Armando: <Ok, so I don't damn you, but we have no idea what other consequences there are! Who knows what other curses I've already brought upon my comrades! And what if I accidentally get excited and damn you anyways? Also, whoop de do we have a water type. I'm so thrilled.>

Silversmith: "Uhh, are you ok Shadow? Perhaps we should go..."

Armando: <Yes. I'm tired of all this water. Me and Ophidia can finish at the hotel.>

Silversmith: "Alright."

Silversmith: "Get it together, she thought you were a bruxish. Remember? Face your fears?"

Cortez: <Well, yea...>

Cortez climbed out of the water and warily looked at Aqua. She hadn't taken notice.

Aqua: <Hey, Jackson, uhh, this might sound kinda weird, but... Can I ride on your shoulder?>

Silversmith: "Lemme check my pecha berry stock. *digs in bag* Nope, I'm down to two. Why would you want to do that?"

Aqua: <It's just... I always see the wingulls, flying up in the sky, and... I always wondered what it was like to look down at the ground...>

Armando: <Don't do it!>

Cortez: <Do it!>

Silver Bullet: <Why don't you just ride on me?>

Aqua: <I don't want to sound ungrateful, but your not very tall...>

Silver Bullet: <That's fair.>

Silversmith: "...eeeehhhhh..."

Aqua: <Please?>

Silversmith: "... Shadow, drag me back to the hotel if this doesn't work."

Silversmith quite carefully maneuvered the mareanie by her main body, taking great pains to avoid the ominous spikes protruding from her...everything.

Aqua, now on shoulder: <Wow, this is cool! Thanks!>

Silversmith shuddered at the poisonous death perched on his shoulder. Aqua, ecstatic at her new elevation, considered nuzzling Silversmith, but his expression headed off any thoughts of that.

Silversmith: "Alright. Lets go back to the hotel. At 2 miles per hour tops, please."

Cortez lagged behind.

Ophidia: <Ahhh, much better. I was ssstarving!>

Mmmmm...> -relaxesss completely, resssembling a rotund noodle- <I have to agree with Missschief... Thisss feelsss niccce... I'm a little drowsdsy... Sssunlight and a full ssdtomach combine to create a drowsssinessssss that makesss it hard to move...>

Shadow: See you later Ophidia. -mumbling- MISCHIEF never stole a fish I just caught... What will go wrong next...

Armando: <Yea. Sleep. Full stomach. Sounds real fun. You mortals have it great. Were you planning on being conscious enough to discuss the dilemma at hand?>

Gazing upon Ophidia's present state of drowsiness made even Armando feel content. He settled for setting himself down near her pillow. Still not used to positive emotions, he then awkwardly floated back to his usual height, and, like a cat, pretended that didn't happen. Cortez stealthily snuck in behind the crowd, and then slammed the door shut. Aqua instantly noticed, and a haze came over her expression as before. She decided now was the time for action and leapt at Cortez's tail as best she could, scaring the crap out of Silversmith.

Cortez: <AH! I told you! Get it off get it off get it>

Silversmith withdrew Aqua and sighed once more. He was getting used to sighing. His nerves were strained by being around so many people in the hotel, and the mareanie that had just utilized his shoulder as a diving board.

Silversmith: "What's up with her? She was perfectly nice back at the beech, if a tad... close. I swear, she tried to nuzzle her tentacles on my face at one—"

Cortez: <She's crazy! Keep that thing away from me!>

Silversmith: "Please calm down, you'll get your spores everywhere again. So, Shadow, I see Maverick's up and about? Will he be coming with us to Lanakila?"

Armando: <I think I'll stay behind again.>

Cortez: <So you two love birds can—>

Armando: <Shut up. You couldn't possibly understand the depths to which—>

Silversmith: "Break it up, we're here to have fun. *looks around room*Can we leave soon?"

Ophidia: <Oh, I'm consssciousss enough for some intellectual discourssse. In fact, I can't do much elssse right now. I really don't feel like moving right now.>

The Sssnivy looksss at Armando with a confident grin and half-lidded eyesss, although underneath the calm exssterior typical of Sssnivy her heart wasss racccing.

Shadow actually picked Maverick up and started walking out the door, in response to Silversmith's query.

Maverick: <Wait hey what's up with you what's the rush why're you carrying me I can walk on my own.>

Silversmith withdrew cortez, and noticed the extra pokeball containing Aqua. He shrugged and deployed it.

Aqua: <One more... Oh. Hee hee... Hi... Where are we?>

Silversmith: "The great Mount Lanakila! But I've got a more important question. Why do you keep trying to eat Cortez?"

Aqua almost blushed, but it was hard to tell behind the tentacles.

Aqua: <I'm... I wouldn't do that! It's those fruit! On his tail! They're manna from heaven! How do you resist?>

Silversmith: "...They're disgusting."

Aqua's eyes widened.

Aqua: <...Really? ...I guess different people like different things... Can I get on your shoulder again?>

Silversmith: "...Don't try to poison me."

Aqua: <Why would I do that? That doesn't sound very nice.>

Shadow was still muttering irritably. Maverick was completely comfortable, his thick fur insulating him perfectly.

Shadow: It's freaking freezing out here! I should've brought a coat! Or a Fire type. I can't get fired up when I'm getting cold feet!

Maverick: <Oh Arceus. Not this again.>

An arm would extend from the portal and pulled Milagros in as everything and everyone in the casino (sans Milagros' mother) gradually dissolved into static.

Milagros' Mother: FIND THEM! THOSE J-TEAMERS ARE SO CLOSE!

Milagros would wake up next to Blitz.

Milagros: Ugh... What happened there?

Blitz: <You got mugged. Don't worry, I got everything back for you.>

He would get up and brushed his knees.

Milagros: Well, I guess I need to do what mother told me? What did she mean by "them"?

Baby Cat and Blitz: <Hmm?>

Milagros: I had another confusing dream.

He sighed.

Milagros: Okay, here's how the past few days went. I nearly ran someone over, followed some people into a tree which leads to a magical clothing store, turned into a Pancham then an Anorith, fought Team Skull grunts, got shouted at by an entitled parent and found out my entire family is dead. Now I have to find people I don't know the names of. The only clues I have is that they're members of the J-Team and they're in Jubilife right now.

He paused, and had a realisation.

Milagros: What if they were the people from that dream in Ersatz?

He ended up smiling.

Milagros: Shouldn't be too hard.

Ophidia was now very close. She had almost left her pillow to reach, and propped herself up with vines.

Aqua waved a tentacle at the vulpix and nearly smacked Silversmith in the face. He wanted to recoil, but knew that any sudden motion would have unfortunate consequences.

Armando was stunned. He expected misgivings, backing away, dissolution of all ties to Ophidia. And yet here she was, drawing nearer!

Armando: <...None taken. Just... let me know if anything goes horribly wrong.>

He very carefully took a long needed swig of life energy, while gazing deep into Ophidia's eyes.

Ophidia didn't seem bothered, although she relaxed more. Somehow, it felt good to donate a piece of her life force to Armando.

The Snivy suddenly planted a kiss on Armando, before coughing at the taste.

Ophidia: <Ugh! You tassste like waxss!>

The obvious nature of this statement dawned on her.

In his haste to depart, Silversmith tripped, giving him a minor heart attack. Luckily for him, the mareanie on his shoulder barely avoided poisoning him and fell into the snow beside him.

Silversmith: "Crap, thats cold! What the hell did I trip on? First I get roasted, then I freeze..."

Aqua: <I-i-it's ok... Y-y-you tripped on that rock...>

Silversmith withdrew the shivering Aqua and examined the rock.

Silversmith: "Crap, this rock's colder than the snow! ...It's an ice stone! Here you go, Shadow, I don't need it. Lets get out of here!"

Hotel adjacent to the most cruel and noble of deserts, Haina

Armando fluttered and shook at being filled, and shortly after kissed. He had no idea what to do with these new emotions. Just... be happy? Happiness and fullness were alien to him.

Armando: <Thanks... No offense taken...>

He was speechless. He didn't know how to react. He wasn't starving, he was blushing, the world was upside down, everything was crazy. He decided he would simply enjoy it.

Armando: <Ophidia, have I ever complimented you on your intellect? It's refined. Far more so than any of my comrades. And the gracefulness with which you... anything. ...Are you sure you're not attracting me?>

Shadow stashed the Ice Stone in his bag (on top of Mischief, who wasn't bothered by the cold any more than Maverick), recalled his Pokemon, and started moving quickly down the mountain.

Ophidia blushed at the compliment.

Ophidia: <No, you haven't. And no, I'm not.>

True love. Not quite at first sight, but... And Armando seemed truly happy. For the first time.

Pokédex: Ampharos, the Light Pokémon, and the Evolved form of Flaaffy. An Electric Type. The tip of its tail shines so brightly that in days gone by, people used it to send signals to each other with the light. Ampharos is one of many Pokémon capable of Mega-Evolution.

Silversmith, Shadow, and company re-entered the room. Cortez, upon seeing Armando without a frustrated look on his face, was puzzled.

Cortez: <Who are you and what have you done with Arman— Oooh! I forgot! You're in—>

Armando: <Please. Just, don't.>

Cortez could tell he was serious and hopped away. Aqua, healed at this point, also took notice.

Aqua: <Even more love going round, Armando? Today is a great day!>

Armando: <More?>

Aqua: <Yes! Armando, Ophidia, meet Snowy! Maverick's new...friend!>

Silversmith sat down and put his cold hands over Armando. Armando looked from Ophidia to Snowy, and reasoned that a tussle was inevitable. A pokemon Maverick liked was one thing. They were common enough. But one that Shadow caught? Oh boy.

Haina Hotel

Ophidia and Snowy looked at each other. Ophidia blinked. 'Love? As in... Oh. Oh no.' Her expression became a glare, while Snowy remained oblivious to the issue as she snuggled Maverick.

Ophidia: <You... But... I had him... As...>

Maverick: <As your Infatuated slave, I know, they told me. But now I've got someone who's not just manipulating me.>

Snowy: <You used Attract, didn't you! You trickster!>

Ophidia became huffy.

Ophidia: <I didn't need his help anymore anyway! I found someone special too!>

Snowy: <But there's still a price for what you did!>

The fight continues verbally for several minutes, each insult worse than the last. After a particularly nasty remark Snowy made, calling Ophidia a treacherous snake, the Snivy lunged and bit down, the Vulpix responding in kind. The two proceeded to start beating each other into pulp. Everyone else backed up.

Shadow: HOLY... CHICK FIGHT!!!

Maverick: <It's like a train wreck! I want to look away or stop it, but I can't!>

The insults ended as the two used every move at their disposal. Then a stray Ice Beam hit Maverick, and both stopped.

Snowy: <OH ARCEUS! SWEETIE ARE YOU OKAY?>

Both were thoroughly mussed up, and after Shadow used an Ice Heal on Maverick, the two started fussing over the mess they made of themselves, slinging potshots as they groomed and Ophidia cleaned up the room.

Snowy: <I'm all dirty and it's your fault!>

Ophidia: <Have you seen the room?! I've never been able to relax in a Tepigsty!>

While the worst was over, it was clear the two would never get along. They were either too different or too similar.

The lodgings near a brutally nasty Alolan desert. Haina by name, the wasteland engulfs travelers that would...

Silversmith: "Well, they aren't my mons."

Armando was crushed. He had had happiness for all of ten seconds. And then...

Armando: <I knew it. It was meaningless after all. A single way-fairing vulpix garners the love of Maverick, a couple that should be completely irrelevant to our own, and you dash off. Can not I serve you as well, or better than Maverick? I am cursed to suffer...>

Armando left through the walls once more. Before the fight began, Aqua had attempted to intervene, but her small voice went unnoticed due to the insults thrown about. Cortez sat down to enjoy the show, unfortunately attracting Aqua's attention. Her usually fully open eyes closed to about halveway, and she forgot all about the duel between Ophidia and Snowy.

Aqua: <One more...>

She jumped on Cortez's tail.

Cortez: <AAH GET IT OFF>

This time, he held his tail in front of his face and punched Aqua, launching her off.

Aqua: <Ow! Can I please please please have it? It's so good!>

Cortez: <No! Stay away from me!>

Aqua chased Cortez around the room.

Haina Hotel

Ophidia finished cleaning up and opened a window (coincidentally near Armando) and draped herself over the edge. Her tail and expression drooped.

Ophidia: <Wonderful. Fantassstic. Amazing. What the HELL ssset me off ssso bad?! Armando wasss right, Maverick wasssn't my concccern, and neither wasss his girlfriend... What wasss her name? Frosssty? No, that wasssn't it. Why did sssuch a petty thing make me lossse my temper? Now I'm exhausssted, stressssssed, and worssse, Armando disssappeared. Again. I just hope he'sss okay. No, I wish I could undo the lassst few minutesss. Thingsss were fine! No, better than fine! I wasss truly comfortable in my own sssnakessskin, and now I can't find the perssson who helped me feel that way... Maybe... Maybe he wasss right after all... Maybe it really wasssn't meant to be...>

Maverick looked upset about this. Ophidia hadn't always looked happy, but she'd never looked so sad. He gave Snowy a look.

Maverick: <Did you have to push the issue? Did you have to taunt her? You're as responsible for this as she is!>

Snowy: <Her losing her boyfriend isn't MY problem.>

Maverick: <Now you're just being cold! ... Erk. No pun intended. Listen, can't you help find Armando? I just can't stand seeing someone normally so confident looking like they just lost the only thing that truly mattered to them!>

The Vulpix reluctantly agreed. The two attempted to get Ophidia to move. The Snivy just didn't respond. She was lost in thought. When she finally started moving, it wasn't to look. She slowly got back off the windowsill and ignored everything else. She approached her Pokeball and pressed the button, sending herself back inside.

Shadow's expression was utter horror. Nothing was sadder than watching a Pokemon recall themselves to their Pokeball.

Snowy: <Oh my Arceus. Did she just..?!>

Maverick: <She did.>

He was to late. Ophidia was in her pokeball.

Silversmith: "...Arceus...This is getting ridiculous. Shadow, let me get this straight. Maverick loved Ophidia, but also loves Snowy. Ophidia, who didn't love Maverick, is angry because Snowy loves Maverick. Armando, a candle, loves Ophidia, and is now angry that Ophidia, who didn't love Maverick, fought for Maverick. And Ophidia is depressed because Armando is gone, even though she was just fighting for Maverick."

Cortez, chased by Aqua: <AAAAHHH>

Silversmith: "*sigh* Yup. If I've got it right, I'll go get Armando. Again."

Silversmith left the hotel.

Outside the Hotel
