One idea popped into her mind for a moment, causing Teala to fall out of stance and blush (unnoticeably under her red crest). This was Maekrite's mom... and perhaps she knew...

Teala: <W-what are you...?>

Inka: <Well this is my home... and I thought, see...> — looks around, focusing her view on the broken rocks — <it seems you might use a training session...>

Teala suddenly gets very stiff and after a moment where her heart skips like 4 beats, she realizes the other thought that surfaced into her mind. She is a dragon. That Nidorina in front of her is Inka... and most of what she knows about that Pokémon beyond her being Maekrite's mother is...

Lance's Dragonite -trying to hide behind three Barriers: <...HEEEEEELP!!!!!!>

Teala gulps, only now starting to realize the weird situation she has found herself into... she instinctively scans the surroundings with her eyes, then sheepishly asks to the Nidorina. "<W-w-what do you m-m-mean...? Like... n-n-n-now????>" — tries to think of an escape...

"<Sure, why not?>" Inka asks back, narrowing her eyes at Teala. "<You just said you need some training. And I could use a battle before I go to the city...>" — cracks neck.

«Great,» speaks that little voice in Teala's head, «now she is going to kill us...»

"<Errrm...>" Teala shies away, tries to step back. Only to remember she had turned her back to the rock she was practising on.

«Oh great, you deadlocked yourself... Here, have a little idea,» speaks the little voice in Teala's head, «let's see if you can even try to save ourselves...»

Teala: <M-Maekrite... I am waiting... er... I was waiting for him...> — points at a random direction.

Inka: <What's the matter?> — sniffs around — <Oh, Maekrite isn't around so I guessed I could serve as a substitute training partner... I can't be that bad, can't I?>

Inka steps forwards... getting closer...

Teala: <I-it's not th...>

And as the Nidorina tries to reach to Teala with her arm, Teala starts suddenly recalling something that terrifies her... not an experience of her own, but as vivid in its narration so as to actually scare her. All because Audrey had shown her one of her partner's emotions...

????: «...still alive~»

Teala sheepishly looks left and right looking for an escape, thinking how far she would make it before the inevitable happens. She pushes further back against the rock as Inka sits before her and quizically looks up.

????: «...then she'll bite you~»

Suddenly Teala slips and grumbles; in a sudden state of fear and confusion, she closes her eyes and swipes at the Nidorina with a scream. Inka is taken by surprise by the swipe and falls to the rocky ground; she grumbles and gets herself back on her feet to then swing her own arms, tossing poison needles from her claws...

Teala: <....meeeeep!> — cowers and covers with her crest.

After the Poison Stings hit Teala decides to stomp on the ground to cause a tremor — however in the time it takes her to lift a leg she sees Inka roll on the ground by her side and past her; before Teala even has a chance to realize what is happening and turn her head around, she is suddenly lifted off the ground.

????: «...then she'll nom you~»

Teala tries to scream for anymon to come help at her, but her breath is taken off her when after seeing the sky blur away and turn into the forest again, she comes to crash against a tree and fall to the ground.

Teala listens to some pawsteps and instinctively tries to roll on the ground into position to fire a Dragon Rage. She watches the fireball fly and impact something, lifting a cloud of smoke and debris.

Teala: <Rrrrr... y-you...>

She tries to stand up, but before she is done she sees the smoke subside and reveal a rock that the Nidorina had used for cover; before Teala can try any maneuver she hears the rustling of leaves in the few trees nearby and turns around only to take an Ice Beam to the chest. Roaring and grumbling, the Druddigon steps back, suddenly confused about what to do... one part of her reminding her that she has to defend something from an attacker, another part reminding her she is suppossed to be a guest...

But the part that wins is the one that reminds Teala of the pain she endured while in the Dragonspiral Tower, of the then purposeless nights in the guard shift... of the Ice Beam frost on her chest and of the ineludible fact that she is now facing a dragonslayer, and it might be the last day she sees Maekrite or anything else forever.

As the Nidorina climbs down the tree and tries to rush at Teala, the Druddigon suddenly hops to reach a nearby rock and toss it at Inka as a distraction; then, inmersed in a survival-ensuring spree, she collects all the energy she can for an Hyper Beam.
