If there's anything you want for the room, we can take it from the control room tomorrow. Steven's going to be in a bad mood, so there's no use asking him. The only living beings currently on this thing that he likes are Dana and, by extension, Crewe, anyway.

Anyway, can you familiarize me with this place tomorrow and stuff? That would be appreciated. And bring me up to speed on what's been happening, too.

-Atop some logs, Mayonaka and the other breeder females are sitting, listening to the reports being delivered by the different messengers of the agents involved in the events of the day, and displaying their approval or disapproval of the outcomes-

Mayonaka — <How did we lose so badly in the south?>

"Appeared south of Rt.34, by sea, they somehow managed to slip by undetected until some random wild mons reported excessive noise."

"We are just gathering the survivors of the first battle, which was half of the battalions sent there to breed for next year..."

"Our forces have been overrun in the city too... more now with the attacks on sight."

Breeder #1 — <Do we know who is their commander and why did they come here?>

"Some grasssnake Serperior, very powerful, who managed to shrug off attacks by Frithvaorah."

"They come from this place called Unova, who apparently believe they own the world and are not afraid to show it."

"Yeah, there are many other human cities under assault too, or at least that's what seems... and many Pokémon cruelly dying there."

"Strange, considering that the comments we got from Ecruteak says they themselves were at war among themselves too. Comments by Frithvaorah's allies seem to confirm this."

Breeder #2 — <It's hard to believe that snake can claim to be in their side, considering if what the Pidgeot escaping from the Viridian colony are saying is true...>

Mayonaka — <No, that's a facade. He's just like the others.> — turns to the other breeders, raising a paw — <He says to attack only in response to provocation, but it is he who has provoked us first, all substantiated on some fake divine right. Such an hypocrite is a waste of my venom...> — spits on the ground.

Breeder #3 — <What is the current condition of the southern branch of the Army?>

"Yes, marlirah. They gathered again under Rize's command... he managed to avoid contact with the invaders as they moved to the south."

"The enemies are likely heading to Azalea. That town won't hold for long!"

"When can Rize and his group make it back here?"

"We're not sure, marlirah. He fears that letting those troops advance will eventually mean the Colony will be surrounded by the enemy."

"He's not that wrong in that regard though. The only other settlement capable of resistance, according to our couriers, is Violet, and that's just right behind us."

"We had to convince him that staying here was better. Later he was forcing brief skirmishes with the enemy forces on the southern city border, to use as distraction as his troops help relocate refugees."

Breeder #4 — <How does he plan to jump back after that?>

"He says he'll try either the coast or the eastern mountainrange. None of the options is very promising..."

"However, if there's even a slight hint of truthfulness in that Serperior commander not wanting to damage the city, we can at least help Rize cross through the coast, since sea forces won't be firing against the city."

Mayonaka — <We must not weaken our position on Rt.35, however.> — to Taisho — <How stable is our presence there?>

"We are pretty much rooted there thanks to both the human edifications and the density of the forest itself. Unless they go the whole way around and attack Olivine first, there's pretty much no way they can reach the National Park without being detected... or at most reaching alive."

"We gave their commander a first reprimand for their behaviour and corresponding warning shot some hours ago, during the skirmish that resulted in Frithvaorah leaving the city under chase. We managed to protect him and his Pokémon, then a display of 36% of our immediate poisonstorming power at the basic level left the entirely of the Commander's troop badly poisoned, according to our reports."

Breeder #2 (with glee) — <I hear from our Noctowl partners that the Serperior also got a nice surprise gift from one of us, too...>

"Yes, marlirah. The Owsla have confirmed the hit and the branding, which took place right inside the enemy column less that forty-five seconds after the Poison Deluge call was activated. The agent who executed the kill will report fully on the operation at your discretion, anytime tomorrow."

Breeder #2 — <In my private nest at Ni-Frith would be fine... tee hee...>

"...What? Did you say that in public?"

-Mayonaka sighs, then calls for a short break before continuing the report in order to reunite the latest messengers from the city, as well as an emergency carriage...-

<Serperior: "What is the status of our occupation?">

<Magmortar: "All of the targets in our debriefing have been secured or otherwise neutralized, General. The land and aerial patrols are rolling out along with the snipers as we speak.">

<Serperior: "... This town felt so deserted, even for its size. What were the casualty figures?">

<Blastoise: "Approximately 250 defenders, both human and Pokemon, sir. We captured just over 160 of their number. Our forces incurred less than 80 casualties.">

<Serperior: "Hmm... Well at least it's fairly bloodless...">

<Blastoise: "Um... As light as it was sir, we think that it might be pertinent to inform you that a small number of skirmishes were recorded with Nidoran along the border of the town... Also, one of the casualties was one of your colonels, who was struck down in a surprise attack, we believe that the two may be related.">

<Serperior: "... I see... Thank goodness there's an alternative route into the north... Are there any current leads as to the unexpectedly light resistance?">

<Hydreigon: "It appears that a number of the citizens evacuated shortly prior to our advance. Scouts spotted an abnormally high number of travelers heading northwards along Route 33.">

<Serperior: "... I suspect that the ogre's activities in Kanto may have given me an unexpected boon... As much as I hope that that is not the case. Speaking of which, what is the news from his theater?">

<Eelektross: "He appears to have captured Saffron, sir. Though a force sent to capture Pallet Town appears to have been completely annihilated.">

<Serperior: "... He captures one of the largest cities in the region and fails to take a pathetic hamlet? How on earth did that happen?">

<Eelektross: "We are not fully certain, General.">

<Serperior: "Well I know what's going to happen to the officer responsible for that... Anything else from that theater?">

<Eelektross: "A small number of his forces appear to have been dispatched in ambushes in Celadon earlier today, sir.">

<Serperior: "Ah... So it begins... I wonder how much longer the ogre's fortunes will last... As for the lizard and his theater?">

<Magmortar: "He took Lilycove last night and appears to have taken Fortree and Mossdeep. The last with the loss of one of his fleet's ships.">

<Serperior: "How on earth that twerp takes anything with such a scattered front I'll never know... Are there any recent developments elsewhere in Johto that I should be aware of?">

<Gyarados: "Local authorities appeared to sense that something was amiss earlier today, General. After taking this town, we expect martial law to be declared in Johto within the hour.">

<Serperior: "Hmm... That's a little sooner than I had hoped... But I suppose that I should be thankful that their response was already as laggard as it was... That will be all.">

Mayonaka — <Ahem... let's see... what positions do we have left in the city?>

"Pretty much none, marlirah. The humans there fell defenseless with the very first attacks. The Nildrow were well prepared and willful, but all of us were taken by surprise. The enemy managed to destroy the spire that the humans use for communication, too..."

"From there our presence decayed sharply starting by the west side, when the last Nidoran and Rattata scouts had to evacuate the tunnels. That was the last time we got news from Silent before the recent events..."

Breeder #3 — <I see... what about the east side?>

"At first our presence there was unaffected, thanks to the secret access at Silent's house. However, the operations that resulted in the burning of the humans's item store building as well as the recovery of Frithvaorah triggered a sharp change in the enemy's policy, who began expelling us on sight."

"Between that and the fact that we ourselves have walled this route, we have pretty much no Army agents in the city. There's only some small groups by the east, helping gather the last remaining kits as well as coordinate with our assists."

Breeder #3 (sighs) — <This gets complicated. What the heck happened with the burned building anyway?>

"An emergency Owsla operation, marlirah. Silent got trapped there while fetching resources, when the enemies first attacked. He apparently understood our strategies and did something that lit up the tower..."

Breeder #1 — <This reminds me of the lore of u Frithrah's tower we had before Mr. Luke came visit...>

"It fulfilled three purposes — carried the news across the land, disabled the store and its resources temporarily while we can't access them, and drew enough attention that several kits were able to reach our route from across the city right before the curfew."

"Unfortunately, marlirah, Silent was hurt during the operation, and was just moved to Inka's place in bad condition. We have issued Maekrite the duty to report, and had to force him to come tomorrow since he didn't want to leave the human's side."

Mayonaka — <Well he'll have to cope. The human's welfare is his responsibility.> — growls and scratches a Lairon hide — <If we can't counter these attacks effectively, it's in great part because of his failure.>

"I take responsibility for his failure, marlirah. It was me who withdrew the patrols from Silent's area to give the Nildrow more comfort during their preparations."

Breeder #4 — <No need, not now... I understand, however, that Silent got us the information we sent for.>

"Yes, marlirah. Six humans whose skills and resources are of vital importance for the immediate survival of this Colony. Special agents were sent to retrieve all of them, but perhaps because of the curfew, only two have been returned."

"They are being sent to Ecruteak as we speak. We hope that they'll be safe there..."

"...Honestly, we don't even know if the other humans are alive."

Mayonaka — <...Great. And I think my sarcasm there is obvious.>

"However, without Silent to explain the logistics, we will be forced to temporarily rely on Frithvaorah to have those humans work for us."

Breeder #2 — <What will happen to him?>

"We will let him decide tomorrow, as for the moment he is resting. We don't even know why he was here or at what point he came back."

Breeder #3 — <I want him, or one of his Pokémon, assigned to the team that is checking our lore.> — points to Ecruteak — <With things as bad as they are getting, we need to know what else did we get wrong.>

"Yes, marlirah."

"What about the Army?"

Mayonaka — <Let's stand as we are. No enemy leave Goldenrod by the north or east. Send emissaries to see if we can get help to secure the sea.> — to an Elder — <And we need to know for any way to delay their advance towards Violet City.>

"Yes... about that, our latest reports indicate that the enemy troops arrived to Azalea. However, nothing in their behaviour indicates if they will continue or turn back."

"As a protective measure though, we strongly suggest that the core ring be moved to the south, and the invocation of The Vow be suspended."

"We agree with both recommendations."

Breeder #3 — <...We realize what it would mean for all of us to move the core, but if there is no other way, it must be done.>

Breeder #1 — <We will begin preparations tomorrow.>

Mayonaka — <And spread the voice as well. As of tomorrow, invocation of The Vow is suspended until further notice, and all hlessi will be drafted into the army no matter their age.>

"...!"

"...Yes, marlirah."

Breeder #2 — <What are our most immediate courses of action then?>

"At the moment, sending scouts to warn the wild population of Rt.36, Rt.32 and Rt.31 of the situation. Try to get all of them in our side, even elil."

"I have taken the liberty to gather the seers from the city of the east. They'll be here in two days, and with their help we should be able to reveal those invisible attackers."

Mayonaka — <Fine then. This will be all for now.>

-The groups disperse, and after a while an Elder comes to speak to Mayonaka-

Elder — <Don't you think that we must bring them into action?>

Mayonaka — <Not yet. We need to score a winning hit first, somehow. I'm sure allying with the elil will be key to that. Hmmm... draft Mr. Luke's companions into it so they convince the elil. What 'mon would refuse to fight for their Gods?>

Goggles: <Well, yeah. No point in searching the area since he's not here.>
