Taipan: Ah, Helmuth I. Now, I'm more of an archeology gal myself. Dragon scales of an uncertain species in the armor. Resplendent funerary mask among other elaborate grave goods common in keeping with the theme of showing off status even beyond the grave. Zombie horde possibly meant to serve him if and when he rises from the dead. It's a history lesson and a video game level come to life. I like these odds.

Jackie: <I know you can barely understand me, Prissy, but what that dead guy is wearing disgusts me to no end. Are those dragonite scales?>

Tommy walks around a dingy unrestored section of a Gothic cathedral

Tommy: On today's episode of Learner Lab, we're here at Kalos where we're looking at the vaulted ceilings of the [Chartres Cathedral]. Stone is very heavy and doesn't make a good material for tall buildings because they'll need to be extra thick at the bottom, and nobody wants that. So engineers from Medieval times had these stones carved and piled into arches and vaults.

The camera pans as Tommy walks to the apse of the church. He stops beneath a bejeweled statue of Palkia. The camera pans out to reveal its massive vaulted structure, which had been the subject of immense restoration.

Tommy: This allowed people to create really huge and beautiful indoor spaces. Though a building like this could still take centuries to finish, it can stand for more than a thousand years.

-Her sundress lengthens and elaborates into a black and red gothic lolita dress. The mask in her hand darkens, turning into a beaked black domino mask. A large black witch's hat appears on her head, and an ebony wood staff manifests in her left hand.-

-Breathing heavily, she firmly plants her staff on the ground. Behind her is a large, black-furred Espurr, with a patch of white fur on their chest.-

???: ''I am Rue, the Cat Sith. My gaze lays waste to all I see!"

-Rue's eyes flash as they attempt to blind the Shadow and weaken its accuracy.-

-Shadow Atlas aims a Fire Punch at Uther as his burn aches.-

-The black-shelled Wartortle and the Delphox-like priest spring forth. Genbu chuckles as he calls forth a barrier to reduce physical damage as Abe-no-Seimei begins chanting a prayer that prevents allies from taking critical hits.-

Taipan: I did. All of them. You can never be too careful in situations like this.

Murphy: With all your compunctions about ending lives, T, I'm still surprised we even put that many guns in that suit.

Taipan: But aren't you glad we did? Ordinarily, I'd have used them only in an emergency, but the emergency threshold passed when the walkers started attacking the town. Besides, their lives ended a millennium ago!

Seems woodwind instruments are the best. Maybe because it's coming from a more similar location to my larynx. Or maybe it's because they're easier to aim than say, a guitar.

Mischief blushed vividly at the attention and praise she was getting. She combed her claws through her mane, then plopped down on the ground.

Mischief: <S-stop it... I was just protecting Shadow...>

Ophidia doesn't seem too bothered by the pointless walk.

Ophidia: <It's okay Armando...>

Shadow, however, has his mind elsewhere.

Shadow: Shouldn't we tell your dad what just happened? He's certain to ask about our day, at the least. Oh, library plans are still on. Evolved or not, it's vital Mischief deal with her fear. She's a 5'03", 178.8 pound fox with sharp claws and teeth. If she panics, it's not a stretch to think someone will get hurt, and that'll weigh on my conscience and hers. So we need to deal with- Mischief, what exactly are you doing?

Mischief was busily creating small Illusions.

Mischief: <Practicing. I need to master my increased power, right? No time like the present.>

Shadow: Um... True. Hey, I've heard stories of Zoroark who took human form and lived among us, even speaking perfect English with help from their Illusion!

Mischief: <And I've heard of Zoroark who spent so much time in one disguise they forgot they're Zoroark! Not every story comes true before your eyes!>

Mischief looked progressively more confused.

Mischief: <WHOA WHOA WHOA SLOW DOWN! What are you talking about?! Why would I do that anyway?>

Shadow looks at Silversmith. Suddenly he bumps Mischief with an elbow.

Mischief: <OW!!! WHAT WAS THAT- Oh.>

Shadow: Looks like it's all real to me. A couple of minor tips. First, Zoroark can't maintain an Illusion if their concentration is broken. Second, their Illusions, on their own, are Illusions. Intangible, not real. They can't create things from thin air. If you can slap it and it stays, it's real. Third, seriously, relax Silversmith. Life isn't going to be a cakewalk. You just need to not let things overwhelm you.

As he finishes, he waggles the scarf pointedly at Silversmith before finally returning it to his bag.

Mischief: <Silversmith? Are you ever going to forgive me? It was a long time ago.>

Shadow: Mischief, it's been maybe a week. I dunno, I- Mischief I appreciate you supplying visual puns but now's not the time!

He had noticed Mischief had taken the form of an Audino and had to stifle laughter. She shifted back, blushing. She hadn't even noticed her Illusion had kicked in. Before, as a Zorua, it took far more effort to maintain a perfect Illusion. Now it took a thought to shift and only minor effort to maintain - although it still took effort to do so.

Shadow: As I was saying, I don't pay attention to dates and all. But a long time to you isn't that long ago to him. Mischief, that's enough with the kicked puppy look. He isn't physically hurting you, and while I'm going to try to fix his paranoia I can't guarantee he won't always be looking over his shoulder! Now, then... -turns to Silversmith- Shall we head to the library?

Ophidia: <OOHHH I'd love to visssit thisss "library"! It sssoundsss almossst magical!>

Mischief tried to blend into the background. She wanted to master her Illusion quickly, but without bothering anyone, especially Silversmith. The forms she took varied. She also created small Illusions away from her, although she didn't yet have the skill necessary to, say, create snaking vines or anything else too fancy. Mostly balls of light and stuff. One looked suspiciously like a Litwick's candle flame. She wished she had a tutor or something.

Armando: <Enough with your misused Descartes nonsense! If the entire world is a fraud, what does that have to do with Mischief?>

Silversmith: "It makes my point, that you can't know what is illusion and what isn't."

Armando: <...Let's just go to the library. Ophidia, you'll love it! You could turn my pages! It's so difficult without limbs, see. And the pages are so close together...>

Silversmith: "I did forgive you, Mischief. Tradition has it that the stupid neither forgive nor forget, the naive forgive and forget, but the wise man forgives, and does not forget."

Cortez: <Enough high level book smart thingies! Mischief, I never go in the library, I can't read anyways. Wanna show me your new illusions outside?>

Mischief: <As long as it won't bother Silversmith... My Illusions are so much bigger, more powerful... It's said that Zoroark can fool entire crowds... Oooh! I could perform on a stage! I'd just need an assistant!>

Mischief: <I, uh, don't think that would work... And I have a keeper. Hmm...>

Shadow: Scorch? When did YOU get here?! I told you to stay at the house!
